We'll see how good Destiny really is at MLG. Hopefully it won't be like Rets 15minutes at NASL. And Ret is surely not a bad player.
it won't be cuz at MLG, it's not single elimination. there's a loser's bracket

We'll see how good Destiny really is at MLG. Lets guess why so many people are raging when it comes to Destiny in this thread? Well can it be jealousy? or because 90% of the people raging are either bronze->diamond players which most of the people recalls as newbies. I stopped bother a long time ago. Except when it comes to people like "Bagi". People are angry becuase Destiny is a figure that divides the community, so its not suprising. You can't gauge his skill on his recent success though - especially when hes playing koreans, who have never seen this style before. Give it a few weeks (or even days, as I'm sure people at MLG will be looking to snipe him) for someone to develop a counter build and then we'll see how good Destiny is. yea, he made his infestor play a real secret. its not like he streamed it for 10h each day for the last weeks Do you honestly think pro players are going to watch someone like Destiny stream? You have to remember he hasn't won *anything* ever. People don't see him as a threat, so they get caught off guard. We'll see what happenes at MLG as I said. As a side note - 'UHH OHHH BOOBLORDSS!' So you're admitting that without cloak, sniping overseers, and having plenty of scans available, ghosts are ineffective against infestors?

Yes, without ghosts doing what ghosts do, they are ineffective against infestors.
1 Ghost being a-moved will not be able to completely annihilate an infestor threat.

Ghost with energy are effective against Infestors, and the entire Protoss army.
Ghost out range the other spellcasters, and even outrange vision. I hope you aren't arguing that ghosts are useless...

Well sure fair enough.
But please do consider that ghosts have a great supporting toolset if you use them correctly.

I think it's pretty obvious that Destiny's new style is the key to his recent success. And with new styles comes a "Surprise factor". People WILL figure this out, and I think it was very stupid of him to showcase this new style before MLG. He could of really done well at MLG, but I think everybody and their mother knows about this mass infestor style of his and will be well prepared for it.
Once this style is Figured out Destiny will sadly become just a streamer and a personality once again.

I disagree with the "Destiny's success will be surprised dependent." Sure, it HELPS when people aren't used to Ling-Infestor, but look at the Showmatch with Rain. Rain metagamed the shit out of him after the first 2 games and Destiny with toe to toe with a Top Terran who played the most abusive game he could and WON.
Sure Ghosts can reduce the Infestors impact, and people going Mech prevents Ling Infestor, but even so... Destiny is playing better than ever. Let's expect the best.
|
Let's be fair to Rain. He didn't really ever play super cheesy, in any of the games.
2 rax expand with only a few scv's pulled, 4 hellion pressure into expo into delayed cloaked banshees, 2 rax no pressure expand...

Ok let me put this into perspective. Your going into the open bracket of MLG - you look at the bracket, you see players like Alicia, Ganzi, Jinro, Tyler, Rain, DDE, Vibe, Major, DeMulism.. Pretty long list right? Do you think people are going to analyze his play over players who are much more 'obviously' dangerous?
And I did watch the IPL - I posted about his results in the IPL on the first and second pages. Can you not read? He lost in Winners and Losers bracket round 1. Mioraka, kinda supports my point when I say he hasn't won anything when he gets knocked out in the first round of the tournament you told me to watch eh?
I'm not even taking away from Destiny - hes a good player, he has good strategy's but people are making him out to be the new Nestea and it just isn't the case.

He has been doing this style for the past 2 months.
Andddd, if his first priority is to make money to feed his family, and streaming for 2 weeks means he makes more than getting first in MLG.
Why would he sacrifice streaming time and guaranteed income for a chance to get 5 thousand dollars in MLG?

Why are you mixing up posts?
Do you honestly think pro players are going to watch someone like Destiny stream?
Please, reading the LR thread =/= you watched IPL.
Anyone watched the Socke vs Destiny would obviously know Socke watched a shit ton of destiny's games.
If Socke didn't analyze his games...........do you think he would go straight for HT on two base to counter Infestor? Do you think he would build a cannon on the high ground behind XNC's third, just to stop sneaky infestor play?
As far as I know Socke doesn't do that against any other zerg. The score was 2-1, the games were extremely close. Yeah he lost in LR, but axlarv cannon rushed like a true Incontrol teammate...
No one is saying Destiny is nestea level, no one is even saying he's the best NA zerg, but can he compete with top level pros? I think he already did several times.
|
This thread is funny. The haters hate because he gets more attention than he should and give him the attention with their posts here.
The fanbois are annoyed that destiny doesn't get the respect that he deserves and hype him even more wich makes the haters hate even more.
|
Axslav cannon rushed one game and then out played him in game 3, exposing a gaping hole in his timing. Go read the first page, it seems you might need to get one of your friends to translate as I'm not sure if you can read English.
And I'm not mixing up posts, I'm avoiding a double post by replying to two people in the same post.
And to clarify ONCE AGAIN as you can't seem to understand this - I DONT THINK DESTINY IS BAD. I THINK HE IS GOOD. I just think there are large holes in his play that can and will be exploited, and that explain his lack of success in tournaments! If he clears out at MLG, I'll eat my own words and pm you an apology.
