This is how every PvP should look like post patch (opening-wise). PvPs yesterday were painful to watch, this brings the matchup's reputation back somewhat.

sases build is weak to a couple things but he just knows hasu's style.

Sases build isn't very good vs 3gate pressure or a really good 4gate blink timing.

But its good vs robo openings for sure which is basically all hasu does.

So don't read too much into it, its a good build but it can't work every game.

All of that is very doable normally. Obviously I don't mean the exact build order, but expanding in PvP will become quite common sooner rather than later (providing there aren't more changes that make it more difficult in the future).

Things just take a little time to develop after the patch changes because the players still default to builds that they have been practicing for months instead of experimenting on the fly.

Yes, a decent all-in build can break that, but the point is that the all-in builds are now equally risky as expanding (if not more) and going for the midgame.

Inori held blink timings easily in IPL3 btw, he even held 1 base aggression on Tal'Darim.

People respond with this a lot. Results are a good proxy for skill, but they aren't a perfect substitute. And you should be able to spot good players first, before they win something. Nerchio has had issues with LANs, in particular he hasn't been to many, but he'll be at ESWC and WCG this year at least, which will give us a good way to evaluate his skill and determine if he's still in the top group. But watching the play itself, I think the answer is obviously yes; Nerchio is phenomenal.

While I agree that you should be able to tell how good a player is just by watching him play, in my experience, results online do not necessarily translate to LAN results and a good player may crumble to the psychological pressures necessary to do well in LANs. To have the complete package, you have to both possess the requisite SC 2 skills and the mental stamina & preparation to slog it through a major tournament. Success at LANs demonstrates that a player is able to go beyond "merely" being able to play a good game of SC 2, and to possess the qualities of a champion. That is why I find it very important in evaluating players.

True, but they should translate; there's no good reason why a good online player can't be a good LAN player. And playing poorly at LAN's doesn't really reflect on how good you actually are, which is what I'm more interested in. Nerchio has been going to more LANs recently, I think he'll have that experience in no time. He's gotta be a favorite at ESWC, for example.
