Sadly it seems I have to put this up yet again. Any of the following types of posts will be met with immediate bans:

Imbalance whine/Player bashing/Caster bashing/Stream complaining/Off topic arguing.

Stick to the games and enjoy the event and its free services and coverage.

No offense but that's a pretty stupid comment from Torch. Interacting with the community doesn't make you a worse gamer by any means. Korean dominance has more do to with the (politically incorrect) fact that the average intelligence is higher in Korea and in East Asia in general, and that is also the reason China is pumping out millions of engineers and scientists, and Japan is a leader in hi-tech industries.

this is not a valid argument. IQ-tests are more or less irrelevant, and i want a source for that picture. iq correlates fine with amount of education and a very large portion of china gets very little of it at a poor quality

the amount of engineers from for example china is fairly low compared to their total population

The thing that is true in all other sports: If you practice more, and practice with the best, you become the best. Why would it be any different in e-sports?

That the koreans, in this case, performs so well consistently is a sign that SC2 functions well as a sport.

Just out of curiosity, if Huk hypothetically won, would people count him as a foreign player or a Korean player?

There's so much lamenting here over Korean dominance, yet Huk is not out yet, and he's proven that he can definitely keep up with Korean players. He did beat MMA, after all.

It doesn't change much even if Huk ends up winning the whole tournament. Huk is a foreigner technically, but is a in the Korean scene definitely. This would still prove that Korean scene > Foreign scene

lol now we have IQ debates to explain Korean dominance in SC2. God I didn't think this could get worse than the argument of huk being a korean. Time to close this LR thread tab.

What do you say to that kind of argument? I guess nothing would be the best choice.

Let me count the number of world class asian chess players really quick... oh, that didn't take long. Maybe culture has a little to do with it in the end, but I don't know, my IQ is only western european.

Try counting world class non asian go professionals. You'll only need one hand.

Which is exactly my argument, in case you didn't notice.

I really dont get about the argument about living in South Korea take away the opportunity from many tournmanets. When clearly we sees that the players with top skills are invited to the most prestigious tournaments and getting good results, instead of participating in many no name tournaments.

I sincerely cannot believe that IQ is being brought up to reason why Koreans are dominating. Really? Have we sunk that low?

Lol this right here.

As other responses to that hilarious "I post a map with colours demonstrating why Koreans are better at starcraft 2 herp derp" post have already said, it is the pre-existing starcraft culture, as well as team houses and the training environment from those houses that ensures Korea's continued dominance of Starcraft 2. That being said, We are looking at the best from Korea against the best from around the world. In Starcraft BW pretty much anyone from Korea could almost always sweep the floor with foreigners, regardless of skill level relative to other foreigners (yes there are always exceptions but you get the point).

Uh the reason IQs in africa are so low has nothing to do with Africans being dumber and everything to do with IQ tests being culturally skewed towards a western idea of intelligence. IQ does not equal general intelligence, there is a correlation but it's certainly not a true indicator of intelligence
