OK, this is going to be pretty complicated, so bear with me. After Matches A and B are played, the winners of those matches play the loser. After that happens, there are 3 possibilities that can happen.
Possibility A: The group now has players with these records: 2-0, 2-0, 0-2, 0-2. At this point, the players who are 2-0 play each other to determine seeding in the Ro16, and the players who are 0-2 play each other to determine placement in the up/down (Code S / Code A) matches.
Possibility B: The group now has players with these records: 2-0, 1-1, 1-1, 0-2. At this point, the player with 2-0 does not need to play any more matches. He is first in the group. Likewise, Mr. 0-2 is done. He is in 4th place in the group. The two players who are 1-1 play against each other again to determine who takes 2nd and who takes 3rd in the group.
Possibility C: The group now has players with these records: 1-1, 1-1, 1-1, 1-1. Whoever has not played each other play. The winner of that match advances and the loser is eliminated.
Group A 1. MC 2-0 ► Advances to Ro16 2. July 2-1 ► Advances to Ro16 3. MVP 1-2 ► falls to up/down matches 4. Hyperdub 0-2 ► falls to up/down matches
Group D 1. NaDa 3-0 ► Advances to Ro16 2. HongUn 2-1 ► Advances to Ro16 3. TOP 1-2 ► falls to up/down matches 4. TheBest 0-3 ► falls to up/down matches
Looking fucking good, at this rate in one more season we'll have only great players in Code S, while cheesers will battle it out in Code A. The amount of alliners is even lower this season than last, so we should see some nice games from phase 1. I love this!!
it might be worth noting that some of the Blizzard maps in the map pool have been modified by GOM
Modification on Blizzard maps for the league GomTV modified Metalopolis, Xel'Naga Caverns, Lost Temple for their league. Bloking the entrance with two bunkers is no longer possible.

He's been back in Germany for a while now, so he can't play in GSL.
Apparently korea did not fit him well and he also got an hand injury during then i believe. Its a real shame since he only needs to qualify for GSL3 to be code S. sigh...
Obviously rooting for TLiquid, Loner and Moonglade. Also rooting on Squirtle, Maka and FOXMoon.
Code S is so freaking stacked though, not sure if anyone from Code A is going to be good enough. San Zenith is probably the most obvious candidate to drop. I'd like to see it be a bit less Terran heavy as well, Polt, Lyn, and the two fOu's are prolly the "weak" links of that murderer's row in blue. Of the zergs, the Wind is a coach fulltime now and you figure his practice isn't going to be able to keep up over the long haul.
If Huk makes it through to Code S my SC2 life will be complete
Here's hoping HuK can make code S after this season, always a treat watching him play. On another note code A looks alot more interesting this season than last.
Both Code A and Code S look really good this time. I hope the foreigners do really well, especially Huk. And I'm hoping for yet another final appearance by MKP and him finally winning the title. Either that or one of the foreigners taking it.
8 participating team selection method (for GSTL): Award points to the players participating in GSL of each month and select top 8 teams with most points. Code S Player=1.6 points awarded / Code A Player=1 point awarded
Anyone know if the GSTL points reset after every GSL (lol the optimist) :D? I think in favor of seeing the strongest teams every GSTL, points reset are needed. Gathered points in previous GSL seasons are like.... well, history.
If someone could link me to or send me a version of the GSL coverage logo only, I would work on a new banner with MVP in it, or maybe something completly different, in case that's wanted.

LOL. Awesome. Man it sucks though... There are so many good players in Code A/ Code S now, it's kind of hard to root for just one, and it makes it even harder to see players I really like get matched up early on D: Hope all of the Code A games are as good as the ones in the Finals. Looking forward to see how well all the new Qualified/ Seeded Players will do ^^
Ok heres my prediction of how it will go for the foreigners.
Code A: HuK: I think he will be able to stay in code A even though it will be tough for him, he will maybe advance to the ro8 if he is lucky. Ret: This is quite hard to tell. I think he might have a chance to stay in Code A but its 50/50 chance for him to drop out of Code A aswell. Haypro: I think it will go the best for Haypro out of the Liquid guys. He will definitely be able to stay in the Code A but I dont think he has what it takes to get to Code S. MoonGlade: I believe this guy will be the best one of the foreigners in Code A. Has a nice chance of getting into Code S aswell. Loner: He will stay in Code A with no problem at all and might have a chance to get to Code S. Think he will get to the ro8/ro4.
Code S: IdrA: He will have about the same record as he had the last GSL. A solid performance and be reach the ro8. Jinro: Jinro will also be able to stay in code S but this time I think he will reach ro16/ro8 at max.

Did you just make that up?
Because I'm fairly certain Zenith, NEX and ZeNex are only counted as one team (ZeNex) and NsP has nothing to do with NEX at all.
€: Also, Slayers has 3 ppl in code A (NewDawn is SlayerS_YuGiOh), which breaks them even with Liquid.
So there's not really much of a change in the team orders, Liquid would just share 8th place, and since none of the A's acually 'worked' for their spot it is only fair to favor SlayerS.
I think out of all the foreigners in Code A to get Code S I think Ret has the best chance. Would be awesome if ret was able to get into Code S with both Jinro/Idra staying code S ^^. Would be more awesome if all Code A foreingers got code S but thats not likely
I don't get to see NEXLiveForever play in Code S? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....
At least I got to see the fun and excitement of his up and down matches, lol.
So why is it that PoltPrime gets to have his spot? Did it have to be another terran? I would have rather seen another race in there... or at least another more exciting player to watch than Polt, like Leenock or Loner. Could be that Polt has the most tourney wins under his belt... he seems pretty inconsistent, he's usually 2nd-rate but then one day he wakes up and can take out Boxer and other top players.

