I've nothing against the koreans themselves, just that I see MLG as the ground where the best koreans and best foreigners can meet, and the foreigners have so far disappointed whenever there was a chance to. They really need to get their shit together, otherwise this will just turn into BW.

Cant believe theres so much hate in these threads while we're so blessed with a wonderful event, with wonderful games. Last warning, whine and insult the players or commentators? See you.

Tbh, Slasher was right about nearly everything (except he thought Boxer was gonna fail), and scoots and wheat heavily disagreed. They thought that foreigners were going to compete and Idra and Huk would be in top 3. They also cited qxc vs MVP as a reason MVP wasn't gonna do well (or maybe that was Bitter in an MLG cast can't remember) i dont mind if djWHEAT saying what he thought but the fact he super bad mouthed using thouse words toward slasher while slasher is just saying what he thought with no BM at all (imo) really making me disrespect him and mr scoot all he does is "thats right wheat", "haha wheat funny", "i agree with wheat"

They really need to get their shit together, otherwise this will just turn into BW. I guess I can understand that. And to a certain extent, I think that's probably a more mainstream opinion than most people on this site would realize (or care to admit, more likely). Take a look at soccer (football) in the US: doesn't have the best players, so most US citizens don't care about it (globally as well). Same thing I think can be said about SC2; aside from the die-hards that can be found on this site, the average person who's needed to grow the size of the audience will pretty much say "isn't that the game those Koreans are really good at?" and then go about their day not giving a shit. However, where I diverge from you is that inviting the Koreans give, for example, those US citizens access to those best players, and it forces US players to step up their game if they want to finish in the money. Surely that can curb some people's enthusiasm not to see someone from their country win, but, they still get to see the best compete on their turf. And I don't mind if it ends up looking like a GSL, since I don't have a chance to watch it!

Edit: Granted, outside looking in, djWheat doesn't look so hot in that exchange.

Kinda joking, kinda not, I'm only a fan of a few foreigners, and those haven't been doing too well lately (ahem, Jinro), so I'm okay with Korean domination. BoxeR making a deep run was amaaazing. Great MLG.

Watching 4 terran koreans battling out aint just that much fun in my world, simply cause I dont really bother which of them that wins. I mean I was almost certain that either MVP or MMA would take the tournament from a relatively early stage, but do I care which of them win, not really... To be honest I thought the last 4 players in MLG was close to the least intresting combination of players achievable. If rain had played instead of boxer that would actually have been the least intresting finals possible imo. I mean anything would have been better, Naniwa, Idra, some completly unknown, or even Alica/DRG would all have been much more intresting. And the builds where all the same also. How many games was there something close to: wall in with depo+baracks, hellion aggresion, expand behind it and from their into some variation of tank/marine/viking+likely a raven and then into a late stage with some ghost+maybe thors? If it needs to be 4 people from 1 nation with 1 race cant they at least go different builds... Well to be fair I didnt watch the last 2-3 games cause a car bomb exploded just outside my house (not kidding) before the matches started and that was a lot more intresting. If there had been a foreigner or two among the last 4 I might just have skipped the car bomb for a couple of hours :p So you would rather have inferior play in the finals if it meant that a foreigner could participate? And hey...TvT is the best out of the 3 mirror match ups. ZvZ is just infestor roach these days and remember when PvP used to be 4 gate like every game unless MC decided he wanted to have some fun at a scrubs expense. On August 01 2011 23:03 Coolwhip wrote: Personally I closed the stream when the 6 players left were Koreans. Like others have said it doesn't interest me that much which of the Korean squad takes the prize. With the exception of MC. MC vs Puma in the NASL finals is the best series I have ever seen. I'm not sure what MLG should do. Only letting mediocre scrubs like Catz play would be the downfall of ESPORTSZZ. But this situation isn't all that great either. Idk, I think fans just need to appreciate good play rather than race or nationality. It sucks that foreigners can't seem to keep up at the moment but then maybe they need to step up their game and actually work to improve like the Koreans do (and I don't just mean putting in the hours, they need to practice against the best which atm means either going to Korea/practicing on Korean server or finding people who have trained in Korea to practice with). On August 01 2011 23:18 Bashion wrote: I dont understand why some people want to ban koreans from MLG. What you guys want? An Incontrol vs Machine final? And if europeans start to dominate the scene, you will want to ban them from NA tourneys too? You guys should care more about the quality of the games instead of nationality. Where can i find the replays? This. I know when I watch BW or SC2, I first and foremost want to see great games and great players. It's kind of saddening to see how so many people care more about race and nationality than the actual games themselves and it's not just from Americans. On August 01 2011 23:25 Trowa127 wrote: The thing that could solve this issue is to remove all the scrubs from Pool play. Inc, Machine, Drewbie etc, imagine if instead it was Major, QXC etc in Pool play? One of the reasons it always looks so bad is becuase the Koreans stomp Z class foreigners who earned their spot in Pools when no one knew what the hell was happening with SC2. Its a much more developed game these days and that shows. The A class foreigners were stomped as well. IdrA, Ret, Nani, the best placement for a foreigner was HuK and that was 7th. Do you really think qxc and Major are that much better than idra, nani, ret, sen, white-ra, etc?

There were actually very few tank battles... A lot of blue flame Hellions though. Also: 19 ravens, with seeker missiles.
