Select vs. Incontrol

I guess that the first winner brackets matchup is a bit of a "grudge match". Acording to Incontrol won't Select speak to him after that affair at last years MLG.

I had forgotten that lol.

Should be interresting.

What happend last MLG?

Maybe you're just completely fucking wrong and have no idea whether he's good or not.

To be fair, inControl hasn't put up many great results previously, and upheavals assumptions aren't completely wrong either: incs pool was arguably easier than the rest and he did cheese (and apologize) TLO (I didn't catch the other games so I won't comment on anything else).

I've watched his stream for hours, I think I have a pretty good gage on how strong he is. But you are right, I'm just basing myself on him getting his ass handed to him by 3800 masters consistently. Maybe better players brings out his best. Thanks for helping lose my illusion.

Yep. IdrA checks his closet for Void-Rays before going to bed every night.

The format is really stupid. Everyone except the players who played last MLG's have to do a SeleCt run to even get into the tournament lol..

I say select vs Naniwa or Sjow in the grand finals. Would be nice with a big TvT as the final.

I hope so, either of those 3 battling would be a great final. Dignitas own!

But since protoss dominates so often lately the smart money should be on a PvP finals, and Naniwa looks so strong right now along with KiWiKaKi.

yup, while Huk was 150 to 190 (or 18x) supply with all his stalkers badly positioned in the fight, IdrA just left.

Pretty sure NaNiwa will take the tournemant, he played amazingly well thus far.
Even though the match against KiWi is dangerous as it is PvP.

a mix of mediocre pool and a "lucky" (in the sense tlo didnt fucking scout lol and had poorly build to handle the vray) 2-0 over tlo by all ins.

O.o That's insane. Compare that to Naniwa going 24-0 to be at the same spot. What was the argument for pool play again? Oh yah, so they could always stream TOP games...oh the hilarity.

or compare it to kiwikaki going 4-0 vs Huk, Idra, Socke and Gretorp while Incontrol goes 3-1 vs mihai, TLO, Painuser and Slush.
The format is really stupid. It continues now in the championship bracket. Sheth and qxc have to go through Huk, Idra and Ret whilst Moonan and Agh will have to beat Mihai, Machine and Slush. Also I find it wierd that you can get top 16 even though u went 1-3 in group.(Ret) Same as Idra getting top 12 for 2-2.

Ahhh HuK lost to KiWi?!?!? didn't see that game... too bad
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

Overall it's a great thing with seeds and the pool imo, but I agree with these guys the difference between seed vs open bracket is insane. (NASL is even worse though).

Select had some special TvP build he dismantled pretty much every protoss with that event. On some SotG Incontrol said that this build (obivously) isn't going to work forever and he'll start losing games with it or something... People blew that way out of proportion (SotG-thread ho!) and said incontrol was talking shit about select, saying that he's a horrible player, bla bla.
somehow word got to select and now he's pissed or something

i think that was the reason(?)

Well he earned his spot in pool play (well...someone quit and he got bumped up 1 place from 17th seed into 16th) and actually yeah funnily enough people do play a lot different in LAN settings than on the ladder, and Inc has always said he thrives at LAN settings.

The point is round robin pool play is a lot better than the old, simpler format for determining better players. You can argue that it's unfair on the players who have to make it through the open bracket first and I would agree, in fact even iNcontroL would agree (on SotG he commented that it's a ridiculous number of games to play and if you win the tournament you're going to spit on the cheque they hand you and just demand a glass of water). But Naniwa, who you used as an example, didn't exactly have to pound through an open bracket full of champions.

So I hope Select will answer that in-game! :D

He didn't have to pound through "champions" in the open bracket, but after he was done winning the open bracket (like 8 straight bo3's I think) he STILL had to win his group and go 4-0 in it, which isn't easy
