Personally, i feel that Nada should have taken him out, because there were far more deserving players for the finals, whom wouldve shown a much more exciting match imo.
Funky yes. Lame no. Nada made horrible decisions in his games vs mkp, absolutely showing he didn't deserve to win. I don't think mkp is weak, rather mvp is just too strong. This guy lost 1 game this season. It's not like mkp is the only player he stomped. If you recall, he rolled through Tester and NesTea also. Both players were deserving to be in the finals.

I completely agree with this. after MVP got roflstomped by choya a couple seasons ago, he's been a scary force.

I do think MKP didn't play as well as he could have, and I think people are basing their impressions of him too much on this season alone. The guy's micro is still second-to-none in my book. If he would've acted like the King of Marines instead of the King of Tech Builds, he might've at least won that first match and maybe the Xel'Naga match as well.
But with that said, the reason MKP didn't play so well is probably because MVP was crawling inside his brain. In the Metalopolis match, MVP's scouting and drop-defenses were almost like he was using extra-sensory-perception to guess his opponent's moves before his opponent even decided to make them.

I just watched the finals...
I tell you, MVP is just too good. He played flawlessly, and made MKP look like a fool. Sc2 players definitely need to step their game up if they want to compete at MVP's level in the next GSL seasons.
All in all I can say that I'm quite shocked, but not surprised to see how far ahead ex-BW progamers are. Their game senses and decision making seem unmatchable. Sc2's easier mechanics only make their strategies even stronger.

Agreed, I mean this finals pegged the player with the highest win rate % (MVP with 81.82%....) against MarineKing (who before the finals had a strong WR similar to Nestea around high 60s).

well completely dissapoint finals.. stayed up until 8:00 am to see mkp steamrolled.. (this games were good but nobody likes a finals like this). MKP didnt play his style and made lots of small mistakes... Jinro was a better opponent for MVP than mkp, a thing that i didnt predict, but well , im a nub so its normal to be wrong..
|
Considering that MKP won games against both Jinro and Nada by doing last minute back door all-ins, MVP wasn't going to have any of that. It seemed like that was really what MKP style has developed into, and after tonight, I don't think it's going to work anymore in TvT.
|
I'm talking about multitask. MVP is obviously better than QXC overall.
Jinro has done some good multitasking too. I would love to see how he would do vs MVP in a late game macro game. Sadly I think MVP is too strong early game to see many of those games
I just can't find a flaw in MVP's play at all... he is just too good. He even varies strats a lot, and executes them flawlessly. Impossible to read pregame, as this series proved. MKP had some mixing up, but had no chance. Especially the preparation for base trade (that defeated Nada) was impressive. Totally outclassing the rest...

those that are saying idra is overrated are just blind haters. you can attack his personality... you can attack his ignorant fan boys... there is material there to use, but to say that hes an overrated sc2 player is ignorant as well.
the guy has NO practice partners outside of maybe 1 or 2. Most of those pro gamers have mangers, coaches, teammates. Its really not that hard to imagine what that can do to your gaming career. Take jinro for example, in addition to his amazing work ethic, he has some of the best players in the world to talk strategy, PRACTICE different strategies, receive advice from different perspectives.
Now being on a team doesnt have all the advantages in the world, team kills are tough and hiding BO against your own teammate could be tough too, but the bottom line is that every single pro gamer will prefer to be on an awesome team than solo-ing it out alone on the ladder.
now part of the reason why idra doesnt have any practice partners could be his behavior on bnet, but that doesnt change the fact that he got into top 8 without the practice that the rest of the top 8 players get. With that, I think hes an absolute beast already and easily top 3 Zergs in the world (with Nestea, and arguably FD - at least in terms of accomplishments)

Anyone happen to know the song that starts when mvp won the last match and kept going till the winner interview?
|
This season has been a big downer for me... This was the first time I've purchased a season pass and probably will be the last.
I just can't get into all the short one sided games.

at 1.15 and 3.00 it fits the start of it in the GSL.

MKP is such a strange, scrappy player. He tries to force things to go his way, but at this final he really tried to go for economic & atypical builds before and ended up never being able to settling into his bread & butter MMM style.

When I saw there were only 4 vods posted I knew MVP won It was interesting to see MKP step out of his comfort zone with some unorthodox openings though.

ok maybe im being to negative, but atm marineking seems like a player who is very good at performing a certain trick, but sooner or later that trick gets old. so i suppose he should expand his play a bit, if he wants to stay competitive.

That's a shame. Next season will probably be much better if you like longer games. They are adding new and bigger maps, and taking out most of the bad ones. You should reconsider
Also we've had some really amazing games this season, Jinro vs Ensnare was really good, and there are a couple of other amazing games.

Disappointing finals, even season 3 was better, and looked less one sided (though I think MKP is a much better player then Rain.) I even like TvT.
But MVP definitely deserved to win, he's scary good. Who (if anyone) will beat him next season? His TvZ is dominant, he has some of the best marine splits in the business, and he beat NesTea, one of the best (if not THE best) Zerg player right now. And TvT? He just beat MarineKing, you in turn beat a bunch of other very good Terrans. I don't think there's any doubt that he owns this MU.
(I'm trying to remember if he beat anyone big in TvP...)
