So very many kind words and compliments! Thanks so much guys The TL community in general has been really good to us over at starcraft.reddit.com (and screddit.com).
We had a number of goals to start with but a big one was to bring everyone an event that we as active eSport's community members have wanted to watch. So rather then just streaming SC2 screen after SC2 screen we tried to transition frequently and rotate information and content as precisely as possible while keeping things entertaining. It would seem that we managed to do just that ... I suppose running 18 SCRO tourneys, vast amounts of KOTH events for everyladder, has paid off. Even though those events were often times only seen by a stream of less then a dozen of us. Either way, we took our combined experience from those events, our reddit community, and set out to make the best online tournament we could.
You can't begin to imagine our surprise when the stream started off Saturday with 700 people idling for the preshow. Then we went live and our whole staff (more then a dozen of us) were so focused on our different roles that we didn't even notice that we climbed to 4k. Suddenly, Diggity and incontrol mentioned the stream numbers on the cast and our IRC exploded! Everyone went nutts and I think my camera work slipped on the stream for like 10 seconds as I looked over to the stream and IRC. And running on 2 hours of anxiety filled sleep and variety of over-the-counter stimulants (5 hour and red bull), I was quick to be the ass and shout at everyone to focus on their roles and get back to work (all business, that's me!) And without complaint things quieted down and everyone fell into rhythm perfectly. Sure, we had technical problems, attitude problems (Morrow and his need for constant food and bathroom breaks! <3 ), and the stream chat made us pay for it (I felt the sting of every negative comment). But in the end our team pulled it together, the casters rocked your socks off, and the players put fourth some of the very best SC2 ever played (if not the best!). By the end of that first day we bumped right up against 10k viewers.... And today, wow, 16k+ viewers. Like Whitera, I do not have the words to explain how I felt, how we all felt.
Big thanks to all of our sponsors! To our staff, the casters, and the players!
And before anymore of you join our IRC and PM me this question the answer is yes, there will most definitely be an SCRI 2 Our sponsors are thrilled to say the least and we started getting all kinds of different additional offers just a few hours into day 1.
A post with the details to the WhiteRa vs Morrow final should follow shortly!

Oh, and thanks for those compliments about my emergency casting when TB crashed in SC2. I was sooooooo nervous. But the game was so good that I just started putting words together and, well... it got us through a rough patch. Big thanks to FearGorm, our Chief Admin, who heard me struggle and came in to help out (he casts/organizes a lot of our SCRO and KOTH events).

You all did an extremely good job.

Recap's up, this thread will be updated when we have info on the rescheduling!
|
This was easily one of the best run SC2 tournaments I've ever seen outside of Korea. You guys did a fantastic job. And, the games were spectacularly entertaining. I can't wait for the finals! :D

Oh right that was you who took over, good job Cazter.
|
amazing tournament, and great games. nice work.
|
This tournament just 'breathed' quality. From the casters, the intro movies, the players, the transitions to the up dated info + brackets all the time.
Thanks, I had a blast!

TB's disconnect added to the drama of the match, perfect timing .

The whole as a tournament was simply put: GREAT!
Something tha gave me chills were the intro movies. Both about the casters and players. Just amazingly well done. Not just seeing some caster enter a game and start casting like in any other usual online tournament. All I can say is well done you deserve it.
Now I cant wait for the White-Ra vs MorroW match!

Impressions from the last couple of days:
FearGorm and cazter both did amazing work in a pinch. Technical difficulties aside, the tournament was well organized and very well handled.
Total Biscuit would be an amazing drinking buddy and/or partner for mocking bad movies, MS3K style. I'd give him a shiny American quarter to upload an off-the-cuff commentary on Spawn. Oh, and he's an endlessly entertaining caster.
Morrow has massively improved his zerg play. His creep spread and heavy macro play are beautiful, and he remains one of my favorite players to pick apart in terms of technical skill.
White Ra and KiwiKaki are endlessly entertaining. Must haves for all future tourneys of note.
The Redditeers put on a really good show. I'm ashamed that I can't recall their names at this late hour, but the Terran who battled White Ra on Delta Quadrant was particularly cool.
I've praised Sean and Wheat a thousand times already, so I'll just reiterate that they contribute all sorts of legitimacy and professionalism to the e-sports and SC2 scenes. I don't know if either of them trained in radio or tv at any point, but their give & take and ability to fill time without stepping on one another is really impressive.
And whoever was responsible for the music selection deserves a big fat gold star.

Was unable to see most of the tourney, only saw the epic EPIC morrow vs kiwikaki match.... cant wait for the vods.
Nice job guys big thumbs up.
|
Extremely professional tournament i must say. Well done! I'm looking forward to the second edition.

TSL3 has some work to do The guys at Reddit and Co. really outdid themselves. Unfortunate finale to the night, but totally out of your hand.
Can't wait till Ra unleashes the power of the sun god on that puny Swede! (jk, but hopefully it will be as entertaining as Morrow vs kiwi ALL I ASK! ONE TIME!)
GL to all!

Just watched Game Two of Catz and White Ra. Just wow.
This tournament has had so many wonderful and entertaining games already, even with the finals yet to be played.

Absolutely great tournament. Epic games, especially Kiwi vs. Machine and Kiwi vs. Morrow!!! production top notch (music during breaks <3), the best commentators you can get apart from tastosis (WRU?!) and so on. Huge respect to all the people involved in it! Waiting for the final games.

haha i think the sub casters did a tremendous job.
that said i took a while to realise TB dropped and i thought the silence added to the epicness of the whole thing. It would have been fine to see the whole last battle played silent actually. Kinda like slow-motion battles in movies.
As if saying, no more words are necesarry. Let just watch history unfolds.
Cheesy i know =D but thats what i thought at that time.
