Question, so today I picked up my player pass and stuff, and on the sheet of paper outlining the times for open qualifier, it says round 1 heat 1 is at 11am but on the TL portal it says it's at 1PM? Need clarification :3

Thanks!

I'd trust the sheet of paper you got with your player pass. Seems like it should be correct.

I think its the streaming of the open bracket (likely not live if you start at 11, and it streams at 1) -- its the second free stream.

pfffft. I am busy from 8 AM until 10 PM. I'll be missing the whole first day!

/gonna check results on my phone throughout the day anyway so its okay.

Edit: So has it been confirmed that the pool play is only to decide seeding in the ro32 brackets? As in, it won't put anyone deeper in the bracket?

I get to sit in my IT office for my school. Basically I can sit there and watch starcraft for most of the day, because nobody will probably come in from 8 to 5, and here is what usually happens when someone does come in:

"I can't connect to the server"
ok... easy fix... make them log into the right network and type in \\archserver2

"I cant print"
ok... easy fix... punch in the IP address of whatever printer they want to use

"I cannot connect to the wireless"
can be odd at times, but for the most part it is... click on the network, make them enter their username and password. If that fails, make them reset it.
IF it fails to autodetect network settings, then I set it up manually... which isn't hard either, but meh.

The theory behind the RO32 seeding is that the top 4-8 should easily walk over the people in OB 9-16, essentially making it easy to advance to the RO16.

In reality, it probably isn't that meaningful because we don't know who will be in the bottom half of the open bracket. It certainly isn't as meaningful as MLG's system.

Whether they use 1 large bracket or multiple small brackets, whether or not top players eliminate each other early on, etc... these are all factors that play. This makes this system not as strong as the MLG seeding, because it isn't a guaranteed place further up in the championship bracket.

Multiple smaller brackets combined with randomization could put "weaker" players further up in the bracket (IE top 4 in 4 brackets). Likewise, the distribution of stronger players could be evenly spread, and you have top-players in the top 16.

One large bracket increases chances of early elimination of "strong" players, giving "weaker" players a chance to be in the top 16.

2. As a courtesy to your fellow attendees, please shower or bathe at least once a day. If you are prone to sweating a lot in crowded, enclosed spaces, deodorant is highly recommended as well. Not only will you feel refreshed, but all those around you will be thankful. Sponge baths will not be provided.

See http://www.ign.com/ipl/starcraft2/tournaments/ipl3/event-info at the bottom

The plan.

1. Slug out 2 more hours at work!
2. Go home and fall asleep at 5pm
3. Sleep 8 hours and wake up at 1 am to watch IPL!
4. Go to class at 9am.

Yay Australia!

Question what is the [Prime] label next to the FPV viewing option on the IPL portal - is that a premium type dealio?

they are using EDT right now, so it is CEST -6. As most part of the year.
They should use the date/time tag in the op to not mess up the schedule for 'foreigners'.

They mentioned, that if he gets the problems solved, he will cast. So maybe they sorted it out with the US?

This gonna be so aswesome, eventhough I'm not so sure about what to think of the format. The group play is only for seeding within the Ro32? At MLG you at least progress to a later round. Seems kinda weird and unrewarding :/

Anyways, this gonna be cool

Edit: For the guy above me IPL

I have to say good job to IPL for starting the games fairly early so that us europeans have a chance to watch them without having to take days off / messing up our sleep schedule.

I don't think the pool play is such a bad thing, I have a feeling that the caliber of players that come out of the open bracket in the top 4 spots will be very impressive. None of the qualifiers/invites will want to hit them first up in single elim.

Would be nice if you could format the time to the TL time format so
everyone can see the schedule in their local time.

How come this is listed on the TL schedule on the right side bar pm the site.

Wow! That taxi company surely knows how to charge lol. Must be a long drive !
