No idea why it stopped spewing it, all I know is, it never was spotted. It was spewing creep for a lot longer than after the spire was done. He just obviously at some timepoint made a silly mistake. That being said, it made no real difference to the game, more broodlords wouldn't really have prevented the loss, getting infestors or possibly ultras might've though.
