Well Ladies and Gentlemen, after a long weekend of amazing SC2 action, it's about time we added a few more players to the list of awesomeness as we it continues to grow. Our first Qualifier event saw a relatively unknown zerg player, WZP, prevail and earn his right to play in the main event, but here's some great players to duke it out with him, including of course, our RETURNING CHAMPION, who we are very excited will be returning to defend his title!

Yes indeed it is maverick, although once you win one you cannot participate in another since you already have a key to the main event. Sign up for as many as you like and let the games begin! We'll expand the brackets as need be to accommodate more players.

With so many matches going on we couldn't possibly cast every match. So we are trying to get some additional casters for this one.

Good news! I can now officially announce that this event will also be covered by none other than our favorite high energy eSports commentor Mr John "TotalBiscuit" Bain! Get pumped! Lots of great high quality StarCraft 2 coverage will soon be here! Go watch some of his excellent commentary on his youtube channel, or more importantly his Justin.tv channel, right here on Team Liquid.net!

We have just confirmed multi-lingual coverage for our event. The Chinese caster miDnight will be joining us to offer some alternative languages for our viewers to enjoy, and also some more matches for those to watch if the either of the English casters are not in your game of choice!

We look forward to having him and the diversity that this will bring to our event!

Trying our best to bring you the best we can! Had a few players with a new conflict that will keep them from participating... however... their replacements are definitely of the same caliber... So without further ado the following players are no longer participating...

EGInControl
LGPainUser
EmpireDieStar

But in their places we have...

MTWDimaga
atnDarkForce
ColFireZerg

While our original participants will be missed, these new additions should bring us some great plays all the same!

Well ladies and gentlemen, we have confirmed a few more excellent players for our roster. Going to be rolling out the rest of this list as quickly as possible so you all know what to expect. Hopefully have a few more surprises for you all if all goes according to plan by the time all's said and done

Khaldor has been confirmed for casting for our tournament and we are THRILLED to say the least to have him on board. If you are unfamiliar with his work he is the German caster that basically by many accounts saved Winter Assembly coverage wise from disaster.

Another day, and more players to add to our growing list. While with a level of disappointment have one more player that is being replaced in this list, we have even more new additions that are 100% locked in and ready to rock your world the weekend of March 18th-20th! Without further ado...

DignitasSelect

Will unfortunately not be joining us that weekend... But instead we now have joining us...

RoxkisBrat_ok
REQPhilibird
RazerInsolence
coLAntiMage
atnSocke
coLRyze

Not too shabby if I do say so myself! Hope you all are enjoying the list thus far! More names to come as the Invitational is only two short weekends away!

REQRocker
coLCruncher
vVvTime
mouzSyck

And of course the home team favorite

LiquidRet

The player list keeps growing as we close in on what will be an amazing weekend of StarCraft 2 action. I know that all of us at The Gosu Crew are looking forward to it, and we hope that you all are as well! More to come soon!

The FINAL qualifer and the last chance for ANYONE to get into the Justin.tv Invitational presented by The Gosu Crew starts in just a few minutes! And just to add to the hype... here's a few more players that have confirmed their invites! The list is ALMOST complete!

TTOne

Will unfortunately not be joining us, and should be the final player from the original list that has a conflict that will prevent them from participating in this event. But in his stead we have these 6 players to add to our list!

DreamLeGosu
MouzMana
FnaticFenix
vVvNgry
Avilo
ROOTSlush

Here's the Qualifier Link... Check in now or sign up! :-)

Well ladies and gentlemen, less then a week to go... four short day in fact until Justin.tv Invitational 2, presented by The Gosu Crew kicks off we're watching some of the best quality StarCraft 2 possible! Since we're oh so close here's some of the few players left on our list of confirmed invites to the main event!

VirusNaama unfortunately has decided to not participate in the main event and should be the final player on our list that is not participating.

But to ease the pain of such a great player's loss we have a pair of players straight from Mouz to add to our list and one more from the great Complexity Gaming!

MouzHasuObs
coLRSVP
MouzStrelok

We also are pleased to announce 3 of the 5 players players that earned their way into the invitational through our qualifier tournaments! These players who fought their way through some impressive fields in their own right deserve their shot at the title this coming weekend! They are

REVShadow
TerranUApart
WZP

More to come with the final confirmed list very soon!

Ladies and gentlemen we have confirmed our final 64 player lineup, after making one final alteration to our qualified player list... and do we have a special treat for you!

REVShadow

One of our qualifier winners has been replaced with another strong performer from the qualifer events.

