I can't even say that for a LOT of inner city Americans. His english is really improving. I like that he is making the effort to do it on his own, just like how Jinro learned Korean. I guess Huk said he is trying to learn Korean too, but he's not very good at it or something It's an incredibly difficult language for native English speakers. It's SO different. Wouldn't it be just as hard for Swedish people? Asian languages are not as hard as people make them out to be. The truth is that ALL languages are hard to learn. Asian languages might be slightly different, but like all other languages it's a matter of practice and application. Category III: Languages which are quite difficult for native English speakers88 weeks (2200 class hours)(about half that time preferably spent studying in-country)Arabic Cantonese Japanese KoreanMandarin Mongolian Taiwanese (Hokkien Min Nan) Wu You know Ive seen this elsewhere but I know Japanese is not very hard to learn. The entire language rests on what? 43 syllables was it? English alphabet alone is 26. Im told once all 43 syllables are learned its just a memory game. Writing it though? Forget it, Asian literacy for there own languages is terrible so I have no chance on earth. yea and about 2000 modern kanji GL. Fuck Kanji. That's written form. Not even the natives use Kanji outside of fairly formal writing. The literacy rates of Kanji is awful and if you watch any anime they poke fun at how not understandable it is all the time. I dont know outside of Japan but inside of it Hirigana and Katakana I think are like the only two written forms that are particularly used. Furigana is a new form which I think is Kanji with those small Hirigana characters describing the ambiguities between the Kanji. I should prob double check on wiki though. Thank god we live in this time.
Furigana just tells you how it's pronounced; it's just a reading aid. When dealing with Kanji, the pronunciation is not as important as the meaning. Fluency in Kanji doesn't come from knowing how it's pronounced. Instead, it comes form being able to instantly establish a connection between an ideograph and it's meaning.
Chinese people can usually read an article in a Japanese newspaper and some idea what it's about. Do they know how to say the word in Japanese? No. Does it matter? No.

korean means korean-trained. Goodness people. As far as nationality goes, doesn't he say he is Canadian-American?

All this nationalism in SC2 is downright annoying.

You all realise that probably the only reason MC is having trouble with Sen is that, before this series even happened, no one had a 'decent' answer towards MC's stargate opening. MC is just adjusting to this 'answer' and therefore is having troubles. There's a first time for everything.
Sure you could say if it was Nestea executing this style MC woulda gotten roflstomped, but let's face it - this is probably the first time a zerg gotten into the lategame(and in a decent position at that) with MC opening stargate. Yes, if Nestea was executing this style and it was the first time MC had seen it, MC would have probably lost.
But if Nestea executes it after this match(which he most certainly will), MC would have already experienced it and be a little more comfortable with it.
Regarding the argument about whether Huk is korean blah blah, there are two different angles people view it. First - if you're born korean - you're korean. Second, if you're born foreign but train in korea - you're korean.
It's all just a matter of context. Anyone can argue regarding those two points and that debate will never end for a very obvious reason.
Regarding learning of languages, it's just basically the same thing as everything in life. The amount of effort and dedication you put into it will determine how easy/hard it is to learn that language. Unless you're a natural.
Regarding who is more consistent and stuff. Two sides to the argument. The first - results on paper. The second - average gameplay. This one will probably never end.
