The thing is, NesTea has himself stated in his interview that playing against Byun would make for more entertaining matches. This really does not bode well. NesTea with a week to pick apart LosirA's play makes me sadface like nothing else. I expect nothing less than a very one-sided finals.
I expect fairly long macro Zergs games, i don't think either can have much success trying to kill the other with baneling aggression, or roach timing attacks. Both of these players know these timings well.
IM also has so many good Zergs. The reason that Losira and Nestea are so good at ZvZ is from practicing with each other and their teammates. ( Horror, Junwi, True, who may not be great Zergs overall but i know all of them are quite good at ZvZ oddly enough) Any zerg that Nestea or Losira has faced so far hasn't had nearly the level or depth of ZvZ practice partners.
These are the reasons i believe this match will be much more competitive, seeing as they both will be playing vs an opponent who has had just as good ZvZ practice as they have.

Well that pretty much settles that, Nestea first 3 time GSL Champion.
I hope for some good finals games, But I feel like it may be kinda one sided.

My thoughts exactly. TvT is too slow to my liking and PvP looks usually like a coinflip (exceptions exist).

Even with the two best ZvZ players in the world involved, the chances of this being another average or horrible finals are pretty high imo. wouldn't count on it. Sen vs July at NASL 3rd/4th place matches were pretty nice, and they aren't even the best zergs. it should be pretty exciting, granted I was hoping not to have a mirror match-up as well Well I think the fact that both players are practice partners and know eachother so well also increases the chance of this being a shit finals since they likely are going to go with strats they may not be completely comfortable with to avoid doing something the other player knows foward and backwards.
Maybe, but HuK vs MC at HSC3 was exciting and I think that's comparable due to it being a volatile mirror matchup between two people that practice together all the time.
Still... ZvZ isn't exactly PvP, and HuK winning that was extra exciting for foriegner (especially a Canadian) beating a Korean. And they were still fairly lopsided in terms of result (although close in terms of play. The one on Tal Darim was INSANE).
Personally, I'm cautiously optimistic. I love watching ZvZ and really haven't watched enough of it since MLG Columbus. I missed Sen vs July

ZvZ has been shaping up to be a pretty interesting matchup as of late. Between intense baneling explosions and the interesting muta builds that we see sometimes, it's a good supplement to the roach/hydra/infestor wars. And I even find those enjoyable because you really get to see who outplays who in a very illustrated fashion.

it just seems to be focussed on mass roaches and infestors. haven't seen that many mutas recently.

Hmm a ZvZ... unfortunately with teammates who know each others play style. It honestly could be very interesting, but no matter what I really REALLY hope Nestea wins. Go Nestea!

To be fair in the late game slow push (with 2-3 thors and lots of marines) I don't think Zerg can reasonably run in to snipe the raven and it would save a bunch of scans.
Then again, by that time Terrans don't seem to care so much about their MULEs (which is odd given how amazingly useful their mineral dump unit is).

I think everybody just hates the build order wins and the "ups I made 2 drones less than him. gg!" situations in ZvZ. How is Losira's ZvZ? GOM Records say he beat Kyrix 2-0 once, Coca in group stages and Leenock in March code A. That doesn't say much... link

Looks like Nestea is gettin paid again. Hopefully they can actually make this a decent finals.

I can assure you it won't be a 4-0 :p

he has like a 80%++ at ZvZ. So nuts

stop saying nestea is a bonjwa in like every comment. he's good but not bonjwa yet. the thing is people who never followed BW just know of the names Jaedong/Flash as those zerg/terrans who are really good but have no idea just what they have accomplished and the magnitude of those achievements. jaedong has like 5 (6?) titles and is not considered bonjwa. flash on the other hand is considered bonjwa and has made 7 consecutive finals appearances. No player in GSL has even made 2 consecutive appearances so far.

The only matchup worse than PvP and somehow we get it. The curse of Code S finals continues...

can anyone imagine a 50 minute game zvz between these 2?

No.

the biggest problem with zvz is the small margin when attacking, defending on making drones, coupled with the fact that small lapses in judgement (ie. making to few drones or to many) can be exploited exponentially more at the pro level.

i'm just going to pollute this thread with the awful Paint picture I made while I was watching the GSL
Professor Tea and his student.
So glad it came true. Losira fighting!
|
Honestly, even if it turns out that Losira has a better ZvZ. I hope Nestea pulls out the overall victory!

Unfortunately this is a rare case where you get two exciting, talented players, but went confronted with each other (ZvZ) will most likely not produce epic games.