But in his place we have a few more excellent players to add to the list.

TQDante
BALLERTRON
xiWarden
FXOmOoNan

But as one final treat to the viewers of this upcoming event, our final confirmed player, a major star of the StarCraft 2 world in his own right, is......

EGIdra

With the addition of such an accomplished veteran of the StarCraft community, we feel that this tournament just got a whole lot more interesting and we're extremely excited for everything to kick off this coming Friday at 7PM EDT! Stay tuned and let's get ready to rock!

Such a stacked tournament, but bad timing w/ GSL finals and TSL starting, so I think this is getting a little overshadowed.

Should be a great tournament anyway, and it'll fit nicely on my second monitor on Saturday and Sunday while TSL is on. Hopefully there will be VODs as well.

Funny thing about that is that when we originally came up with this date, neither of those events even had a schedule yet... But that's why we worked so hard to get such great players so that we can get a lot of players and ALSO why the event takes place over three days, the first of which has no conflicts whatsoever to get things rolling regardless.

And with our own casting team, TotalBiscuit, Khaldor, and miDnight it should be pretty entertaining and offer plenty of variety for all the viewers to enjoy while watching the matches of their choice! Get ready to rumble ladies and gentlemen because even with TSL there will still be plenty of awesome gameplay to enjoy!

So how come the player list in this thread and the list on this link http://www.z33k.com/starcraft2/tournaments/217-justin-tv-invitational-2/teams differ? (for example TLO is in the thread list, but not on the website)

justin.tv can afford to put more $s into prize money for all the sc2 traffic they get on their streaming service IMO

Last minute changes. Some players had anything from a family emergency to a health issue come up. TLO is one of those examples.

Dkim as for your statement that is your opinion but we are not part of Justin.tv outside of using them as a sponsor and streaming service so you'd have to talk to them about it. We are greatful to them for providing us with the prize pool they have along with the other sponsors that are listed.

GoOdy is on the list z33k.com/starcraft2/tournaments/217-justin-tv-invitational-2/teams as a backup.

We expect some players not to show up though, so he has a pretty good chance if getting in.

Goody is better than over half the players on that list, so I really hope he sneaks in.

The tourney looks really nice! I'm glad to see that Khaldor is casting it (whether in English or German).

Khaldor said that he met Idra and thinks he's a very nice and cool guy. But as he saw him the first time he asked: "Who is that wannabe gangster with the leather jacket?"

The game was long lost by then.

He was 10 drones behind, and 20 supply behind before that engagement.

He had no chance, hydras or not.

i think mass was too defensive when he sniped idras hatch - if he had just spam droned there he mightve won. its very hard though to call that without hindsight, but yea

It was 16 roach/9 hydra against 19 roach before the engagement. Didn't see the drone count, but he certainly had a chance there with that army.

Only 12 roaches were at the engagement, 4 back at home/on the way.

Idra had all 19 up front. Drone count was 40 - 30.

I didn't catch the beginning of Tyler vs iNka game 3, but what happened? Tyler was like 5 seconds late on his cyber core compared to iNka's, and the advantage just carried over throughout the whole game.

Wasn't that.

Tyler a-moved his smaller army into a bunch of zealots, Inka flanked from side with collosi and it was over from there.

That first attack by Brat was really weird and sketchy with the 3 hellions on the lowground + dropship w/ marines on the highground.

Omg, why is Mana not getting Voidrays? Why does he keep getting Immortals? He has a Stargate!

Voidrays rape Thor rushes soo bad ://

I'm guess Mana hasn't been up against many Thor rushes ><, this is so Brutal, all he had to do was make 3 Voidrays and he would have won

As opposed to Immortals? With that many Gateway units the marines fall too quickly to kill Voidrays, there just aren't enough and Voidrays take down Thors sooo fast it isn't funny

If he built Voidrays instead of Immortals that would have been over after his first push

you focus the voidrays and thats it.

immortals are much more useful in a gatemix vs marine thor scv. i cannot explain why, its just true.

didnt saw the midgame though i gotta admit :/

yes of course, maybe VR are better vs this combination, I haven't tested it yet. But I didn't make voidrays also because I did not know if its thor rush incoming or normal safe play, because I also saw 2 vikings already out, so it would be pretty bad to make voidrays vs vikings.

When Khaldor had a lower overlay up while showing his desk, the way it was all positioned made it look like "Justin.tv invitational own3d" (w/ owned on a 2nd line below).

Got a good chuckle out of that.

