Some of the games FD won was also all-in. and hongun prime did not all in today. DT is a valid strat, 1 base play is a valid strat. I think zerg need to start the game w 2 base, so they will stop qqing

Lol Im a Terran player but Rain is totally bad he won by just doing all in. He would move his marines around to his 3rd while leaving his base completely naked to mutas, its like hurr durrr. Marine King is twice the player Rain is. Fruitdealer just played bad, 1 based 3 out of the 5 games

They might both go for THA ECON-CHZ but NesTea's win in GSL2 was defined more by his opponent's mistakes than his own successes, in my opinion.
Nestea was superior through the entire GSL 2 except for the finals, that last game in the finals could have been the other way around as well.
If Nestea pulled some drones today and killed the scv (8hp) or the bunker it would have been a very different game.

I agree, huge blunder not to bring his drones, or even his lings early to stop that bunker from going up. cost him that 5th game

Whenever the game proceeded normally, Rain got way, way behind--not for anything in particular he was doing wrong. The only way he was going to win that series was through all-ins. Maybe in part it's due to NesTea being a greedy, greedy Zerg.

Disappointing quality of games to be honest. GomTv needs to fix the map situation asap.

It would be amazing if we got a PvP finals.
I laughed reading that second line. It would be pretty amazing, and I guess possible at this stage. Although the thought of it seems so absurd at this point in time.
SEA Ladder used to be dominated by Protoss... I stopped playing after Patch 1.1 til recently, and I dunno where all the Ps went.. I think they got eaten by the Zergs =\

Rain vs. Hongun might actually be close. Rain has decent TvP, but I definitely think Hongun has the advantage.
IMO, a PvP finals is pretty likely at this stage.

I thought a bit about this, especially on steppes, which really seems like the only glaring mistake he made. But I think his logic was he was going to lose this map anyway, and if he pulled the early hatch off -- great. If not, oh well on to the next map. Which I almost cant blame him for that mentality.
*edit* on second though, he also had terrrrrrrible overlord management, maybe nerves? But he sure threw a lot of them away at more than one point, in more than one game.
Overall though Its basically taking all I have to hold back my feelings about this season of GSL. Mostly because I don't want to be banned. But I find it ironic that Ive seen such great, amazingly solid play from foreigners this season...... and the opposite of that from the majority of Korean players.

For the last time, EffOrt deliberately all-inned once in that series, and all-inned in the final game when he had a huge lead, and wanted to put the game away.
Also, 2/2 liquidbet, Rain and HongUn are smart. What makes Rain different from BitByBit, by the way, is that he has plenty of other strategies, much better control, and all-ins or cheeses when the time is appropriate, not every game.
And how fitting were the teams in the final eight? TSL, oGs, Liquid, IM, Prime, and fOu.

I can't believe that both champions got knocked out!? Crazy .

Wow. Pretty amazed at the amount of trolls calling 'OP! NERF THIS, NERF THAT' and 'F****** CHEESE'. How is rushing to DTs cheese? How is preventing a zerg opponent from expanding cheese? If you go 4 gate in a PvP mirror, then throw a bunch of pylons in your opponent's base and begin warping in zealots, now that's what I call cheese, because there is just no way to hold of 4 gate with constant reinforcements, especially if it is in your base at your mineral line. FD could have gone to lair tech, expanded a bunch and got hydralisks and might have won in G4. Instead he decided to cancel lair tech, and try to end the game at that point in time, resulting in his loss due to HongUn's sick simcity play. DT rushing is NOT cheese. That damn Dark Shrine takes as long as a Nexus to complete. If you have more than a minute to scout that damn structure, and the counters are numerous, how is that a cheese?
|
Honestly, whoever blames on 'cheese fest' I don't think they understand current SC2 mechanics. Assuming almost equivalent skills, there is no way for Terran to win 15min+ macro game against Zerg... :/ Spectators might want to watch the game they want but for pros that's a lot of money they are fighting for.
|
If the DT did nothing, Fruit was on 2 base vs HongUn on one base with almost no gateway units. Seem pretty all-in to me, and considering DT fit under the "if scouted, doesn't work" definition, DT rush is a perfect example of a cheese.
|
It's a cheese. Because it fails completely if scouted. Just like a 4 gate in a PvP mirror where you don't scout that inbase pylon.
|
haha, there go the two great zergs. i should be outraged right now, calling imbalance and blaming the patch that isn't out yet, but my dream for this GSL is a 4-0 JINROLL
|
Loved HongUn's simcity defense. He deserved to win just for that alone.
Hope MC stomps Marineking and Jinro beats Choya, and next round Hongun beats rain, assuring us either a PvP finals, or a PvJinro finals, either of which would be awesome
