From the people who brought you The World Allstars vs Team IM, CotH: StarTale, and CotH: Incredible Miracle comes even more Korean in-house warfare! CSN is proud to announce six more Clash of the Houses events, highlighting every game, featuring the best, and supplemented by player and coach interviews from each event! BUT WAIT! There's more...!
The 8 house winners from the SlayerS, Prime, TSL, ZeNEX, HoSeo, IM, ST and MvP will fight to the death for a coveted prize: an all-expense paid trip to compete at MLG Columbus!
Be sure to watch and find out which Korean pro YOU could face in the MLG Starcraft 2 Open Bracket!
Number of players, tournament format, and map choices were left largely up to the individual houses to decide in order to minimize interference with regular team practice. See each house individually for a description of the format used (either full group, two groups with play-off, or single-elimination bracket).
House tournaments were held in both group-play and bracket format with a 115,000 KRW prize pool: 1st place = 70,000 won 2nd place = 25,000 won 3rd & 4th place = 10,000 won each
The eight winners (one from each house) will enter a single-elimination bracket (playing best-of-3 match-ups against their opponents) to determine an overall Clash of the Houses champion.
1st place = 70,000 won 2nd place = 25,000 won 3rd & 4th place = 10,000 won each

Episode 0: World All-Stars vs. IM House (Aired on 4/7/11) + Show Spoiler +
Note: Information will be added/updated as the event progresses
Teams will select one player at the beginning of the tournament to play first, not knowing who their opponents will be. The winning player will stay in the "Hot Seat" and will challenge the next opponent from the opposing team. The player that wins stays in the seat while the player that loses is eliminated from the tournament in its entirety. The team with the last man standing wins!
I'm really confused, are these koreans in supplement to the people invited to MLG? I asked Sundance on twitter and he basically said "4" but obviously theres more then four koreans going to MLG. Also, somewhere it says that the korean participants would be announced by the end of this week, (i think it might be announced on SOTG tomorrow).
edit: nvm just noticed they are fighting for one spot
Koreans would much rather participate in GSL with 87000 USD for winning not like MLG with such little winning prize All koreans think ACE will go there and destroy all foreigners just like IEM but yet ACE is not even in CODE A

GSL game days and MLG I believe do not coincide with one another, due to mutual agreement by both parties.

That's the amount for Open Season winnings and the Super Tournament, though. Consider that winning an MLG puts them in the running for the National Championship, which awards $50k to the winner. That's about as much as the winner gets (give or take) for the regular season tourneys.
While this is pretty cool, would be a lot better if you paid for the top player in each pro-house to attend MLG. Regardless though, I applaud the effort and can't wait to see whoever qualifies get destroyed by the foreigners in Columbus!

You are misinformed.
GSL gives you a little less than 50k USD now, while taking a month to compete in... that is not including having to qualify for code a, getting into the up down, then getting into code s and winning.
While the other tournaments are weekend long events with just straight up tournament formats.
I think your confusing sponsors not paying for the plane tickets/hotels and having prior GSL commitments with them not wanting to participate.

MLG takes place during the GSL Super Tournament, which is the same thing as the Open Seasons in terms of format and the prize money.

From what I read, one player from each "House" is getting an all expense paid trip courtesy of CSN/MLG to MLG Columbus, 8 in total. The houses are: StarTale (July), IM (Junwi), SlayerS, HoSeo, ZeNEX, MVP, TSL, and Prime (unfortunately, no fOu or oGs). The players are selected based on the KoTH tournament results that CSN has been running.

Not exactly right. The way it's working is, there's one winner from each house. Those winners fight against one another in a Bracket style format, eventually determining which 1 of those 8 will win the all-expenses paid trip to MLG.

No, one player from each team competes in a tourney to decide the one player that goes to MLG

I read it differently. Correct me if I am wrong, but the KoTH's are what qualifies one player from every house to compete in an 8 player tournament. The winner of that tournament is the only one who gets to visit MLG. Sending 8 people would be very expensive so I believe this is what the tournament is set up to do.
This is awesome, I hope most of the good europeans can come to MLG aswell. There have been some europeans on the previous MLGs but alot that weren´t able to go.
Hmm, too bad oGs isn't participating... So is it that all 72 players are fighting for _ONE_ slot?
If so, I really hope some players are sent there through their own sponsors or whatever. I wouldnt really consider MLG 'having koreans' if it was just 1. Or even just 4. =/
This event is separate from anything to do with who/what MLG is doing for their event in Columbus. CSN took the initiative to do this on our own, our goal is to promote American eSports and to unite the communities in a more broad sense. This event isn't all about money or coming to compete for money, this gives the community a chance to really interact/compete against a professional Korean SC2 player.