I really like Destiny's +1/+1 before Lair build for ZvT. I caught a few of his practice games against ROOTkitty and it seemed pretty strong.

did you intentionally sacrifice your first two phoenixes to kill off the raven?

great play by the way, espectially the first game. i was looking at that scv tank marine banshee push and thought 'oh shit this is going to be hard for mana to hold' and then you just killed him. lol.

yes of course, maybe VR are better vs this combination, I haven't tested it yet. But I didn't make voidrays also because I did not know if its thor rush incoming or normal safe play, because I also saw 2 vikings already out, so it would be pretty bad to make voidrays vs vikings.

did you intentionally sacrifice your first two phoenixes to kill off the raven?

great play by the way, espectially the first game. i was looking at that scv tank marine banshee push and thought 'oh shit this is going to be hard for mana to hold' and then you just killed him. lol.

acutally I did not want to lose those phoenixes, but I wanted to kill raven for sure. I think it was worth it cuz he could not do PPD

Not harping on you for that, I meant making Voids when he was just down to Strike Cannon-Thor/Marine. Doesn't even matter if he gets 1 Viking out by then, Voidrays do too much damage and he doesn't have enough marines to handle gateway/Voidray

Tyler losing to 3 roach rush from wzp, I guess he doesn't read TL strat forums enough or he would have expected that

3 roach 10 zergling rush works even at pro-level. Who says Zerg has no viable all-ins? And yea, wzp was the guy who made the rush famous even.

Destiny totally had bratok done in the 2nd game and then completely fell apart.

I don't think talking on the phone and answering the door while he's in a game helped, but still. He should've had bratok 2-0 . Super depressing to watch. As the game is slipping from his hands you can hear some girl beside him asking "why are there no letters on your keyboard, herp"

He was maxed on 5 bases against a 3 base terran and he didn't do anything. He had like, 12 ultralisks, a handful of muta, and a bunch of lings and he just ran them around. Brat dropped him and he fell apart.

Yeah he is answering to his girlfriend when he is playing, how many times does he gets the chance to play against brat_ok. If I would be playing him i would even kick the cat out of the window.

Edit: I don't have a cat but if I had I would

Well brat dropped him and killed his pool and he didn't realize until he had been trying to build lings for a long time unsuccessfully. That was a result of losing it before he had to answer the door and then coming back and forgetting it was dead.

I still think he could have won if he'd had more banes in his comp early on or if he'd denied that 4th base with his ultras. But its easy to say that when you are not the one playing bratok.

Are you trying to get banned? This blatant eu >na trolling is getting really annoying.

Nevermind that, everything you just posted is 100% false. He was not overaggressive, he didn't underdrone, he wasnt too allinish, and he had already beaten bratok in the first game.

Na? I don't even like destiny, but he had that game 100% in the bag and allowed 2 drops to completely turn the tide of the game. 2 drops killed like 3 queens, a spawning pool, 20 odd drones, and a hatchery while Destiny was maxed, which gave brat_ok all the time in the world to finally get his 4th up.

Also, for brat_ok already dropped a game to him. It's 1-1

No, he definitely asking to get banned. His previous post shows it.

Anyways, some good games so far. Things are stating to get interesting as the bracket moves along.

Yeah, pretty spot on summary. 3 pronged 5 marine drop in every mining base, and steven was on a downhill from there.

Chattin up his girlfriend during the tournament is just stupid. There is no other way to say it.
Especially when he had good chances to take this Bo3.

Isn't it his sister hes talking to, not his girlfriend? Why does it bother you? He almost 2-0'd Brat regardless. Maybe you should watch Khaldor instead if a streamer can't do whatever he wants on his own stream where hes playing :/

The mass zerglings early on did a lot of damage. If Tyler had more sentries he could've held the muta-ling play but he was gas starved I guess.

i must say tyler played very poorly:S moving out with small forces losing lots of sentries / sentry energy. I mean why even play a little bit risky vs a player that u know ure mechanically stronger then.

too allinish gamestyle, no solid thing tbh...
10 games between them and bratok wont drop a game. pretty unusual style.

Are you trying to get banned? This blatant eu >na trolling is getting really annoying.

Nevermind that, everything you just posted is 100% false. He was not overaggressive, he didn't underdrone, he wasnt too allinish, and he had already beaten bratok in the first game.

Did someone forget to tell me it's opposite day?

bascially all i said is true oO
his attack had to kill bratok or at least damage him a lot. he didnt, wasnt insta 200 again but stuck on ~168 i guess, which is necessary for Zergs.
who are you to tell me im wrong? oO

Not really, bratok has been very inconsistent recently and yes another top levelish EU player beating another in a BO3 isn't exactly a big deal

Yeah Idra lagging out sucks, but atleast it is occuring in the first minutes of the game and not once the game is already underway.

