SSF4 is more popular. Tekken is played instead because MLG could not get the rights to broadcast SSF4 and use it in a tournament setting, for whatever reason. It's like why they're allowed to play Super smash bros. but can't stream it.

I love Huk and Kiwikaki, but Protoss doesn't have any answer to Roaches. Go Select.

Select's hoodie clearly says "LOL" :D.

Excited to see how the game evolves! -Cross Why do you sign your name at the ending?
Crap if I know. Habit?
As for the rest of the comments...we've pretty much seen equal-food protoss armies get crushed by everything they meet from Zerg and Terran when they consist of only core units. We've seen them do very well when augmented with non-core units (Helloooo, Colossi and Immortals).
I wasn't really specifically referring to Select v. Nony - didn't think Nony played that well, considering his high skill level. And Select is freaking awesome. Just a general thing, from watching all the games today, and a lot of replays from yesterday.
Protoss is obviously a fine race - it's well-represented, and when the people playing it play better than their opponents, they win.
I just disagree with the statement that they should focus on core units. Zerg and Terran? Sure, particularly with New And Improved Roach (tm!). Protoss, not sure it's such a good idea.

There was a dispute between Capcom and MLG. I remember Slasher explaining it one time on LO3 on Wheat's channel. Don't remember all the details, I'm sure you could find them somewhere though.

DJWheat has so much more casting experience, and there isn't much difference in their game knowledge.

Do you see very bad lag?
As in ingame lag?

I fail to see how me having a supposedly "Greater understanding" of the game would change my opinion of the games i saw, i think its an elitist argument on a base level and on a greater level its not really a counter at all to what im saying, its sitting in the camp of "well you just wouldnt understand, its a bit over your head". I have said again and again that just because i thought the game was boring doesnt mean intrinsically it was to anyone else, but im allowed to have my opinion regardless. I appreciate his micro and i think he deserved the victory, but so far as being a spectator is concerned if the whole tournament was like that then id be sorely dissapointed. i don't understand how you can completely seperate yourself into two entities like that. the 'spectator' who is easily bored by seeing the same units over and over, and the 'player' who appreciates the tremendous display of skill that was select vs nony. i don't understand how ANY competitive player can be bored of a sc2 match simply because he's seen marauders before. I think his argument is that the games aren't particularly varied and that the unit mixes from Terran have been very similar in every TvP mu today, yet that doesn't prevent good players from appreciating good play. Seems like a reasonable observation right now from a spectator standpoint, the other mu's have been a lot more enjoyable to watch from a casual spectator standpoint.
then we return to my original 'fuck the casual spectator this is teamliquid.net' standpoint!

I've seen some bad commentators so far... JP and DJ aren't in that category. LEAVE JP/DJ ALONE!

what's the downside of the early immortal? I think nobody does it on pro-level beside kiwi, but it completely owns vs marauders in low numbers

Because there are a million different choices Select had to make to win those games. If you actually pay attention, you would see his opening was quite different in several of his games. You would see the star-sense scouting Select did for a vast majority of the series. You would see the many times Select cut SCVs to macro out enough troops, built the right amount of raxes, kept up almost perfect unit compositions and consistently tailored his army perfectly to the unit comp he scouted from Nony. You would also see that Select almost never panicked when he was behind. The game he went 3 rax no expo and tried to push on the metalopolis cross position game, failed pretty badly, and then had a beautiful transition into expo w/ 2 bunkers and almost took the game in the end shows just how fantastic his decision making is.
You basically don't know jack shit about what makes a good player good, and all you seem to do is focus on what units he built, which is such a tiny part of the game, that most people who know how to play just get disgusted by your posts. Seriously, you need to stop talking and study the game. Right now, you really don't know shit about the subject of SC2 yet you want to keep sharing your opinion.
I'm talking about his micro because that's what's most visual in the game for people to appreciate, but if I sat down and went over every single step where Select could have made an understandable yet wrong decision, I'd probably have a 600 page book written just on that series of games vs Nony. Yes, SC2 is that complicated of a game, and yes, Select is that good of a player. Respect and stop whining.

That might be the dumbest statement I've ever read. What on earth are you basing that on?
