I was the 1st or 2nd person to sign up, and I'll definitely be the 1st or 2nd one knocked out! GLHF everyone.

Good news everyone, I just got our prize pool approved!

Prize Pool breakdown: $50,000 total

1st - $15,000
2nd - $10,000
3rd - $6,000
4th - $4,000
5th/6th - $1300
7th/8th - $1000
9th-12th - $800
13th-16th - $600
17th-24th - $400
25th-32nd - $200

Basically, we want to still reward people for their time, so anyone who qualifies will receive at least $200 for their efforts, while still scaling up for some nice rewards for the top players!

Pretty solid breakdown, though I wish we'd see only 10-12.5K (20-25%) of prize pool going to first. Still a huge improvement over most tournament prize distribution (mainly the GSL, where first gets so much more money than everyone else).

Just a quick question though... wouldn't the payouts be 5-8th, 9-16th, 17-32nd? Why so many brackets?

Just in case anyone capable to change stuff reads this, please use some better VOD system in the next season. It was extremely annoying to be forced to jump between different sites to watch hd vods and then to VOD list. Other then than i enjoyed the tournament. GL with season 2.

Because it's double elimination, the loser's bracket breaks down like that. See their season 1 bracket: http://www.ign.com/ipl/starcraft2/tournaments/best-of-the-west

Looks like a pretty good prize money break down.

Glad to see the money split runs so deep. This is a better model for future events and sustainability of the profession.

Probably the best prize distribution out of any major tournament. Huge props for that.

I'm really confused why SeleCT is signed up... did he not win 3rd place in IPL? He should already be qualified.

Yeah, I included him on my spam reminder to sign up message to the pros on my skype by accident. He doesn't have to qualify and is no longer signed up.

Oh man that basically means each qualifier has a $200 Prize pool; and if they do well it gets exponentially larger.

8 will move on from the first, second and third qualifier, so each of these qualifiers is $1,600 at least.

Pretty awesome for an open event.

Pretty awesome for an open event.

All the tournaments combined are actually worth $15,000. That is saying that the top 4 people from last season are top 4 again, and the rest of the prize money is distributed to the rest of the qualifying players. Very impressive.

Yeah I'll just chime in and say the prize pool has the best distribution I've seen so far. This way, no effort will be a wasted effort.

Tons of big names already :o This will be stacked.

Nice to see a prize pool that isn't as top heavy as a lot of tourneys around.

select is already qualified so he wont need to sign up for the qualifiers unless he can still enter them but surely not?

i think this prize pool and the open brackets is so rockstar. Maybe see some break free from the pack no one has ever seen. I am also hoping someday to cast the ipl.