Uhoh, now they're talking about forfeiting Idra.

avilos try looked ALOT like this http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=172190

but thing is mass Banshee is only ag mass Collosus Socke didnt play that so auto lose basicly.

also showing the proxy banshee didnt help much and getting his Raven constantly killed.
I give up, I just don't know what to write here.

what did avilo say?

At the start Socke did a super fast expand (right after gateway) and Avilo did a Proxy Starport with Cloaked Banshees (tried to get an easy win I guess)

Then said something like "fast expand with an observer out already, must be a good life )"

At the end after Socke completely outplays him and crushes his lame mass Starport Banshee/Viking/SCV-allin build he said "So what do you think?" "Of this matchup"

Socke replied by saying "lets proxy banshees and pull more scv's mb" (something like that anyway)

Then Avilo just kept asking if Socke felt the match up was balanced, like over and over and over. Socke didn't answer him and Avilo leaves without a GG.

Just bring all the SCV's and get it over with. Idra's not someone where you can go halfway and then hope to climb back up after it fails. Go big or go home!

Idra 2-1 Drewbie

Drewbie did MakaRax on IdrAs 3rd, very good defence by IdrA.
IdrA pushed with 10 speedlings, drewbie didnt block his base and GG'd
I'm getting the derection.

Agreed, even just bringing half of them could have easily changed the outcome of that game. Although I'm glad he didn't. ^_^

These kinds of pushes are much harder to defend than to actually do. Sucks for Axslav since he out classes Avlio soo much and still loses to just 1a

I just want to comment on the great quality from Ascend's stream. The small overlay with the score is really sleek (the color of the player fading to the middle is a great touch) and the little pullouts that were used in the games to show the players' ladder rank and such were amazing touches. It reminded me of actual player profiles in basketball or something (sorry, I'm watching the Mavs and Spurs at the same time, haha).

Basically, I'm really happy with how quickly the quality of casting is improving. My hopes are high for the future.

And, JTV, you guys are doing an awesome job as the de-facto SC2 stream site. On top of that, this tournament is pretty damn awesome. Great job!

My only complaint is that you really have to make your iPhone app free again so that I can watch all my favorite players on my phone. D:

Edit: Also, I'll comment on what everyone else is, too: avilo? All-in? I totally wouldn't have guessed that! (/sarcasm) I eagerly await his next troll, Terran-is-totally-underpowered post.

I understand you can't really whine about cheese as it's part of the game right, and that discussion could go on forever, however I hope to god avilo does not get picked for NASL or any other tournaments, because in my opinion it's not enjoyable to watch someone play like that.
Surething he plays for the money etc etc, but comeon man the fans are a reason why these tournaments happen and without any facts I'm sure that many many fans do not enjoy this kind of gameplay, it's plain boring.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Prime dropped bitbybit.

And I gotta agree Ascendtv's overlays are pretty slick, I'm digging it. Also Thundertoss' commentary is golden as usual.

Not going to LR, but game 1 axslav vs avilo.

Axslav opens 3 gate expo, get some sentries then robo then 2 mor gates. Avilo, goes rax (reactor) --> factory (T)--> 2 port. Gets 1 raven, like 5-6 banshees, 2-3 tanks and around 15 marines i think. What looked as an all in becomes a BBBP with all his SCVs.

Axslav get good FFS, but PDD just makes banshees kill stalkers. Axslav pulling probes, immortals pops out and manages to kill all the ground force, but the 5 banshees remain which make Axslav gg after a helion comes killing the rest of his probes.

Supplies at the end were like 30 avilo and 6 axslav.

No, he was just let go from the team, I believe. It was all Prime's decision as far as I know (or at least from what the initial news post said).

The quality of their stream is amazing, and you're right, they've added some really nice, personal touches.

The only thing lacking for me is enthusiasm in their casting. I would rather listen to Artosis (an unfair example, I know) with no fancy overlays and in 240p.

I'm going to play the devil's advocate here and say that having some variety in terms of styles is interesting and so NASL can use a player like avilo. Cheering against a player brings in the viewers just as cheering for his opponent does.

Yes, when you don't attack Terran after killing whole his force without any loss on your side -_- Also having inferior (WAY INFERIOR, 1-2 vs 3-2) upgrades and only 2 Colossi then getting hit by 2 EPM certainly destroyes an Protoss army and makes it look imbalanced,

same story goes for 3-2 Protoss vs 2-1 Terran and Terran getting hit by storm... or a good amount of Colossi.

