Losers bracket + extended series feels more like a punishment than a second chance. Wish it wasn't like that. Horrible as a spectator, impossible to support.
Love the Idra interview. His play frustrates me at times and he seems far too emotional, but he's so eloquent (for lack of a better word) in his interviews. Funny guy. Good value for sure!

are there gonna be VODS ?

Holy fuck this thread is growing fast as fuck, are you kidding me.
Mind = blown that so many watch MLG

Is that right? inControL actually placed 4th out of over 200 people by going 8-6? Really? This format favoring the top seeds is just terrible. And NaNiwa played so many more games, it would've been a travesty had he not won it in the end.
I agree, the tourny format is skwed and not really fair to those who havent played an mlg event.

Yeah that disparity is incredibly silly for what's suppose to be a "major tournament". Top 16 have a different path, then the 4 winner's bracket players have a different path, then the 12 loser's bracket players have a different path. Naniwa was a beast and showed it by wrecking EVERYONE that came across him.
Tournaments are suppose to be about X amount of players all playing under the same set of rules to see who comes out at the end. Not the abomination MLG has created.

really would like to watch some games without lag etc.

It's about winning BO3's not winning individual games or win loss ratio, though the tournament certainly favors top seeds. Naniwa went 26-2, but he could of lost 13(?) more games and still won the tournament as long as those losses were at the right times.

In his defense, those 6 losses came from much more competent progamers than the 20 wins of NaNiwa while he was tearing up the open bracket.
NaNiwa defeated the following during the open bracket
Drakke Mattman333 sung123 ----- Progamers Appear ------ Pokebunny Tri_Master Sijax_VIBE
iNControL I would argue could provide similar results had he gone through the same bracket, possibly not 2-0 in each game, but defiantly a win in each.
As for the format, although it isn't perfect, the best change I can think of would be to change way the pools worked. With 5 people in each group, let the top 4 from each get seeded into a double elimination Ro16, using the results from the groups and previous results in the case of ties.

The replays will come out later, but if the follow the fom of previous MLGs, they won't come in the form of a replay pack, but rather as a set of replays that you have to download individually from each match. However, if you wait about a day, someone will upload the replays as a pack later ^^.

Yeah we should really just be awarding places based on how many games they played.

Another PvP finals, eh
As there are no upper-tier zergs there, I don't suppose any replays are worth watching for a zerg player. :|

Did they actually have SOTG tonight?

Both idra and machines games are worth watching, they brought out some amazing PvZ and even though in some matches didn't pay off, I think they've really pushed forward the match up. They also lost to terrans.

Ya man, it sucks so much that instead of seeing some random idiots get stomped on Friday and Saturday, we instead get treated to some amazing match ups.
The format is just so bad...
Also iNControL went 8-6 against other pro gamers, not people no one has ever heard of.
MLG format is fine and should stay as is, if you want a better seed perform better in the previous MLG.

Ever seen B.Net Attack? It's when a progamer goes on b.net and challenges the public to a game. Hilarity throughout. So watching NaNiwa rip up some scrubs could've been entertaining.

Yah, I really wanted Poke to go further, but he ran into the Nanimonster. Next time Poke will turn heads.

"what if" arguments are always bad, you can't just state things like "TLO would have won if there were no extended series". It just doesn't work that way, no one knows how incontrol or tlo would have played if the score had been 0-0 instead of 2-0.

To be fair, Kiwi and Select had to go through some notable players in the open bracket. There were a lot of big names not seeded and the group stage is just for placement purposes. If you win your group you are in a really good position. I'm still very happy for Inc. As the guy certainly deserves it.
The open bracket is like running a marathon whereas the group stage is like running the 2000m. Both different beasts. Change is highly unlikely though as MLG gets to showcase marque matchups right from the get-go while the open bracket gets underway. It's a very smart marketing ploy.

Incontrol has placed well in previous MLGs, you should take those games in account too if you complain about his seeding.
