The preliminary rounds of Season 3 were held for two days on Nov. 15th and 16th. A lot of people gave their best to try to qualify and after many competitive matches the final 64 players for GSL Season 3 have been determined. This Season we have 5 foreign players in Ro64 and there are 24 Terran, 12 Protoss, 27 Zerg and 1 Random player for this Season.

We noticed that a lot of people are requesting to see the games of the Preliminary Rounds to see how the players qualified or disqualified. So we will provide the game VODs of the GSL Season 3 Preliminary Rounds.

Gisado will select about 50 games from the Preliminaries and broadcast these games throughout a 3 day period. We will upload the VODs of these broadcasts on our Season 3 website, which will be opened later today.

Please understand that the broadcast is in Korean and since we broadcast the replays of each games the quality maybe a bit lower than our usual VODs.

To watch these VODs does not require any Season tickets and will be available for free just by signing into our website. The VODs will be available until the start of GSL Season 3, so the VODs will be deleted on Nov 22nd along with the comments under each VOD.

We hope a lot of you can enjoy the great games from the GSL Season 3 Preliminary Rounds.

For full list of Season 3 Ro64 Qualifiers : http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens2/news/274

The main rounds of the GSL Open Season 3 will begin Nov. 22nd and the Finals are scheduled on Dec. 18th. It will surely be another highly competitive tournament.

STARCRAFT Ⅱ Open Season 3 Schedule
Ro64 : Nov. 22nd ~ Nov. 25th
Ro32 : Nov. 26th ~ Dec. 1st
Ro16 : Dec. 2nd & 3rd
Ro8 : Dec. 6th & 7th
Semi-Finals : Dec. 9th & 10th
Finals : Dec. 18th

Before the actual start of the tournament, we will open the Season 3 webpage later today. Also the Season tickets for Season 3 will be available at the Premium Zone of the Season 3 webpage.

For further information please follow these links.

The list on our website of the Ro64 qualifiers are in order of qualification and is not the Ro64 brackets. We are sorry for the confusion. The brackets are currently being made and will be posted as soon as it is done.

Thanks for posting the schedule GOMTV.

Last season I purchased a season ticket but was unable to watch any GOM service due to constant buffering and dropping out.

I have 2Mbps connection in Australia, and have no problem watching other streams at higher bitrates.

To put it simply, last time I purchased the season ticket, I was unable to use it.

The HQ stream only worked for about a few seconds, the SQ stream would work, but buffer constantly, then stop playing after about 2 minutes.

I hope you can improve your service to Australia as I do wish to buy the Season ticket and contribute to GOM, but by principle cannot pay for a service which I know I will not be given.

Do you have any comment about the issue with stream lagging, which might encourage me to buy a season ticket now.
thenk, yeah?

Dear GOMTV,

Thank you for broadcasting the GSL3 prelim VODs.

But...

Could you please release a replay pack of the 50 games?

This would allow our plethora English commentators to cast and analyze the games.

Would love to see day9 stick his teeth into some of them.

I know Koreans are hesitant about handling and releasing replays, but it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for doing this GOMTV.
And yeah, there will not be any replays. This is professional play, the last things players want is their play being investigated by their opponents. Have been like this since the BW days

I have found the stream mostly unwatchable from Australia, though I can watch the LQ stream without jumping if I am lucky. I mostly pay to get the VODs though because I'm rarely able to just sit around watching it live anyway, I watch them when I get a chance randomly.

Also 720P is awesome :D

Would be really nice if there was some way to fix routing to Australia though, I've watched the finals for both GSL's live and put up with the stuttering, would be nice to watch this third one without the frustration.

I have a 6 Mbps connection and live in Australia.

After following some of Season 1 with a friend and purchasing a one day pass for the final I decided to purchase a ticket for Season 2. I am all for putting money into e-sports but honestly, your stream is the most terrible stream I have come across on the internet for a long time (especially since I paid for it...)

I could not stream the HQ ever and half the time the SQ stream lagged / buffered to the point where it was unwatchable. Also the quality of the "High Quality" stream was not even that high.

Can you please provide some comment on improving the experience for people like me and others in the thread that paid for your service in the past (and want to continue paying) but have been disappointed with the stream so far.

Thanks you.

I'm from NZ and the stream is brilliant. Pay more money and get a better internet provider, because it's not their fault.

I'm from AU and also have the same problem on a 12mbit connection as does my friend in Tokyo who has a 100mbit connection, so it is their problem.

Newsflash: there is a difference on stream availability dependent on your location.

For example, during the last finals, the European streams (both HQ and SQ) did not work at all. You can bet this wasn't the case everywhere. I'm afraid they're cutting down resources where they please so they can keep up the quality for Korea / US / ... wherever they have more customers to please.

This has nothing to do with your provider as long as you meet the requirements, obviously, to stream 1Mbps for VOD's and 512kbps for the livestream.

I also experienced serious issues with the stream (especially the HQ) while I can watch the VODs in HQ without any problem (I have a 12Mbps line). There is a significant difference between the loading of some VODs in comparison to others, which makes me believe they also set up different resource availability dependent on the amount of requests for each.

I find it odd that they plan to delete it right before the tourney starts. I don't see how there'll be enough time to watch them all before the 22nd.

but how do i watch them?

ive been tyring to find them, but i'm starting to think they haven't uploaded them yet, but the post/news on GOMTV kinda implies they are already up, but they are no where to be found T_T

http://ch.gomtv.com/427/28196/394326

looks like a few replays are up
but when i click play something pops up and i cant read korean
so i have no idea wat i hav to do

yeah, same...chrome doesnt translate the message either

It says you can only watch this video from within Korea. Also, the message on the front page of the gomtv site says the vods will be up "later today"

Yay! Gotta love the quick turnover. I'll be getting another premium pass. Here's hoping to stream upgrades every season (hopefully by season 7 there's full 1080p streaming at 2mbps and free popcorn!)

[edit]
Holy balls the season 3 marine is weird looking. Nevermind stream updating this season, please make that thing not haunt my dreams T.T

oh man, definitely gonna buy a season 3 ticket. too many liquid players in the tournament to not want to miss any games. hopefully people will chill with all the spoilers. hate reading spoilers before being able to watch the vod.

and i wonder, who else is gonna buy the season ticket?

I doubt Gisado knows the foreigners. So unless he wants to sit through all 64 final bo3 games to sort out the good ones, he probably will just pick the famous players.

I would love to see them post LiquidHuk final match so we can see how close he was to making it.

Also Incontrol last match to see how close he was.

Both were 2-1 so they would be good to watch.

He does seem to be sorting out the 3 game ones as they should be closer (who cares about casting an easy 2-0 really) he may get to a foreigner that way lol.

Good point. But that means we won't see Ret's games. LOL. I believe he 2-0's everyone. I think Idra did too.

I'm also hoping Gisado will show some popular players who didn't make it to the RO64 (Tester, Inca).

Thanks for letting us know here at TL.net. It's much appreciated (and this is coming from a premium ticket holder for seasons 1 & 2).

Kim Hyeon Tae I assume is the same as Kim Hyun Tae, aka GuineaPig. Don't know who Zerg is.

I assume you watched their qualifier games?