Won't talk anymore about balance here.

Khaldor doing an awesome job, keep it up!

No, let's not encourage that sort of idiocy. The goal of the NASL is to promote eSports, not to give people like combatex a platform to shit on.

It seems people were excited by that just because nukes & BCs vs. Carriers are rarely seen or used - like I said, variety of styles helps.

Yeah, Avilo played really well. That banshee + viking combo to snipe observers is really and so annoying for the toss. Axslav just responded correctly getting 3 stargates asap. Then he just expanded a lot, he was on 7 bases to avilo's 4

Very poorly executed. Teching to that much air just leaves you wide open for too long. He needed to do some early pressure or more eco damage with his first banshees.

I like mass T air, but that was just not the way to do it.

Probably needs to be more gradual, I think he was banking on the map control gained by the banshees to just tech super quickly, but that timing window (even without Blink Stalkers) is still pretty harsh

Great first game between strifecro and axslav.
But I think He should have boosted out 4-6 carriers instead of the void rays.
Together with the +3 air and the mothership he already had...

Takes about 10 apm to blink stalkers and walk a collosus up a cliff. I should have built zero tanks like the first game, but still learning/re-learning this sky strat. Well, not zero, but yeah, I made too many mistakes.

Thanks for watching the first night of the Justin.tv Invitational, presented by The Gosu Crew in coordination with our sponsors Zowie Gear, Justin.tv, QPadUSA, and SplitReason.com. We'll be starting up again tomorrow at 2PM EST, 19:00 CET, with continuing coverage from our diverse and amazing casting crews. And if he's feeling better TotalBiscuit will also be joining us as well to round out an already impressive list of casters.

Here's to hoping for another great day of matches as we march onward to determine our 2nd Champion!

There is no good usage of vortex.

vs Z roach/hydra its just vortex anywhere into his army, walk in, and win if you have more then 2 kolossi (im protoss).

Summary of the first day:

Hugest surprise to me was Attero and on 2nd place Minigun.

Attero managed to beat the almost unbeatable TvP player Kas (best TvP in europe with cloud). Even though Kas seems to play with huge lags from Ukraine, its still pretty tough to do so.

Minigun managed to beat Thisisjimmy - quite expected, but you still gotta do it. After that, he beat the quite good Ukraine Terran Strelok - well, of course also lots of lag included, but that doesnt mean hes a runover. Finally, beating MaNa in a PvP - MaNa losing 3-1 vs HasuObs and 2-1 vs White-Ra recently - but still Minigun did beat one of the best PvPs in Europe. The delay from Poland shouldnt be bad at all.

Destiny put up a rly great fight vs BratOK - he almost won it. Pretty unusual ZvT style ive never seen in Europe like that. ofc, BratOK is russian again and he might have lags, but i didnt expect Destiny to be that good.

And who is simonthegosu? unkown to me, but he does quite well in the lower bracket! So does Namhcir in the WB, even though he didnt take out a big name yet.

What do we have for tomorrow in the WB:

moonan vs attero.
i'd give a slight edge to moonan, even though attero showed some nice, but quite abusive play vs a weakened kas.

idra vs minigun.

ye, minigun did well. but its idra. the gracken. idra takes it.

BratOK vs Socke
this one is pretty 50/50. i dont know how the delay from russia is compared to ukraine, but it should be a great fight after all. hoping for socke to take it.

Namhcir vs Darkforce
Probably the weakest duel, since it was the weakest bracket by far. Didnt expect Namhcir to be here, didnt see much from him at all. Darkforce plays better and better in the last few days, being almost on morrow/dimaga/ret level [at least in ZvP]. Darkforce takes it.

in the loser bracket the favourites right now are:

drewbie, Mana, Kas, Strifecro and HasuObs - probably Insolence and Cruncher, if they take out Hasu/Kas due to PvP/lag.

Nice roundup. I don't agree with labeling MaNa's PvP as "one of the best in EU" though. He's actually pretty weak in the matchup, his PvP isn't outstanding in any way. Socke, WhiteRa, Naniwa yes. MaNa no no.

Most of the casters don't have an EU account and it was a North American event from the start any EU or RU player knew about latency issues upon signing up and chose to fight through that in order to put on a show. In retrospec it probably doesn't help that Japan and many other countries are rerouting traffic right now internet wise would could be causing a lot of delays. However, that is only conjecture.

