By the time I type this I'm sure there will already be like 5 answers but the TT1 match vs Gatored doesn't count and now TT1 has to play DRG due to an error in the bracket.

For those of you not understanding, here's why: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IEM_Season_VI_-_Global_Challenge_New_York If you look at group B, DRG had an overall score of 5-3 in his group with 2-1 in BO3 stats. Gatored had an overall score of 4-4 in his group with 2-1 in BO3 stats. Yet Gatored beat DRG 2-1 in their BO3. This caused conflict on what would count highest: their individual head-to-head record or their overall group win/loss ratio. Thus, the IEM referee accidentally made the wrong call, and did not realize it until now: thus DRG and Gatored should switch places in their group and therefore also their matchups in the quarter finals.
I can understand why this happened... but really, it shouldn't have. It shouldn't have...

They should apologize to DRG for messing up and having him play the wrong opponent, not cancel the result of a game already played It's their tournament, they do whatever they think is right, not what you think is right.

Yeah, that's like taking money he just earned away :/

That's completely bullshit

agree even though i dont care much for TT1

That's the worst decision ever made Carmac. Every professional "sport" would have stick to a made decision and that's for a good reason.
What you just did is distortion of competition.
|
Man, it's so ridiculous that they would just outright cancel the result of a game because they fucked up with the bracket. There's gotta be another way to fix it.
|
Better to screw up 1 match and replay it than compromise the results of the entire tournament by fucking up all the brackets. Well played carmac.

What manner of black magic is this?

From Liquipedia --
"Group placement will be ordered according to the following criteria in order:
-Match record -Head-to-head"
Gatored was 2-1 in series and 4-4 in maps DRG was 2-1 in series and 5-3 in maps Gatored beat DRG heads-to-head
Does "match record" mean maps or series? I thought it meant series. In which case DRG would be second and they got it right the first time.

Why is everyone pissed? The match that was just played should have never been played at all, some ref made an error with the bracket.
TT1 won the match 3:0 but now has to play DRG for the "real" quarterfinal.

Honestly, they played the game out already. Seeding error, sure, that sucks. But man up and accept YOUR error. Don't fuck the players over for it.
Yargh. Stupid IEM, now I HAVE to cheer for TT1, and I don't want to do that!!!
They did accept their error though, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have to be fixed.
It would've been rough on DRG that way. This way all players get the chance to play the right matchups.

I will admit I've never seen a series completely canceled out in any game/sport.

This is BS.
Seriously it was a mistake by the organizers, the players should not have to suffer from their mistake.