Cool, that's how I understood it, too. One question tho: MLG usually announces players whose participation is confirmed some time prior to the tournament (I think they are about to announce them this week). Since you are obviously casting from replays (aren't you?), could we potentially be spoiled for the results of this tourney if we see this playerlist (i.e. if we see IMJunwi or KeenMvP or whoever)?
I like the idea behind this, but I would just like to know:
When you ran the events for IM and ST did you inform them that the winner could go to MLG? If not it doesn't seem quite fair to players like MVP and Nestea that didn't participate because they may have thought it not worth the time taken away from practicing.
That is just a minor thing and overall good work, should be very interesting.
but i dont understand the results of the IM house after 2 matches yoda and losira have the same score and they didnt play each other so why did losira advance and why didnt they play each other?
1. IMNestea and IMMvp were not on-location when we ran the IM tournament and the IM coach, as well as one or two others, wanted to take the opportunity to showcase other players (A trip to MLG is neat and all, but for Top 8 players it could pose a threat to their serious practice schedules.
2. The Korean CSN is bringing is in a separate situation from the ones chosen by MLG, so the names of the announced MLG players will not spoil any CotH results. This is a project that we took wholly upon ourselves.
3. While it WOULD be awesome to bring all 8 players out, it would also be RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. CSN is focusing on creating an awesome experience for our selected player in order to pave the way for more player exchange programs in the future!
4. fOu and oGs are not participating because they did not respond in time to our requests to run a house tournament (and isn't 8 such a nice, braket-friendly number?). We look forward to including them in future events, time and interest permitting.
5. Sorry the trailer is cheesy! The WCG Ultimate Gamer trailer was our inspiration, and you can't get too far from cheeseball with that as your point of origin. ;D

Oh? Well I won't comment what I wanted to since I know what you mean.
Anyway, I think it depends on the quality of the player. If we get a Losira/Nestea/MC/MVP/bomber/etc. I would consider there is Korean representation. In the same way, if Europe only had Naniwa and White-Ra, I would still consider it as having Europeans (just because those are at the top level of their region, and as good as any).
This is incredibly awesome of CSN to do! What a nice group of baller nerds! Is great to have the possibility of seeing July in a tournament such as MLG.

Al very interesting news. The link and fulll atricle below.
We are very excited that we are able to bring you this good news.
Since the start of the GSL series on September 4th of last year, we have been working for the development of eSports not only in Korea but also around the world. We have also been trying to build relationships with other eSports organizations.
The goal of GSL in 2010 was to promote and build the foundation of the League.
At the start of year 2011, the regular (sponsorship) league was launched and we believe this year is the time to encourage continuous participation of players from all over the world in GSL and establish cooperation between GSL and foreign eSports organizations.
In pursuit of our goal, we have been providing 4 Code A seeds to non-Korean players. GOM House was also set up in order to provide a place to stay and practice for the foreign players.
In order to reach our goal, we have decided to start a program named "League Exchange" in cooperation with MLG.
We are happy to be working with a great organization like MLG.
MLG and GSL will be employing the following exchange program:
Pro Circuit Players Competing in the GSL
At MLG Columbus, the Top 3 non-Korean finishers will each be placed into GSL Code A.
At every 2011 Pro Circuit Live Competition after MLG Columbus, GSL placement will occur as follows:
Code S status will be awarded to the highest placing player, regardless of country of origin, who doesn’t already have Code S status.
Code A status will be awarded to the next 3 highest placing non-Korean players.
If Code S status is awarded to a Korean player, Code A status also will be awarded to the 4th highest placing non-Korean player.
All travel and accommodation expenses for these players will be provided by the GSL.
GSL Pro Players Competing on the MLG Pro Circuit
MLG will invite four Korean pro players to each Pro Circuit Live Competition.
These players will be placed directly into the Championship Pools, one into each Pool.
Their placement in the Pools will be determined by their GSL rank.
All travel and accommodation expenses for these players will be provided by MLG.
For MLG Columbus, we will also be inviting the winner of the CSN tournament, currently in progress. This player will be seeded into the Open Bracket, and their travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by CSN.
The Players The following four GSL pro players will attend MLG Columbus.
ST_Bomber
IM.Losira
SlayerS_MMA
TBA
Shortly put, there will be a player exchange program for top GSL rankers and top notch players from MLG, the biggest league in NA region.
Thus you will be able to watch the MLG winner, runner-up and other top rankers display their skills in GSL and watch Korean GSL players showcase their skills in MLG events.
In addition, the winner of the recent Rakaka tournament held in Sweden will also receive GSL Code A seed and will be staying and practicing at the GOM House.
We want to give our greatest appreciation to the Rakaka Logitech Tournament for making this possible and we are looking forward to future cooperation between GOMTV and Rakaka.
GSL is always open to ideas for the worldwide cooperation and development of eSports.
We also welcome cooperation that will be beneficial to the viewers and players. We promise to work hard to bring you a better and more interesting tournament.
Oh shit hot damn, Bomber, Losira, MMA and wheover else they choose is a BALLER lineup. And the exchange with Code A is pretty cool too. Not liking the MLG winner being sent straight to code S though, I think that's a bit much and unfair..... But hot damn shit's indeed gettin' real, love this league exchange idea

