Alicia has used it to decent success. He usually transitions quickly into storm and charge while getting armor upgrades. I think it relies on Terran being really scared of DTs and never moving out. Tassadar's mistake was going for a 6gate after DTs failed to do any damage.

The Genius game last night was as much the other guy failing to capitalize as it was Genius having good crisis control (for lack of a better term). I'm reluctant to say that's a good example of DT expand working.

I think the people who are criticizing the DT expand build are missing the point. It's not meant to do win, it's just meant to get your expansion up safely and then allow you to transition.

He assumes that the 4 gater will continue warping in units and never attacking until he runs out of minerals to continue warping in units, obviously. 4 gate can be sustained if you attack with your units and stop probes at saturation.

Um...the supply block is not a mistake Wolf. You will get blocked if you go CC before 2nd depot.

If the discussion is about can you sustain 4 gate on one base with ~30 probes than the pylons should be included in the calculation.

Genius's DT expand worked because he is a better player than his opponent.

If your DT don't do any damage, it's not a very good build, there are more economic openings that are also safe.

It just happens to be a build that is easy to do damage against poor players.
