With constant phoenix harrass, you have to go hydra to just have a chance to stay in the game. Zerg need to do a damn good job with there hydra and taking bases before they can crank out enough air units to counter this build

But on this map, this looked really really strong.
Its not like he didn't do the exact same thing on LT with closer positions and just changed the cannon count?

I hope GuineaPig's games keep a 100% recommended, they were so incredible to watch. Perhaps a Protoss shift to using air units more frequently?

I like this animal. :-)
Great games, glad Ret won.

Like I said, I've already seen it plenty of times. Its really not that hard to beat, if you go mass muta it forces them into tons of pheonix which aren't that scary. If you expand enough and put a few spores at each base you can reach your 30 muta army somewhat quickly and take it too them hardcore style.
Seems like Artosis doesn't get to see a lot of creative builds playing in Korea. On the NA server protoss has been messing with build like that for months. Props to guinea pig for throwing it out against someone who was clueless against it.
Kinda reminds me of the first time I played a guy in the upper diamond echelon who went straight to carrier against me. I figured, "oh, take 3 bases and make tons of hydra, it will own him." Boy was I wrong, Mutas are the answer to protoss air.

I just think the Zerg player hasn't seen it before and didn't know how to counter it.

That was so sick. I'm going to practice my ass off with this.

As much as I regret not getting to watch the Lord of the 'Rines work his magic, the last set totally made up for it. Fantastic and unorthodox Protoss play.

First time I see this in a pro game. I discovered that Phoenixes demolish Hydras in small numbers some time ago while playing some P game, but 1) I thought it was because I play at gold level so there was poor management 2) I play Z so I never practiced this kind of things.
I really think Phoenix are nightmares for Z players ; it just seems P did'nt figure builds to use them or that they were not efficient enough at higher levels. This build by GuineaPig seems pretty good : prevent Mutalisks, so no map control for Zerg, no harass so the P can have his 2nd and maybe his 3rd easily ; if you go hydras, Phoenixes can control the numbers early, and Hydras will never be able to chase them properly, and later P have a good economy and we saw what happened... if you go corruptors, well, enjoy your base being raped by zealots ^^.
I hope we see some early aggression against this type of build, not Nydus based. I wonder how you can scout this correctly, and how an early zergling rush can disorganize this build...

ROFL I think Artosis just found his favorite player.

i dont understand a single word, but he seems to be a cool guy, lol :D

Maybe this guy is finally the hero Protoss needs. His play was really impressive.

Really fun set of games today. Went 5/5 on my liquidbet aswell.
Chances are big we get equally awesome games in the second part of todays games. Some really interesting matchups there. Be right back in three hours!
Oh and this GuineaPig-guy is awesome.

he should have answered: "I just like the way they taste"

Wow. This is the smoothest interview ever. This guy is very composed when speaking in front of others. He's got some style, and is eloquent... And he says "thank you" in English...
WHAT A BALLER.
