Its not as bad as Xnc by any means, but the fact that everything funnels through the middle and the easily defendable bases makes it hard to deny terran bases.
Once you hold the middle with Mech, Zergs have a problem cracking it. Idra did it by a fairly good engagement with Broodlords and Idra did some serious economic damage, letting him be in a better place when he went for that break.
Also, Idra didn't go massive Infestors or Broodlords until the end. Partially from gas issues, but he also prevents Mass Ghost from being the way to win.

I have the impression that so far his out of this world macro was enough to win him game, but now that Zerg micro is getting more and more important he may need to upgrade his playstyle.
What do you think?
So when he broke the center by attacking from the 3 points towards the center was not a flank. Yes his micro could be better. But his macro is awesome so it makes up for it. You can't have A/S class in all of your skill sets. Well you can but baby Artosis isn't born yet.

Wat...
He lost 8 broodlords.. doesn't have gas for more, makes loads of lings - asap he gets more gas more broodlords appear.. you're more or less saying that shitty micro is genius
It isn't the fact that IdrA lost the 8 Broods that made Select neglect tanks, is the fact IdrA made 8 Broodlords.
Doesn't make much sense, as SeleCT had his academy up before greater spire was started

The four early bases are really easy to defend and the last 4 are extremely open and hard to defend. A zerg player wants to take his advantage after he takes his third base, and it can be really difficult to do that on this map. And its a pretty narrow map so tanks can hold down the middle pretty effectively.
It's had to break a terran if they get the middle of the map secure, but if you've got decent muta control it's amazingly hard for the Terran to actually take their third securely and without suffering enough losses that they are miles behind economically like SeleCT ended up being.
Nah select took his 3rd too late, even after he killed all those lings and denied any pressure for a long long time. And he expanded to his 4th/5th too slow and had too little scvs/production facilities. Selects macro lost him that game.
really good play to double expo on this map as long as he can defend him when mutas pop he'll be way ahead, if he can't, ez to use it to build scv count

this is why i hate terrans on this map..easy as hell for terran to get to 3 bases vs zerg.

What I'm saying is, Idra's probably seen Select's TvZ on Shakuras (yesturday Select v Dimaga). So he knows Select likes to take the middle and get up a good number of ghosts. But ghost production takes away gas from tank production. Now ghosts are really good against pretty much all zerg heavy gas units, but they're not good against mass ling/bling. Tanks are very good against ling/bling but not when he remaxes with like 90 lings and Select's tank count is down to a handful. I mean, I'd bet money Idra made a lot of broods to convince Select he's going Hive tech, then switches back to lings and just over-runs the middle so he can take his 5th/6th.

No zerg in sc2 other than DRG does that to a proper level. It's quite appalling actually. Maybe the APM required is too high, and maybe thats why nada said it be really scary when BW zergs transfer over to the game.
I don't want to sound like a dumb fanboy, which I'm not, but I've watched Stephano's stream a lot recently and his micro is actually really gound. He is a bit lacking sometimes in the decision making department (taking fights he shouldn't take), but he has reached an impressive macro/micro mix...
