Any idea on when the national finals will be? Should be a good tournament :D Hopefully mostly code S players ( can see how rough qualifiers are with GSL code A ).
Well with the 8 Seeded already it should be pretty nice regardless. Hopefully Bomber, MMA, Alicia and DRG can qualify!
Also hope they have english coverage when they do the National tournament.
[ note: carmel might be double registered? if ogs sent in their forms before he switched, and nshs did so after, then it actually is him in both group 6 and 18
ogn broadcasting sc2 regularly would be soooooooooo great.... but thats not going to happen nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Translating off the bracket.
I'm too slow for Antoine TT
This is absolutely stacked btw, it's literally everyone that's anything in the KR sc2 scene.
Ahh I see.
It's insanely stacked indeed, there's one guy advancing from every group, and from what I see now it's going to be crazy. I hope we'll see some new faces pop up and qualify as well, as WCG has always been somewhat of a surprise (in w3 at least ;p.)
First big-time Korean TV exposure to SC2; and first time that it's a non BW WCG event, let's gauge the interest this will generate, as WCG still pulled a lot of viewers when it was still in BW.

Don't forget Seal too, the Zerg Artosis has been hyping after we saw him in the GSTL.
This is like the GSL open seasons all over again- so stacked- How will we watch them with english commentary btw? Cuz its not hosted by GOMTV- so no tastosis?

There's no real "assume" about it. It is the hardest tournament to date.
nah never heard of them releasing replays, my god whata day though, cannot wait to see who get through this, so many good players and players who on their day can beat some big names, think well have a few suprises in there!!!
You have Carmel in both group 6 and group 18. Edit: whoops, apparently you noticed already. Also, though, it looks like noone from WeMade Fox is playing in this.

Don't think there is going to be a way to watch it. I hope theres even a way to follow it but not looking good.

They're trying to qualify for WC3 and I believe you can only try for 1 game.
Thank you so much for covering this! That's really great!
In group 24 of your brackets the player named Hero is not the Broodwar Zerg player hero but the SC II Protoss player HerO from oGs. There is no Zerg playing in group 24. Hopefully this can be fixed! (Sorry for troubling you, but oGsHero actually is one of my favourite protosses and so I want him to get his protoss sign, even though Zerg is the greatest race.)

Qualifiers today, final bracket sometime in Sept. Ongamenet is one of the two Korean cable channels that programs esports, mainly BW. It's the home of the OSL.

They are different people: the oGs player is Carmel and the NS Hoseo player is RealMaker.
So are the national finals going to start this upcoming week? I don't wanna miss a chance to listen to the OGN casters cast SC2, that should be interesting :D!
Photos for Groups 9-16 added. Some are missing because a row of computers doesn't work or something and if they are not placed according to the plan I'm unable to tell one asian from another.

Why is Genius showing as Terran, did he switch races? Or are people just updating the wiki and other pages while not noticing that the TLPD they were linked to is the BW one and not the SC2 one.
Damn Losira already out. Wish the seeding had taken GSL July into account. That way Losira would have been seeded instead of San since right now Losira is 8th in points while San is 10th (anypro at 9th).

Yes, I know. It's just fun to rib him a little bit. I think he's hilarious and would love to see him have more screentime, personally.

Ensnare and kyrix are the two weakest in code S, and I've been waiting for them to get weeded out forever. Hopefully this season they both go down to code a.

It's not that he cheesed them, it's how bad the cheese was.
i think must be extremely cautious about that link. the first progamer i asked (Seed) said he lost vs Ganzi in round 1. but that link says Seed won the entire group.
i just asked another pro (SlayerS Golden) and he says 1:2 loss but bracket says 0:2 loss

Indeed Ganzi won against Seed and thus won the bracket.
Everything's in Korean, I double check but this mistake got through, scores are not always written on the bracket on the wall and there is some mistakes getting corrected on it as well.
I think SuperNoVa won his group too. He just tweeted that he is in a good mood, because he hasn't played in Yongsan ( - that is where the WCG National Finals will be held) for a long time.
So who are we looking at, names that are still in it? Once again it is impossibly hard to comprehend the format of the tournament and the players left in it.

Today there is 24 brackets of 6 or 7 players. The winners of those brackets will join the final qualifier in Yongsan in September where 3 spots will be awarded for WCG World Finals, there is 8 already seeded players due to their GSL ranking at GSL WC.
Nice, an easy group for MKP with a cheeser and one zerg/protoss :D. Bad group for Mvp, 4 terrans will make it so random with the new tvt trend but I guess he is still the tvt boss. Nice to see that it's a Prime player who eliminated DongRaeGu, too bad they are 3 Prime in Polt's group .

