Well, it's kind of the point of the system to let the best two advance. If Boxer and Hongun are "harder" than TheWind (by your admission and the results of the tournament), then Hyperdub should show that he can be better than at least one of the two. He gets the one against he already showed he could win, so ... seems to work as intended ... I am a bit split on whether this is really best for the audience though.

Since theWind is 0-2 he can basically lose on purpose to HyperDub to go 2-1 and then Boxer and HongUn has to duke it out with Boxer 2-0. If Boxer lost in this format he'd be 2-1 and then there'd be a 3 way tie with tie breakers thus more games and longer day which GOM doesn't want/can't do. The system is decided on results mixed with seeds. It's always Round 1 Seed 1 vs 3 Seed 2 vs 4 Round 2 Winner vs Loser of each match. Round 3 has 2 different formats (1 is a decider match for 2nd place between 2 people or a full round robin which u complete the round 3 by playing the player you haven't faced yet when everyone in your group is either 1-1 or 2 players 2-0 and 2 players 0-2). Basically the end standings are going to be today: 1. Boxer 2-0 2. HongUn/HyperDub 2-1 3. HongUn/HyperDub 1-2 4. theWind 0-2 That's it. It seems to me that GOM set up this system specifically to avoid using the MSL or OSL formats for group stage. It's essentially the OSL group format with a small tweak to avoid a 3 way tie. The MSL format is far superior and gives no inherent advantage to any of the players, since it's 1v3, 2v4, winners, losers, then final match. This guarantees that the strongest players advance with a built in double elimination system and automatically determines ranking of each group as well. With regard to this, the GSL system actually does not guarantee that the best two advance. If there are 3 strong players and 1 weak player in a group, the players who face the weak player are at an inherent advantage over the player who faces the strong players, even if all 3 are equally good. To take it to extremes, let's say that there are players A,B,C and D such that A=B=C>D in terms of skill. Let's say A,B and C will win 100% of the time against D, while they each have a 50% chance of beating each other. Initially the players are A vs C, B vs D. Given this scenario, let's assume A and B win. Now A faces D, and B faces C. Since A has a 100% winrate against D, he automatically advances 2-0. Now B and C play. Either B wins and advances 2-0, while C had bad luck, or C has to win 2 games in a row against B to advance. As you can see, players A and B only have to win against 1 player (C), since D is a guaranteed win. On the other hand, C has to win games against both A and B, since he will not get matched up with D. If C won the first game, then A would be in C's position. Thus, no matter how you set it up, one player will be eliminated by bad luck. In the MSL system, the players to advance would have to beat two equally strong players in order to advance, which guarantees that the strongest players advance. Now obviously in real life, nothing is set in stone like this and upsets can happen + Show Spoiler + (such as Flash getting eliminated by Ssak and Classic)
