When you open a stream, you get connected to a load balancer that redirects you to one of the many j.tv servers that have the khaldor/TB stream active (not all servers stream every stream). If the mostly randomly selected server has high load/many people connecting to it, the stream lags, if it has low load/few people connected, the stream will run fine. This is why sometimes refreshing solves the problem because you get connected to a new server, but usually you just get the same server again since the load balancer stores your IP. Streaming with such a huge number of viewers and a high number of parallel streams is quite a complex topic and j.tv is mostly doing a suprisingly good job - though sometimes i wish it would be just a tiny bit better :p | ||