In regards to destiny he was eliminated from the tournament by ColRsvp in a 2-0 last night.

defloss / forfeit?

No, destiny played all of his games.

You can see the replays as the players report them, click on the matches in the bracket:
z33k.com/z/jtb

However, rsvp didn't report with the replays, so once we have those replays I will add them to the bracket.

This is pretty unfair. Top players must show best games. And how you can show your best game, with uncomfortable delay. I think viewers want to see good games, not some kind of lol. PvT is matcup that build on micro, more then others. minimum Khaldor have eu account

No, destiny played all of his games.

You can see the replays as the players report them, click on the matches in the bracket:
z33k.com/z/jtb

However, rsvp didn't report with the replays, so once we have those replays I will add them to the bracket.

Since I personally casted those matches the replays were submitted last night ^.^

Yeah, they werent up when I looked some hours ago
Thx

From IdrA's twitter:

well in his defense what else is he going to do?
in a straight up macro game he'll lose ^^

I never see minigun winning games against good players without doing some kind of unexpected early aggression build like blink stalker... very anti-climatic.

i guess from the players point of view if you can abuse something to win against someone who you would usually lose to go ahead, but if this play continues in all ZvP then i dont see this game as an e-sport

So I idrA got all those upgrades, overlord speed, and that amount of banelings.
Is he really that allergic to a 200/200 drop upgrade that allows his banes to be unblockable by forcefields? Very disappointed in that regard.

That was a macro game, so i hope you watched it. Ling+Baneling dosent work against a Toss who gets Storm, you get annihilated

Dunno what games you were watching, but idra just kinda threw those away; there was really no reason not to get drop tech, especially after the first round of forcefields. Dunno if idra forgot or just didn't care.

Wow, forcefields really shit on ling baneling. Don't really know what Idra was doing there, but his engagement was really bad. Shouldn't have gone to that game anyway, the second game was painful to watch with the whole forcefield on the ramp 4gate thing going on. Seems like Idra's words about PvZ being unwinnable are showing their truth in the recent days.

What works most of the time, Roaches with Corruptors would have stood a chance, a far bigger chance than what he did.

Ling+Banes is not going to work against Storm, they all blew up in 0.9 seconds, barely anytime to react for Idra.

Yeah especially in the first big fight, Mini FF'd his units into a ball and Idra just ran his lings and banelings around in circles until they all died. At least retreat them at that point :/

I don't think you actually watch PvZ. Roach/corrupter gets wrecked constantly, and Idra tries it all the time as well. The outcome would have been no different.

Sad that Idra lost that 3rd game, but I'm pretty sure if he had just retreated those lings/blings until the FF fell during the first push by Minigun or researched drop he would of won it, or atleast had a much better chance.

Or if only Miniguns push came a minute later Idra would of had broods out. :-(

Mini totally faked Idra out. First win he cancels his expo and four gates. Second win he gets a couple of DTs. Idra gets detection but Mini goes for storm while scouting with fake phoenix the entire game.

Kind of funny because mini played idra on the ladder the other day and idra was rolling him. Methinks idra won't underestimate him should they meet again.

lings n banes dominated minigun on ladder when idra played him, so i guess he was just hoping that itd work again.

Idra's good but at this point he's around the same skill level as a lot of people. He himself has said he stopped practicing seriously till changes are made since "the game is a joke". So while his ceiling might be higher than a lot of these players, currently he's nowhere near that ceiling and beatable quite regularly.

yeah except ladder games are worthless compared to an actual tournament result, which is all that matters anyway. Idra might have beaten h im 100 times in ladder, but he lost when it counted most.

IdrA made a huge mistake in the third game early game, losing a ton of lings for free. He also lost a ton of units trying to fight the forcefield donut.
I think if he hadn't made those mistakes, he might have taken that game.

IdrA might end up playing Cruncher in the LB next round - TSL3 preview, anyone? another ZvP, that will be pretty tricky.

Perhaps so but laddergames is where you experiment and try different things. Tournaments is what matters the most, that is where you bring your best play and best strats.

Guess he was trying to wear out minigun's ff's, but ran out of larva first and ended up with the protoss ball in his base. Still really just lackluster performance by idra, there was no reason for him to lose that.

I try new shit on ladder, the times he rolled me with that strat, I was trying air options vs ling/bane, which didn't really work well.

