Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:
- NO Balance Whine. - NO Player Bashing. - NO Caster Bashing. - NO BM whatsoever.
Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment. |

he played a shitton, liquipedia for the right number, but he went 34-5 maps as i stated above, losing 3 to DRG and 1 to MMA and Naniwa. Notable players he 2-0d are MVP, Huk, Idra, Boxer, Slush, Haypro.
Oz too a code s round of 8er currently.. also gatored (beat some top koreans lately) and State/Drewbie (meh nothing special but not amateurs).
Most impressive MLG run yet, all the haters are freaking immature and ridiculous. He won many macro games during the tournament, including vs MVP, and is well known for epic macro games in GSL. He rushed to punish a dude doing the same greedy FFE every game regardless of map and refusing to adapt when losing with it, so freaking what? Doesn't take away from how awesome he played this weekend and how amazing he is doing lately and it certainly doesn't make him out as "just a cheesey 1/2 baser" etc that all the silly haters were calling him.

ah man... being that young and getting to that "10000 hour expert" mark. leenock is only going to get better.

Leenock and Nani are such bosses :D When I discovered the results and saw my 2 hopes met in the finals I was really glad. Glad that they got that much money, FXO finally won something, which is 100% deserved, and Nani beat so many top koreans haha, and 25k is good toi have. His training is finally paying off. He's now a code S player but I'm sure this weekend would have gave him the confidence needed in code A. A new foreigner in code S, this is a big day !

The argument is a matter if potential, and the cultures capacity to exploit this to reach the best possible results.
America does not have this capacity, hence foreigners training in Korea.
Nothing to do with genes, IQ or any other dumb suggestions people keep throwing.
Koreans hold a sense of pride for being the e-sports nation, just like Americans like to think they are the 'land of opportunity' and the biggest super power.
The difference is, Korea is the e sports nation, and America will soon fall behind china in military and economic power...
Korea have embraced e sports, while America never will, as being rich, powerful and high on the social heirarchy has been Ingrained into their culture.
So what's the reason there are no good Australian players/events? Because there are more TEXANS than there are Australians yet Australia is the 6th biggest counrry in the world? Because our internet is terrible? Because most of the country is obsessing about cricket or one of the footy codes? Take your pick. And it's warm outside. Nothing motivates you to stay home and play Starcraft like the threat of Nuclear War with your neighbor to the north. I fixed that for you, you're welcome. I'm sorry, I had to.
I shouldn't laugh but lolz.

A 4 - 1 roflstomp. And before you argue against this, name any GSL final in history that hasn't ended either 4 - 0 or 4 - 1.
Nestea vs Boxer( MKP )

Naniwa looked like he had Zerg solved, but thankfully Leenock solved Naniwa. They both had brilliant runs and deserve a lot of credit. Did it look to anyone else like Leenock was not fully confident in his zvp? He's good, don't get me wrong, but his builds seemed designed to net him early advantages riskily. Did anyone think that maybe he was worried about an even macro game? Not to take anything away from him. It obviously worked. But I would only question whether he's capable of adapting against other tosses. Probably he is, his builds were pretty obviously reactive to the fact that nani had been FFEing against every zerg every single time and didn't seem like he was doing anything else any time soon. Leenock historically hasn't had very good ZvP but it has been improving a lot as of late. I think he just metagamed Nani terribly ad punished him for being so inflexible. If you look closely, most of the games Leenock wasn't blindly going for the Roach/ling pressure, he was going for a standard speedling expand, but when he saw the FFE he just went for the pressure, since it's much better against FFE than speedling expand. Nope, 1-base roach pressure is only "good" vs FFE if it is not scouted, otherwise its almost an instant loss. Its the definition of cheese. It was quite a nice mindgame from leenock though to use it again and again even after it initially failed on shakuras. So then part of the play becomes denying scouting of it. I wouldn't call it cheese if it's reactive. If Naniwa went double expand before forge and gateway, should Leenock sit back and let him do it? This is the same thing just less extreme.

So just got home going through all the matches WTF HAYPRO WOW AMAZING
|
I thought most of the finals weren't a "roflstomp", but pretty close considering they both didn't screw up anything big time frequently. Grats to Haypro, don't think any1 expected him to be placed highest of all the liquid ppl.
ps. zai was wrong.

