loveCD is korean? it says so in the results page. Cool. Its awesome if a Chinese wins this.

If you watched the Chinese broadcast you'd notice that the English casters missed a ton, like why MC had those stalkers in Ace's base to scout the twilight council in the first place. There was like a two minute long micro battle where MC traded his first three stalkers for a zealot, three stalkers, and forced a big probe pull and got the twilight council scout. And after the first DT was deflected he hunted down a second DT. Just a lot of stuff like that missed. They should watch the games beforehand or something so they actually get a full view of what's going on and can show some small but important things that turn the battle.

Think he's Chinese. Probably just a typo by Diamond.

I hope to god the semis don't end up being 4 protoss.

It's pretty crazy how possible it is for a 4 protoss semifinals.
Lovett and xiaOt are more than capable of making it happen

Yea it would be pretty wild too if three of the four semi-finalists were Chinese. 0_o

Did you actually watch the cast or are you guessing? I know today I saw all the events you are talking about. I know Ralecun even went so far as after the battle going back to MC's base, selecting some sentries to check if MC had seen the Dark Shrine or not and even very clearly highlighted the fact that he did not see it.
Also pre-screening replays is a horrible idea and I don't think any caster out there does so. How do you cast a game when you know everything that happens?
Edit: Rewatched the video. Sure the battle in the middle was missed but nothing really happened. They caught the stalkers in the base and the probe pull and all that. So I really am not sure what exactly you are talking about.

Toss is the go-to OP race for wc3 Chinese at the moment. There are barely ANY terrans in the Chinese server.
Also Diamond, will you guys be covering the G联赛2011 tourny? The prizepool is 170000 Yuan, thats like 26k USD. HongUn, Sen, Moon and most Chinese players are playing in it too.
(I'm in sen's division so I'm not expecting to make it out of it hahahaha)

I have to say, well done Iccup for covering this starwars event. The video quality/stability of a few vods on youtube could be a little bit better, but thanks so much for documenting "the rise of the Chinese" (in SCII terms).
LoveCD, loveTT, XiaoT are all total beasts, destroying foreign and korean nerds left and right. I hope to see some of them in GSL soon if not participating in more tournaments.
Btw is there a WCG China qualifiers going on? I saw some vods on youku regarding it.

Ok so I missed a couple of the Dimaga/Lovecd matches so I'm watching to the VOD. That sim city on G2 was so sick, Makes 16 nex look pretty strong vs Zerg on that map. Very cool shit coming out of China.

Diamond -- I'm lazy and stupid: can you link your VODs? ^_^

Lovecd had no experience with RTS games what so ever prior to SC2 and probably just learned the tactics from LoveTT or Super(another BW player) from his team. In fact the only chinese with a background in wc3 in this tournament is xiaOt.
Or you could look at the fact that WC3 is very big in China and to say Lovett never touched it might be stretching it a little.
Also I am sure the fact that Lovecd is Sky's brother probably meant he has played Wc3 once or twice....

To my understanding, not many of the ex-BW players continued into SCII professionally. F91, LoveTT are the ones I've seen. PJ + the other WCG representatives have either retired, yet to switch, or still "incubating" (training up and then unleashing their power).
LoveCD is definitely a ex-Wc3 player, training with his brother's team I think.
But the point is that the Chinese will abuse any "style" of play as they see fit, whether or not they are from broodwar or wc3 - it's the way Chinese RTS gamers roll. They will sort out all the builds and refine the ones that have the least risk for the most reward. They will copy the best and then try to come back and beat you. See WCG starcraft - Pj, LoveTT, F91, Legend, all great players who are capable and have taken games off Koreans (Stork haha). I would expect the Chinese to advance to the forefront of SCII once the WC3 international scene starts drying out and their domestic wc3 league becomes stale.

Pretty much agree with most of that. I would have NEVER imagined that 16 nex would work in PvZ on Xel'Naga Caverns.