Its what i am trying to tell them, you saw his Bane+Ling strat on ladder and your Storm wrecked him so fast it was over in miliseconds

Well done! =)

Yes, i realise. i was just trying to state that any given set of matches doesn't need to show who is the better player. I find it abit silly people are saying player x or y is clearly superior because he won a series.

edit: just to clarify, not trying to take anything away from minigun, i'm a fan:p

Perhaps so but laddergames is where you experiment and try different things. Tournaments is what matters the most, that is where you bring your best play and best strats.

Yes, i realise. i was just trying to state that any given set of matches doesn't need to show who is the better player. I find it abit silly people are saying player x or y is clearly superior because he won a series.

no one is really saying that, I know idra is better than me, obviously, but it doesn't mean he will "roll" me

Yeah what a fun game. Both players drop below 30 supply and they rebuild up to around the 150 mark or so. Getting drops and taking that 3rd expo really guaraneed the game to Strife as it allowed him to go on the offensive without having to worry.

Interesting how out of all the matches that aren't being casted, IdrA vs. Cruncher is one of them...

I don't think drewbie played well in that game. Everything got scouted and his hellions didn't do nearly as much damage as they could have.

I don't agree. They forced idra to use all of his larvas into zerglings, non stop. (I guess he killed a few drones when his banshee was repaired and came back but biscuit missed it, not sure).
That's why idra left the game, he knew how much behind he was.

They constantly killed zerglings. No larva, no zergling mass, no droning. Pretty much just stalled idra's game for an easy stim/tank push.

Hmm it normally takes a while like 3-4 days for khaldor to upload vods i think, but http://www.youtube.com/user/KhaldorTV is it i think

Khaldor has two channels, this is his German one and I think he will upload the VODs to this one. However, for his english content you have to look for:

What an awesome 2nd day of our event. Thanks everybody for coming out to watch even with the TSL event going on with our man Day9 casting. We at The Gosu Crew did our best to bring you top quality matches and streamers, my only disappointment for the day was that Idra/Cruncher just kind of escaped my casting crews because of Idra's desire for speedy play.

Regardless, we're set up for some amazing concluding matches for this event tomorrow afternoon/evening. We switch to a Bo5 format for our concluding rounds, so get ready to rock! It's going to be a wild ride!

2PM EST/19:00 CET we will finally decide our ultimate champion! Wish all my remaining players the best of luck!

From my viewer perspective you guys did an awesome job. One of the best tournaments I have seen for some time.
We need more tournaments that offer competition between NA and EU players.

4 gate in 1 game, and 3rd game idra went ling baneling and made FF kinda just didn't let his army touch him and he let alot of units die trying to get in.

3rd game: Archons and forcefields >>> ling/baneling strategy, especially on that map with narrow paths.

Oh yeah I forgot about the storms lol .

As a zerg player, watching the replays Minigun does definitely outplay Idra in both of his wins.

Mini's first win (MC build of fake exp with sentry heavy 4 gate) caught Idra fairly off guard (had considerably more drones than probes) but he still could have survived. Mini even wasted quite a few FF IMO but Idra didn't react that great. He saw Mini move out, he could have baited some wasteful FF along the way. When Mini chose his spot to engage, yes he was close to the ramp to FF but he wasn't that close to damage anything when he walled himself in. Idra could have pulled back with his lings and waited to engage as the FFs dissipated. He could have done more to try and go after the proxy to stretch out Mini's forces. The only "bad" luck that Idra had in this matchup is that he set 7-8 drones to build just before Mini moves out "7:50." Idra even had his baneling nest down before seeing the army and his +1 attack gets done in time. Idra misses the opportunity for two larva injects while setting up for the fight. He has 250 minerals before the engagement that could have started some spine crawlers (1 less drone made = 2 spines near the ramp.) At the point that Mini has shot his load of FFs, Idra still has 20 zerglings running around doing almost nothing against the FFs, all 3 queens still alive, and 400 minerals (that again, could have started some spines). Against 7 stalkers, 4 sentries (only 1 w/ energy) and a proxy only just finishing. 900 minerals when Mini starts to warp in zealots for reinforcement (think spines would have done well at that moment?)

Game 3 (Fighting Spirit): Since it's longer, I'll keep the specifics more vague. I liked Mini's decision to show the same opening but actually do the FE this time. Clever for a BO3. Again, against a FF heavy army Idra just tries to run his army in rather than pull back after baiting the FF and losing a few zerglings. The first main engangement, idra detonates 5 banelings to kill two Zealots that would have been surrounded anyways, then loses 7 banelings without them doing any damage at all because they pull back too late after the slings are dead. He's scouted the entire game from an observer that constantly sees his army, sees when his 3rd goes up at a good time. Idra doesn't see Mini's third until it's well established (although he could have assumed it was there since the army pushed away his Ovies to clear the area). 13 minutes in and Idra has never had a considerable harvester lead. Mini even pulls ahead in harvesters when his third is up before the biggest army engagement. So Mini has the better scouting all game, is always ahead in tech, supply, and IMO army composition. Add that with Idra not outperforming in any battles.... and how can anyone argue Mini doesn't deserve those wins?

