Each of them was a GSL champ which is way better than a SEA's gosu Yeah, and ironically MMA, MC, Polt are 3rd, 4th and 5th in GSL championship points anyway. From a logistical point of view also it makes the most sense because those players are already there, so there's no need to confirm with them last minute and rush them over. MMA has to beat Oz to pass MC's GSL points. Currently MC has 9115 and MMA has 9048. It's a shame, I would much rather see both at the Blizzard Cup. Providence MLG winner: + Show Spoiler + I dunno how Leenock rolled over everyone, only saw the last few games of finals. Grats to him but I hope the games aren't as meh.
+ Show Spoiler + Everything but the finals from both him and Naniwa are amazing games and should be watched, both guys were monsters with leenock having more chances to show off to a bigger international crowd ^-^. lol I want Nestea and Naniwa in the same group for this just for more ( fun and civil) rivalry. Also more protoss is needed.

Wow, right on the tail of Providence I find out that Dreamhack starts this Thursday, GSL November is still ongoing, Proleague starting soon, WCG in early december, and SoCal regionals mid December, Apex 2012 in January/ How awesome is it that we live in a time where there's always something to watch as far as e-sports goes?
Edit: Wow, I feel so dense. Got so caught up in how much is going on even at the end of the year that I forgot to mention the event that's in the thread title. So much great pro gaming content every weekend, and so many people working hard to always make it better. Much love and appreciation to everybody putting effort in. :D
Edit 2: Almost forgot NASL in early December as well.

Some speculation:
Looking at the approach GomTv is taking, im going to assume they are trying to make this event more global.
Which means, given the number of koreans currently in (5 Koreans vs 2 Foreigners), and the likelihood that Koreans will probably win one, if not both Dreamhack winter and WCG. I think its more likely that they will assign the invite to a foreign player.
Who will that be?
I'd say huk is the highest on the list, due to his performance, fanbase, and his loyalty to the GSL.
Idra is also possible, due to the fact that whenever he's there, the viewership jumps upwards by 20k, but given his persona and his relationship with GSL (forfeited Code S not a big deal, but still), Huk is probably more likely.
After that its all free call, MC is possible if he doesn't get the invite from being ranked third (because all the love he gets); Thorzain or White-ra is possible, because their skill and reputation; winner of GSL Nov is possible, because that would be the best player going into Dec.; Sen is also possible, because how frequently he places at top of these tournaments, right after MVP/Nestea/MC.
Lastly, I think a 5-5 foreigner Korean split would be awesome, of course they need to earn it, but with the recent improvement in results, I'd argue they already did. 6-4 split is good, since Koreans ARE still better at the moment. 7-3 would take a lot of from a global tournament, since the korean-foreigner rivalry is what brings the show.

So many zergs! This could be the quickest tournament if every game is a zvz.

Well lets look at it objectively. Looking at the invite system right now, We know so far:
IM_MVP IM_Nestea Stephano MVP_DongRaeGu FXO_Leenock coL,NaNiWa
Are guaranteed. 2 other seats are from tourneys that have not yet finished (Dreamhack and WCG) that leave the last GSL spot and Blizzcon
I believe only MMA and MC can take the GSL spot now (correct me if I'm wrong)
Blizzcon: Well number 1, 2 and 4 are already in the tourney. That leave Number 3; Sen

I don't think they are enough zergs

Hopefully SEn gets a spot, he really deserves being in this tournament

I hope it is going to be both MMA & MC, no offense to Sen, but I feel like they can show better games, and it makes for better racial diversity.

Yeah if Sen gets the invite it will be 50% Zerg and could get worse with the other tournament results left this year.

stupid they took 2 finalist of MGL providence, and not 2 last winners of 2 last MLG
should definitly be huk instead of naniwa, who clearly doesn't derve such honor...
|
I would love to see Sen in this tournament, but only if they other remaining spots gets filled with non-zergs!