And we can boo whatever crowd we want for booing. Silly how this arguemnt can go round and round... No you have no reason to be upset. Why are you so mad that people dont like Naniwa. Last time I checked he hasnt proven himself with a GSL championship or MLG championship and bms worse than Idra. When was the last time he bmed? He called MLG a joke tournament out of frustration, nothing that hasn't happened before, and his temper is one of his flaws. He claims he never meant to disrespect Nestea, and as far as I can see he didn't. So when has he bmed since the days of old Naniwa who'd cheese every game, which was ages ago? As for proving himself...god damn man are you just biased against the guy? Over the last 3 days he beat MVP, Nestea, Nestea again, Huk, and DRG. Yeah he has no resul-OH WAIT he just took 2nd in the most stacked MLG ever. It was only about an hour ago, maybe you can recall it. And he has won an MLG. Thats a lot of excuses. He hasnt won anything, only thing he's proven is that he's good. The MLG he won was with zero koreans attending so yeah it was pretty much a joke. I'm not biased, its clear you are a raging Naniwa fanboy though. Setting aside that he won the MLG Global Invitational two days ago, the only thing he's proven is he's good? What the FUCK else is there to prove? What the fuck are you even saying? You are biased. I am, indeed, a Naniwa fan, well spotted. A very good night to you. Why are you not banned yet? Its like you dont even bother reading. What he's done to distinguish himself from players like HuK or Idra is defeating the very best: MMA and Nestea. You can argue why those achievements are not meaningful, but he did it in an offline tournament. So yeah. HuK also won a tournament (MLG) and is also in contention, but he finished much lower in the tournament that you are degrading Nani for "only" placing second in. HuK is consistently on Code S though, I think nani had an awesome run, but I don't think he's solid enough to remain in Code S for long, particularly now that the format is even less forgiving. We'll have to see. Definitely true. It's just really weird to say that Nani is not worthy in any way of being in contention for best foreigner. For sure. he has a lot left to prove, though. Nani has great builds, that's about it. Once the opponent find a hole he falls apart. I was really rooting for Leenock to win it, not really a Naniwa fan. But I still don't think that's fair at all lol, the dude had some sick micro and forcefields. No denying that he's really good, but his build certainly did help him a lot this weekend. Idk if he could beat NesTea now that his PvZ build's weakness has been found out.

People who think hard work is all thats needed to be at the top, Im sorry to say, but they simply do not have talents. That is why they want to think they have what it takes to reach the top, purely by practising billions of times.
In reality though, talents are important too. In football, Cristiano Ronaldo is an example of hard work AND talent. Talent is nothing without hard work, but that does not mean talent isn't needed. You need both of course. But going back on topic....
An example would be, if you have talent and hard work = C.Ronaldo If you hard work a lot and practice a lot = David Villa or someone else.
Cmon its easy to see some people are born with talent.....
If you can't see how this works then don't worry.
Btw this thread has turned from Providence MLG to talent thread to Australian thread, haha.

so . . . who gets the code S spot? Drg or Naniwa?

Haha congrats to Leenok... He's a lucky kid..
Why doesnt he go to school? I'm not familiar with S Korea's education system.
Naniwa.. good run man!
|
Man I wish I could have watched this. That is a very impressive run for Leenock. Just step back and look at the matches he played to win.
Boxer 2-0 Slush 2-0
Then the gauntlet
MMA 2-1 Idra 2-0 Huk 2-0 MVP 2-0 DRG 4-3 Nani 4-1
I mean really? That is just like omg and it's going to force me to pay MLG to watch the run.
|
yea, let's lynch a 16 year old who destroyed the entire tournament because he took advantage of extremely greedy play by another player 4 maps in a row.
leeknock hwaiting, you earned a new fan.

Leenock is like the return of July, lol. God of War, 2.0. Even as a brotoss, I'm happy he won.
Very nice play from him and Naniwa. Don't forget Nani won the Global Invitational too.

do you know that on season 2 on korean ladder leenock have about 2500-3000 games played? everyone on grandmaster was about ~300,400 wins and ~200-300 loss, and leenock have about 1200 wins and 900 losses. I am not sure about the Exact number but I was watching sc2ranks alot at the time and it is crazy for me.... at the time leenock was pwning code a but always lost in up/down match or lose to some good players.
He is in code S ro8 now. No one can deny his talent at his age, but I doubt that anyone can doubt his practice, he is like the hardest working korean and now it pay off.
EDIT: his korean battle net profile http://kr.battle.net/sc2/ko/profile/147881/1/LeenockfOu/ 3841 league wins....that is ladder only... he is not playing much ladder this season, but it is just started off and he may play custom game in FXO team a lot/
As sorry I find his season profile on sc2ranks 1v1 only, he did not play 2v2 at all, about 3-4 games i think season 1: 2016 wins 1819 losses season 2: 1180 wins 840 losses season 3: 591 wins 418 losses season 4 17 wins 13 losses http://sc2ranks.com/kr/147881/LeenockfOu/season/1 http://sc2ranks.com/kr/147881/LeenockfOu/season/2 http://sc2ranks.com/kr/147881/LeenockfOu/season/3 http://sc2ranks.com/kr/147881/LeenockfOu/season/4
That amounts of game. 1v1 only, ladder only, He may practice with Fxo/fou alot. but at least the kid prove that hard work pay off, he play the most amount of game in korean ladder.

Lol, it's funny how close MC, MVP, and NesTea are in winnings right now NesTea $227,150 MVP $227,090 MC $222,200 http://sc2earnings.com/