FF yes, but the Archons weren't even necessary after Mini won the large army battle. Those templars could have died and made no difference. Mini made a good front wall, but could have saved another 10 supply or so in stalkers if he dropped two more on the left where the banelings got next to the army and then psi stormed.

If u are confused about the timezone, look at the upcoming events section in the right-nav. As of now it says "2h 14m" away. The final games will start at the same time as the TSL

Khaldor's stream is covering our event today as a FYI.

We also have Pikachu filling in for Midnight on the Chinese side of things and we also added a Russian caster due to Bratok's home audience for as long as he is in the event.

Same here! :D

But i watched a bit on my second screen. So Socke beat Attero 3-2 in the winner brackets final after being 0-2. Attero beats Brat_OK 3-1 (?) in the loser bracket final. So the overall final is Socke vs Attero again!

btw: who is Attero?

edit: And it's a normal bo5 without a advantage for Socke! Khaldor just said it. That's strange imo.

This is looking like Attero's breakout tournament. Really good results for him thus far. It's interesting to see that in his NASL application he mentioned he recently moved from random to only protoss and that he expects to do much better now that he only plays protoss. It appears that he is.

If it's a standard double elimination tourney, Socke should only have to win 1 BO5 in the grand finals, while Attero should have to win 2.

Wait what? That means if Socke loses this BO5, he will be eliminated after losing one series, which is impossible in a double elimination tournament.

Well done Socke!
It's sad that this awesome tournament is at the same time then the TSL! But we can all see the final at least! :D

And I am really wondering about the "only one bo5"! Socke should have had an advantage coming from the winner bracket.

In the heat of the moment btw I misspoke because I've been SOOO tired from this weekend. If socke had lost we would have had one mroe Bo5 match, but obviously that was not, in fact the case. Thanks for watchign everybody and we will most DEFINITELY have Vods of the event from all our casters posted when we have a chance!

Socke made it interesting with some excellent and unexpected counter-builds. Honestly those last 3 games were nothing on his winners bracket series against Attero which was unbelievably entertaining (at least after the first 2 games)

Sorry the thread was a bit confusing (and the brackets don't have scores),

was it 3-2 Socke v Attero and then 3-0 Socke v Attero (after he came back from BratOK)?

Congratulations to aTn.Socke, who said PvP is boring? An awesome sc2 weekend has come to an end.

GCPL is still ongoing, but yeah congratulations to aTn.Socke, I really enjoy watching his games, you never know what he's going to do.

Uh more SC2; sleep is overrated, right?

was it 3-2 Socke v Attero and then 3-0 Socke v Attero (after he came back from BratOK)?

Yes, you're right.

In the winners bracket Sockeh beat Attero 3-2
BratOK was beat 3-1 by Attero

Sockeh beats Attero 3-0

Thank you to everyone that watched us this weekend and to all the players, sponsors and people who helped with coverage and admining. Wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

I have VoDs of everything I cast, a series every day will go up. Replays seem to be free-for-all, so plenty of floating around and no doubt people will cast them.

Thanks for the tournament! GG Socke!

@TotalBiscuit

Wonderful moment when you didn't realize that your microphone was still muted.
Meanwhile I was watching TSL and reading teamliquid forums when your overlay was on and music was played. Suddenly the music stopped, i tabbed back and there was no totalbiscuit talking. that was a kind of strange ;-). Than Booooom... the waterfall falls again.

Keep being so great (well you get even more better and better) and relaxed!

Sorry if my english is not that good.
Please don't leave! The drones need you! They're looking up to you!

I am currently working on acquiring the missing replay from the Idra vs Cruncher matchup as this particular matchup has lots of interest for obvious reasons. I'll update everyone when that is done and thanks for making this past weekend for The Gosu Crew the best one yet!

Wow congrats to Socke! He's definitely an AMAZING player.

Most surprise of the tournament to me = Attero. Very good job Attero for getting 2nd ! Really proved yourself against many top tier players like Brat_OK and moonan!

Of course, huge congrats and thanks to J.TV invitational crew :D Awesome tournament to watch and very well organized (except for the 1st day.. :D)