They did a small 8 player tournament where they decided who gets the spot. PoltPrime won it.

You don't go make shit up and guess right 98% of it :D.
- Anyway, about Zenith+NEX+ZeNeX I'm not sure about that. - NewDawn had no tag and I didn't know he was "YuGiOh" (why do they keep changing their nicks?).
Zenex is participating in the upcoming GSTL as one team so I think its safe to assume that they will still be counted as one team in upcoming events.
And Genius stated in an interview after one of his games in I think season 2(might have been season 3) that he left the NEX team, so NSP and NEX is not the same.

did first seeds get to pick their opponents last season ? or no. i did not think they were allowed to. but i think picking is fairer. i wonder how idra picks.

Amusing statements from people who don't know things
Zenex is one team, Zenith and NEX merged in like GSL1
Genius is NOT in ZeNex. he is only in a clan now, not a team

It will be interesting to see who the 8 seeds will pick. I'd guess that sanZenith will be the most desired first opponent. Other protosses like HongUn and Anypro will probably be picked rather fast, too. Form there on it will boil down to the personal preferences of the seeds as most other players are pretty even. On a side note, I'd love to see Jinro pick Check just to get his revenge for last season's loss
Idra will pick Check, 100% sure about this one. Wonder who will be playing vs Jinro and MK. Feel pity for the fool that will face MvP (unless MvP trolls everyone and request MC).

Can someone explain (or provide link) to the format of GSL & GSTL throughout the year? Are they just going to alternate every month? Or is there a set schedule?

The team rankings were created at the start of the GSL, based on how many players were in code A and code S, not their rankings towards the end of the season

i think he's playing better than he ever has. but still, code S/A is more competitive now than ever-- and so much depends on the bracket placement... (i REALLY think there should be a loser's bracket in these tourneys if people want to actually claim being 2nd/3rd/4th place with a straight face)
so unless he gets horribly unlucky with brackets, he should make it
Code A looks really exciting. Want to see what Huk and losira are capable of in this next gsl. Code S in all likeliness is going to have the same players in the r08 and onwards.

Don't think anyone in their right mind would want to pick MC in the first round. Feel bad for whoever Mvp chooses lol.

When do they do all this group choosing? I assume the highest seeds get to choose first, but I wonder how they decide when 2 equal seeded players choose the same opponent. (e.g. 2 semifinalists both want the same player in their group).
GOM sure loves their strange and complicated formats.

I'd guess that MVP's going to go with a gutsy pick and take someone good, like Fruitdealer or Boxer.
I'd say Jinro goes for the weakest toss available, or PoltPrime, who he thumped 2-0 in GSL3.
My guess is Idra takes Zenio. He's said his best matchup is ZvZ, and after losing to him in the GSL2, he'll want his revenge. If he's not available, he'll either go for the weakest zerg available, or Clide, who's talked shit about him.

Ok I think I figured it out. If I try to fastforward or rewind, it won't go back to normal unless I close Gom player and launch it again. But if I don't mess with the speed, it does ok. Thanks
Huk can definetly stay code A, but the only 1 with a sligth chance of making code S would be Sen, but i don't think he will either, due to playing zerg(maybe in 1-2 seasons he ill tho)
and im not talking about imbalance there, just the fact that zerg easily dies to all-inns (especially with new maps(even tho they propebly help zerg with these maps) But in 1-2 months i predict zerg ill do better with/or without balance change, due to more refinement

I think the dates on english gomtv.net are outdated so this is from the korean schedule:
Feb 7th - 10th : GSTL 1 Feb 21st - March 19th: GSL 2011#2 ("GSL 5")
March 21st - 24th: GSTL 2 March 28th - 1st week of April: World Championship ("World Team League", 8 South-Koreans vs. Rest of the world)
April: GSL 2011#3 ("GSL 6")
May: GSTL 3 May: Super Tournament (Code A+S combined)
June: GSL 2011#4 ("GSL 7")
July: GSTL 4
August: GSL 2011#5 ("GSL 8")
September: GSTL 5 (the site says "GSL 5" but this is obv. a typo) September: GSL 2011#6 ("GSL 9")
October: GSTL 6
November: GSL 2011#7 ("GSL 10")
December: Blizzard Cup (Tournament for players with the most GSL points, based on their 2011 GSL tournament results)
maybe this is a really stupid question, but this whole matching system seems really confusing. So anyways, can a code a player take the tournament or are they just duking it out to see who can be code s next season?
Edit: Oh dear... I need to learn to read the last pages of these things more often.
Go HuK and Jinro!
I could see either of them taking their respective division, although MC and SanZenith and July could be troublesome for Jinro, but I think he can beat pretty much anyone else on there, even NaDa.
Also, just saw Slayers_Alicia and watched him play like a god... This isn't normal that Artosis loves him so much (Not like how they exaggerate it w/ Clide) but Alicia. God he's god.
