Imagine 10 years ago some music producer saying, "we're aware that many of our CDs are scratched or producing poor audio. In the meantime, Napster would be a good workaround."

In a lot of them that don't involve people directly paying for a product?

Other than leaking the bracket (please IGN do everything you can to ensure this will never happen again, although I doubt this needs to be said at this point =p), IGN has handled their entire first venture into eSports amazingly well. props

You're paying for it with your eyeballs, and it is extremely important to us that your eyeballs are able to get to our content in a spoiler free, high quality, enjoyable fashion.

Sir, you can have my eyeballs, I'd trust my eyesight with IGN if that means getting the bestest players and the highest production value for the industry. I luckily wasn't spoilered very hard, but the fact that people from IGN actively engage on this forum and other communities just proves how much they, like White-Ra would say "care". But what I do wonder however is for season 2, will they keep the same format, with commentators casting from replays and then rebroadcasting? Or will they change it up a bit, what I would like to see is like an 'MC' who talks the different matches together. Because now it's a bit of games loosely hanging together, and there's very little overlap, if you know what I mean. Really looking forward to what season 2 will bring.

Ideally we are planning on having a main MC-type of person who will pull the broadcast together and talk about what's upcoming and the significance of certain matches.

I read the mainpost, I realize casters are a matter of preference and taste. But I like to give some constructive feedback on the way HDstarcraft & PainUser casted which I think could be improved. The entire game (I've watched it all the way to the end) PainUser was explaining to HDstarcraft how the game works. HD makes a wrong comment, PainUser then says he doesn't agree and then thoroughly explains to HD why it is wrong. Now this is truly distracting. They are really side-tracking constantly. It feels like I'm watching a lesson rather than a commentary of a match. The match just seem to run in the background and trigger discussion between PainUser & HDstarcraft. I grabbed a random other replay (kiwikaki vs Idra) which followed mostly the same protocol. This is just not the way I think a match should be casted. I like to enjoy the match. Instead I'm listening to a conversation between a teacher and a student. I feel HDstarcraft just doesn't have the same amount of understanding about the game, therefor making wrong suggestions/assumptions so just incorrect overall analysis. Nothing against the guy, he has a good voice, style manner etc.. please don't interpret my words as flaming. Especially if they cast from replays, maybe PainUser and HD can have the discussion on beforehand and just focus on the game during the cast?

And so far you are succeeding as far as I am concerned, very enjoyable experience so far, except for some minor issues, mentioned earlier in this thread. I am a vod watcher though, as the games are broadcast when I am asleep .

This gives an interesting and new perspective and helps showcase the map the players will be focusing on. It also has a cinematic feel apropriate for the intro to the game. Finally new viewers not familiar with starcraft would have a couple moments to become familar with what this game is about before being bombarded with the rather intimidating UI 2) The player perspective is awesome. It shows just how intense professional starcraft is with the players 1st person view zooming back and forth at blazing 300 apm. At the same time it can be nauseous for those who arnt used to it. It might be worth a try to instead show the players perspective as an overlay box in the lower right or left corner. This would allow players to continue following whats happening in the main screen while at the same time get information about what actions the player is focusing on. One more 3) Zooming-in and/or rotating on units during moments of downtime can show off the graphic prowess of this game. It sacrifices information but can be interesting if used sparingly.
