Game will be held on NA server, please check times and dates per your country, example below:

Los Angeles (U.S.A. - California) Thursday, 3 February 2011 at 11:00:00 pm

Tournament is a 1v1 handicap knockout
all leagues welcome
handicap only applies to plat, diamond, master
1 league lower 90%
2 league lower 80%
3 league lower 70% cap

Prize is $1 usd to be paid via paypal to your selected account.

*All decisions regarding tournament prizes, round placements and all related issues are at the sole discretion of the Tournament moderators, (LBO and CheekyDuck). Any discrepancies with round results must be backed up with replays from both contestants and will be handled by the moderators. The monetary prize will be delivered via PayPal and only if the PayPal account is active before the time of the Tournament, if prize delivery cannot be completed in 24 hours due to the winner's inability to accept it, the prize can be forfeit at the discretion of the moderators.

You guys would be honestly surprised how much of a difference 10% is... My brother is a silver level player I'm upper level diamond, and he'll beat me pretty much every time with a 20% difference... I'm not sure how fair this would be, a diamond vs a plat, with 10% difference, I would say is in favor of the plat...
Should of read the whole thing first... I thought it was 1$ entry with a different prize pool, who can say anything against that? 
I still think plat players have the best chance here

I am pretty sure the masters league guy would win with 50% handicap. I am a low masters league player and won 3-0 with 70% handicap vs my oldest brother who is a high ranked platinum player (short of being promoted to diamond I think).

There would have to be a no rush rule in place though, because it's impossible to old some rushes (especially worker rush) with lower hp. one a-move into your mineral line with their workers and it's over no matter how much the defender micros.

let's wait and see. I really dig the handicap as it makes it possible for lower-ranked people to compete as well! At the same time, it requires people to think about the lower-ranked handicap a little more, so it's not just i blindly play my known builds.

Those times are very very conflicting, the 4th in Sydney isnt even the same day as in america, so im confused as to if i can make it. also is it 7am or pm. seems very early in the morning for a tourny?

We have done a few tests with different players.
master vs silver @ 60% master won, but it was very close. too close almost imba in silvers favor. so im giving 70% a try.

I feel like it's a good idea not to go below 70%. I played in a handicap tourney before, and being at 60% allows banshees and blue flame hellions to one-shot drones/probes. It's pretty nasty.

I have a hard time seing myself beating a gold zerg 6pooling me with 70% handicap :p zvz that is. Im not sure how it works though, is it 70% of units hp only? How about buildings? Does it at all effect damage?

70% effects your hp for everything, does not effect damage, your units and buildings will have 30% less life if you are a master vs gold.

This sound like fun, i dont really think the handicap it to much of a problem its only a 1$ if it shows that all the bronze players are worker rushing. Then obviously for the next tournament they will adjust handicaps.

congratulation on the first successful tournument....i think everyting went well and the winner fairly deserved the dollar, beating other masters/diamond and winning even when he was handicapped to 70%. Keep up the good work and it was very enjoyable. Hope to be seeing another one soon