Does anyone else think this is a bit too much? I mean, the idea of having Koreans at MLG is awesome! I do not like that they will be supplanting 4 foreigners from MLGs Championship Bracket though. Given the perceived skill level of the Korean players, they should not find it difficult to advance through the Open Bracket and earn their spot in the Championship bracket.
In the same vein, the idea of having more foreigners in the GSL is exciting. But isn't automatically qualifying the winner of MLG and the subsequent top 3 foreigners for Code S and Code A respectively, too much? I guess it could be said that with a Korean representation at MLG, the winner may be justified as a Code S caliber player but that's only if the Korean representation itself continues to be Code S (ST_Bomber and IM.Losira). There is the potential, however, for the Koreans to take the top 4 spots in the tournament. As a result, the foreigners that finish 5-8 automatically earn a seed in Code A.
Overall, it seems to me that the GSL has a lot more to lose in this exchange program and that MLG has a lot more to gain. The GSL is widely considered to be the most competitive Starcraft 2 tournament in the world and now run the risk of watering down their Code A tournament with 4 players that won't have necessarily proven themselves capable of competing at a Code A level. While MLG, on the other hand, has the luxury of inviting any 4 Korean players that they wish to attend.
As a final thought, will the Korean invites be the same for the entire season? If not, will the new invites take the spot of the Koreans who were invited previously? If one Korean doesn't retain Championship Bracket status, does the new invite supplant another foreigner so that they don't have to go through the Open Bracket when they come to compete?
EDIT: looks like MLG has modified their tournament to accommodate the 4 additional Korean players so no foreigners will be moved down to the Open Bracket.

"Pitting teammates against teammates"- wow, you guys are dicks! In all seriousness though, this is amazing. It's going to help e-sports grow, and be epic to watch as well.
Team mates are used to playing against one another, especially in a competitive manner. Some of the most intense strategy games come when you face the people that know you the best and there is a prize on the line.

Just a small correction: the TLPD Link for Happy in the World All-Stars vs IM team match is for the EU player, not the Korean IMHappy (http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/sc2-korean/players/2745_IMHappy).
Probably a mistake from the auto-recognition.
That said, if the games aren't played yet, this is a damn tight schedule before Columbus! :lol Doing 3 houses in the last month, and now there are 5 more tournaments + the final 8 brackets to be played in the week before Columbus.

Basically what the poster says above. The player who wins/won this tournament has to enter the qualifying rounds similar to what Naniwa last tournament or am i missing something? Alot of money from the organisers to splash out on this.

Pardon me but I humbly disagree.
Our coverage for the SlayerS COTH can all be found at the link below, including write-ups of each match and quick results for those in a hurry.
As for the NSHoseo COTH coverage, we had a huge amount of technical difficulties, and as such, the finals of that particular series will be broadcast just before the start of the ZeNEX COTH. Along side that all the coverage material will be released. We had terrible luck with a massive storm passing over our Streamer/Observer's house so ultimately there has been a lot of restructuring to consider in the process.
Results section is sort of messy and the style in which it is presented for each house is inconsistent. Looking forward to seeing MKP or July
P.S. is there a way to see who will be competing in the remaining house clashes? For example I see that NesTea wasn't in the IM clash, and I'm wondering why... Does this mean I can't necessarily assume MKP will be there for the Prime clash?

NesTea doesn't actually live at the IM House, so as such wasn't there when their tournament occured. MKP does take part in the Prime house COTH.
Thanks. Also I see that there are posted dates for when the clashes occur... It looks like a few have already occurred, such as HoSeo, but the results aren't posted. Is there a place I can go to look? Also, is there a stream up that covers these?

Pardon me but I humbly disagree.
Our coverage for the SlayerS COTH can all be found at the link below, including write-ups of each match and quick results for those in a hurry.
As for the NSHoseo COTH coverage, we had a huge amount of technical difficulties, and as such, the finals of that particular series will be broadcast just before the start of the ZeNEX COTH. Along side that all the coverage material will be released. We had terrible luck with a massive storm passing over our Streamer/Observer's house so ultimately there has been a lot of restructuring to consider in the process.
I hope this answers your queries and concerns
I thought buildings were immune from Psionic storms. Blizzard should fix that. Anyway, looking forward to remaining matches + final.

Hah! So did I but it turns out that our Streamer's house has taken on a life of it's own .
One could wonder, I was dissapointed with their information and coverage of this, but got kindly told it was just certain circumstances that time
Now we're here again with similar situation, no idea if/when/how/who is playing tonight.. had so much hope for this tournament, but they managed to.. make it less enjoyable to follow
Hoping that vods for the TSL house will be up before MLG, I loved the strategy that was employed by Revival against Alive, and was hoping to study it and get the build. Hope you guys get it updated!
CotH: StarTale - Here CotH: Incredible Miracle - Here CotH: Slayers - Here CotH: Zenex - Part 1Part 2 CotH: MVP - Here CotH: TSL - Here CotH: Prime - Here
CotH: HoSeo was really fragmented, but you can find it Here along with all other broadcasts.
Come on MKP! If he made it to MLG he'd crush everybody. He'd probably own the entire Open bracket with just a handful of marines and his amazing micro.