Well actually it aint that easy cause MKP is in a big slump right now. I think every1 in this group has the same chance to advance.
TvT isnt random at all. MVP will crush through the group since Skill matters a lot in TvT right now.
Polt wont have a Problem with his group. Testers PvT is horrible and the others arent at his level.
The only one who has a easy group is Nada. TheBest ist TheWorst ever - Twilight cant take games of a nonzerg player and sculp is not at the level of Nada

How is he in a big slump except in TvT? The last matches of him are either online tournaments where he crushed everyone or Super Tournament where we weren't even able to see his "real" vZ and vP since his opponents were too bad to last more than 10 minutes. So the only difficult match will be against Jjun who has good cheeses as seen against Bomber but that's all.
NaDa hasn't really an easy group : TheBeSt is very good (maybe not good enough to take out NaDa but dunno), sculp is a NSHoseo terran and their terrans have the reputation of being better than Tassadar, San etc. And Twilight is protoss, I dunno why NaDa delivered that bad showing during Assembly Summer against elfi and MaNa, but he will have to play at his "usual" level (if he didn't at assembly) or improve his play (if he played his "best" at assembly).
We will see if TvT isn't random, Mvp is far better than TheStC, Happy & GanZi but I'm not sure that he will be able to beat them all...

Haha, don't you know that oGsHerO is a fan favourite killer? He took out DongRaeGu in Code A July Qualifiers 2:0. And now he took out MMA 2:0.
And Marineking is definetly a fan favourite as well!
O.K., I'm just joking. But I really think, Marineking should not underestimate HerO. HerO's PvZ was a little bit hyped by the casters at the moment, but in my opinion, his PvP and PvT are quite o.k. as well and it seems to me his PvT is a lot more unpredictable than his PvZ, so it's probably less figured out.
I'm cheering for HerO, but I'd like both HerO and Marineking to advance. I only don't know which group play system WCG National uses and if that would be possible at all.

I know that Hero is good but MMA getting beaten by him doesn't scare me much since MMA and most of Slayers terrans have not a good vP, as seen in the match against Prime. The thing good for HerO in his match against MKP is that this time MC will probably not practice with MKP, and help HerO instead since they are teammates. But MKP still has beast practice partners so it should be ok. And Hero beating DRG has nothing to do with TvP/PvT and I don't believe in curses/jinx (yeah look MKP was supposed to be 2nd place in Super Tournament but it didn't happened) so HerO won't eliminate a fan favorite this time :D
Oh ok. Some suprises sadly some of the groups really where pretty weak while others insanely strong i guess this is what happens if you put in a whole community into one bracket.
On August 07 2011 01:45 mprs wrote: so is it top 1 from each group?
Yes top 1 from 24 groups, then join 8 seeded players to form a 32 man tourney in sept that will be aired on TV. Top 3 then get invited to wcg. Brutal brutal tourney!
MVP's going to have a hard time, though I expect him to come out of that group. Or rather, him or Ganzi, whose TvT is pretty damn sick as well. Happy didn't impress me, but he's no walk-over. TheSTC will have a tough time, though; in his Code A qualifiers interview, he said he lost because he hasn't yet adapted to the mech-style play. If he hasn't fixed that up, he definitely is not going to advance.
Hahaha, here I was looking through the early rounds and was hoping to see ZeNEX Life in the groups, and he got knocked out by TheBest! TheBest is seriously the biggest villain in SC2 ever.
I talked with WCG Managers Lee Kang Yeol and Jeon Hye Jin Saturday, they told me that the exact date or dates of the WCG Qualifier will be given at the end of August, and it hasn't been decided if it will be in Late August or September. It is useless to ask for more details before this announcement, there won't be.
MMA choked again, hope he won't choke again in code S (he's choked every gsl season so far, does well in MLGs though) Mvp always seems to be running into his Brood War teammate/rival Ganzi after Ganzi switched over to sc2. As I recall MLG anaheim, most people missed the insane TvT they had in game1. Mvp rarely losses best of 3s,5s,7s. He only loses in bo1s (gstl, code s ro32). Hope he gets back into his old self and take home some more trophies. Nestea has a pretty easy group (and he usually does, for some reason) , I'm pretty sure he will make it out just fine.

ogn has started broadcasting wcg national finals. cs finals have already been played out. fifa has finished its semis. dungeonfighter/league of legends have started from ro8.
for warcraft 3 today;
first semi, lyn 2-0 remind moon currently up 1-0 vs focus.
sorry for necroing this but does anyone know when do the national finals begin (it's not stated in the OP)? With MVP and Nestea flying to Blizzcon it looks pretty damn late....
I was wondering if it was possible to spectate the group C qualifiers in person. I tried to find info about how to go about it but it proved to be quite difficult.
I found out that the Group C qualifiers are held October 29th, 13:00 KST, in the Shindorim Techno Mart. Do you need to pay an admittance fee to spectate or can you just walk in? Any info would be much appreciated.
