He had only secured code S in the game before the final. He played decent in the final but i think huk had his number.

He only played 2 more games after getting code S (Grand Finals vs Huk). Lost the first one due to 4gate vs 4gate micro (Huk managed to squeeze in an extra unit somehow and also picked off one of MC's pylons, supply blocking him) and the second game was just a build order loss.. The beauty (sarcasm) of extended series guaranteed that the games ended there.
If there wasn't an extended series, Huk would have just won 2-0. Every match, including the grand finals, is a Bo3, unless there is an extended series for a second meeting, where it goes to Bo7.

yeah that's true, it would have been better to see a "clean" bo7 though imo
additionally it's worth mentioning that MC in match 2 wanted to cannon rush which huk deflected so mc got miles behind.

Damn spoilers, please remove it.

Look at this list of foreigners that beat Code S Koreans this weekend: Drewbie, Sase, Ret, goswser, Huk (2!), Idra (2!), and at IEM NY: Attero, and Gatored (2!).
Something weird was in the air on the US east coast over the last few days...

The extended series rule is obviously retarded for this simple reason: The loser of the first match already underwent the consequences of his loss (streaming into the bracket at an earlier time).
In no other sports/esports event have I heard of such nonsense. The only thing in this tournament that should carry over is in the Grand Finals, which should have a reset for the loser if he wins (so as to have true double elimination). With the current rules, the player coming from the loser's final could even be up 2-0 against the winner of the winners final if the 2 met in pools only. Ridiculous.

Nice, however HongUn is not Code S. Only guys left in Code S as protoss are HuK and Sangho.

Would be interesting what Stephano would do if he got that Code A spot

Well... he's currently in the Up & Downs. Whether or not he'll still be in Code S after Wednesday isn't known yet.
Also I'm not sure if Puma would be eligible for a Code A spot, as he might be too Korean (not sure what the cut-off is).

I think IdrA would accept because this fits his schedule to go back to Korea. I would love it if Ret accepted, but he has gotten a Code A spot every MLG and has yet to accept. Sase will. HAYPRO. Ah, I love that he is this far up the list but I don't see him accepting for the same reasons as Ret. Sheth will not. But like Ret and Haypro there is a small chance that he will. The OGS-TL deal makes it a little easier but I don't see it happening. It should be worth noting that all three Liquid member in question lived in Korea at one point, so the allure isn't as strong. Stephano is going to Korea, so yes. Machine would say yes, likely just to have the chance to go to Korea.

Well, with the Drewbie/MKP game 2, I am almost certain that MKP intentionally nuked himself (like 60 supply of marines, marauders and medivacs), which led to the loss as he was notably ahead before it happened. I'm not sure if he overestimated how far he was ahead or thought he would certainly take the next game, but regardless, Drewbie should not have beaten Marineking.

So huk won and mc is back in code s, not a bad day for protoss.

And since he has gone like 0-5 in every MLG getting knocked out direct in the playoff. Has he even won more then 2-3 games in total in each MLG?
Its just weird how you can free ride so long on one lucky performance. Maybe they invite the first 24 spots of the this championship to the next championship season, and guess who already is in the MLG top 24 ranking. ^^ I think more players like him should be in the groups. Why? That's similar to soccer, where you get Lichtenstein, Luxemburg or Andorra in your group. Every nation is super happy if they get Lichtenstein in their qualification group. Lichtenstein could also say: no we don't wanna participate in the next championship. They dont give up, they also enjoy being broadcasted. But it's fun watching them play, even if they lose 0:6 to the Netherlands for example. And later you can interview Lichtenstein and the team answers: "We lost pretty close. We have a new training camp, where we will practice much, much harder, .... Expect us!"
Most teams are happy to get Austria in their group........

I don't think he is as terrible as you think. This MLG he beat Slush and Tyler and took a game off of Hero. Definitely not top tier, but not exactly a complete walkover.
