Oo, I had been hoping to read some of that specifically. Do you have a link?

I don't agree with this argument. Did golf die when Woods was dominating it? Did Tennis die when Nobody could beat Federer? No, it made the sports more popular than ever. If you like a sport or a game, you want to see the best players playing regardless of where they come from. I guarantee you there wouldn't be 50k people watching the NASL finals if some of the best players in the world weren't present, I know I wouldn't be watching.

It's a weekend. There is absolutely no reason to fuck over every single european by starting the finals at 2 am. I wonder how they decided this was a good idea. I will actually miss the matches because of this. As much as want to watch MC being boss, I have to consider my job and that means going to sleep before 2 am. It is the NORTH AMERICAN star league. Their goal isn't to cater to everyone in the world. They are picking the times that work best for NA viewers, and NA spectators at the event. Sorry, people don't want to show up at Noon to watch the finals just so some dick TL poster in Europe can get his sleep. They are trying to make it an event for the people in attendance. Several in attendance have said there are all sorts of things going on to pass the time. I believe they are doing this so that in the future they can continue to build it up so that more people will want to ATTEND in person where they can make some good money selling tickets to the EVENT. You know when the game times are, they are posted! you don't have to sit around and watch for 8 hours, just tune in when the game times start. All of them started on time yesterday and I'm sure they will today as well. So go do other things during the downtime quit staring at the stream. That is better than say MLG which will all the sudden take a random hour break and then next thing you know you've missed a game. I'm so sick of the Euro bitching about this event, specifically the time of the games. I've had to watch the GSL at 4AM constantly, and try to figure out how to watch European events at all sorts of hours as well. And I thought Americans were suppose to be the self centered ones, I appreciate you guys reminding me that it isn't Americans that is the problem, it is just people in general across the world that are the problem. Excuse me, I paid 25$ for this tournament. Not for attending live but to be able to watch high quakity content online.
Yes, I know when the games are supposed to happen. How is that helping me exactly?
You can't really compare GSL to any EU/NA event since they are right in between the time zones. No matter what they do one of us is always going to be in the middle of the night. Eu and NA events though, can actually adjust to each other but I guess NASL just wants NA fans.....

The best way to fill th time for both event goers and subscribers is to have showmatches. Have some dudes playing sc2, some new folks some pro gamers. Bronzie206 could have his game broadcasted for one match for the lols followed by day 9 ripping noob face in a team monobattle afterwards.
What is wanted is more sc2 doesn't have to be pro gamers playing for money. Heck, showing some diamond players might make the final event look even more awesome in comparison.

Yea it's quite obvious this event isn't designed for people watching but people at the event. A little sad they can't do both. It is just the direction they decided to go, if they catered more to the stream the people in attendance would have been like "damn that was lame I came all this way for 2 hours of SC on Saturday?" It baffles me that people are making statements like they have to tune in at the start of the event and sit through the first 2-3 hours. The game times are POSTED. Just go do other things and tune in when the games are slated to start according to the times in the OP. EVERY game yesterday started according to the time posted in the OP. People acted like they were tied to their computer chair and forced to sit there waiting for the next games. Go do something else and come back, that is what I did. Well they could have just had a double elim bracket and it would have catered for both. The simplest solution I can think of.
Actually it doesn't. That is what people don't get. You can't have games going on, and the events at the location. The lights are on and the players are signing autographs, mingling with the fans, there is a station that the players are playing ladder games and people are watching, etc.
If games are going on, the lights are off and they are casting. So you can't really have both with their CURRENT setup. Just tune in when the games are set to start. It is only a 9 hour event if you start watching from the first minute. Just pretend like the event starts when the games start, the times are posted you don't have to tune in for the opening ceremony.
Also MLG has in the past done a horrible job with their stream and viewers, stop bringing MLG up as this awesome smooth running SC2 event. That is a joke. It has had more disasters more events in a row. I can understand referencing Dreamhack and GSL but MLG? It was really a disaster until probably the most recent, ESPECIALLY for the stream. Have we all forgotten the day of what, 8 hours and NO games? I love the short memories, which is what is great for NASL. They get all this experience, make a few apologies, they'll learn and next thing you know nobody will remember any of this just like how all the sudden MLG is and has always been such a smooth running event.

And they won't even setup a rebroadcast. Very nice. There will always be complaining. If it began earlier, then you'd have people from Korea complaining that it's in the middle of the night, instead of in the morning. And there will be plenty of Koreans watching due to the players involved. Now you know how North America feels when they watch GSL at 5AM =P GSL audience target is Korean. NASL is both american and european, do you see the difference? And the korean audience for NASL will not be big... GSL, named Global Starcraft2 League, who hosted a "World All Star" team to come and compete not too long ago, who streams every single event in English, and just began the Player Exchange Program with MLG. That GSL? Their only target audience is Koreans? And why should Europeans get more preference from NASL than any Koreans, Chinese, or especially Taiwanese (Sen is in the tournament after all) who tune in? I don't mean to start a fight, but you seem very belligerent in arguing that your needs should be tended to over others who, to me, seem equally important.
The ratio is like 10kor/1foreigner...

this is especially so since i have a feeling 1 base scv all ins are going to be used at least once, if not more.
lol maybe because we know a little something something about the players? yes maps are good but players are a bigger factor here.

I was there yesterday. As far as "tons of things to do in the down time" goes, it really depends.
There are players who sign autographs, but the lines are obnoxiously long. They have a setup for hon if you are into that game. There are probably like 10 or so computers. White Ra was even playing yesterday. You can also watch players practice at a couple computers. Zenio was playing for quite a while. Aside from that, you are looking at sitting and waiting, socializing with others or eating.
There are some things to do, but not a whole lot.
On the plus side, it's very cold, which I liked. The time goes by pretty quick, a lot faster than watching it on stream. Having both watched the stream and watched in person, I would say it's a much better experience in person, albeit still kinda slow.

i don't think many koreans watch sc2 in korea. even less watch events held by foreign countries.
europe = 700 mil inhabitants, korea = 50 mil
so aligning the time for NA+europe would be the best choice. they should have planned to start the games at about 1pm.. and deleted the break between 3rd place match and finals.

Marketing pro tip: Get the hardcore/"elite" fans to follow you, the rest will always follow.
Translation: Always market to Koreans if you can.
