Final note
Just to reiterate - I am not organizing this tournament, nor am I a Blizzard employee. A few of us SEA casters have been asked to cast the tournament so I have asked to put this thread up as it would be great for e-sports in our region if people tuned in I know it's late notice!
-Sephyre
Banners are by Fury who I asked to do it in 5 minutes - kind of like this tournament!

holy jesus, i actually think 6 of the players on the bottom half of that bracket are better than everyone in the top half... rough random draw there =[.
Gl to everyone involved!

Yea I cant refute that it has been a shamble from the very beginning. All the casters + admins they have asked to help are doing our best to get some kind of structure/hype going >.< but it is their tournament and prize $$ so all we can do is suggest (over and over) the best way to do it

How many SEA esports events are they running?
I think you get my point :p
They've reached out by the looks for community help(just a bit late).

Going to broadcast tomorrow (Saturday).
We'll be doing the first couple of rounds on Sat and then all the bracket finals and onwards on Sunday.
omg can someone put up a cheap stream for today's games? Will be really cheap if games don't go up now as I sacrifice sleep and instead are put up when I have to be working... >.<
Shinta, They are not permitting us to stream live (because they are noobs). And as a result, we would not have any games to cast untill 11pm or so AEST (horrible time to START a cast).
The decision was made to cast the Friday games on Saturday ^_^ sorry dude.

By not allowing casting it means there will be less chance of lag issues, which is arguably in the best interests of the players and the integrity of the competition. How do you allow for cheating with a live stream? What if some clown decides to message critical information to the players while the game is playing?

T minus 1 hour 10 minutes

Is there an updated bracket anywhere? Or results at all?

Nah. Its great, even if the players were not that good its about the merchandise. The level of the first game wasnt indeed very high but still very watchable. Altho i think the streamers are a bit weird suggesting to get Broodlords vs Terran who could instantly build Vikings is just stupid. Broodlords are pretty much never good vs solid T players.
Glade switching to terran is O.o
Awesome day
Thanks for everyone who tuned in! Finals tomorrow!
Really nice casting guys! Saw some good feedback about the casting - less about the play though
Brackets are up, should be up to where we are
I only saw one game I have been looking forward to this tourney and watching the local players to see how they match up to international talent but am pretty much out all weekend so that will have to be the only game I see. I'm glad that big prize tournaments are happening in/around Aus/region!

Its ok we will be making VOD's
so is the the winner of both games today considered #1 and #2 in the tourney (and hence invited to blizzcon)?
Not quite, the loser of the upper bracket (Oxygen vs Ice) will play the winner of the lower bracket game (Redarchon vs Glade). and then the winner of that match will go on to play the winner bracket finalist for first place, who I think will have to lose two best of 3's to be knocked out.
ZvZ Final would be hilarious.
+ Show Spoiler +My heart broke when deth (I think it was him casting on the Tenz stream) said "and GLaDe gg's... GLaDe gg's... ... ... I think I need a moment here" I really wanted GLaDe to make it to BlizzCon since he is my favorite SEA player but props to RedArchon, his pushes in that last game were just so scary.
i think he went all in because he couldn't stand the attrition from red archon anymore.
plus, he has no more minerals while red archon sitting on the high yields.
Good casting guys on Unstable87's stream, nice to see some aussies who know what they're talking about. The occasional lag is understandable with how awful our net is -_-

rofl @ blizz's attempt to race balance by only inviting 3 terrans to the top 16 and failing as 2 made the top 3 and the one that didn't only lost a tvt
It wasn't an attempt at race balance, it was simply inviting the best performing players. Anyone could see that.
there's currently 8 in the top 16 in pts, it'd be pretty strange to only have 3 in the "best performing" 16

Yeah you couldn't be more wrong, nice whine though.
Luoson vs. TenderSteak was started as a 2v2 on Lost Temple. This restricts the starting positions to top+left vs. bottom+right. None of the players seem to notice this as both scouted the only position the opponent couldn't spawn first.
Because points are also decided by who has time to play more games? Everyone knows there's a hidden rating and is the basis behind the Top 200. Being a Zerg player I'm not a fan of how strong the Terran army is either but you're just being uneducated with your statements. Take your whines elsewhere and present it in a more constructive manner please, we don't need more people like you.

Grand Final Result

Congratulation to RedArchon. Go go Thailand!!!

I don't have time to watch all the vods so I'd be really grateful if someone could recommend some of the most entertaining/quality games.
Thanks!

What's taking Blizzard so long in releasing the replays =[

Considering that this is an official tournament with a big prize pool, it seems rather poorly run and not very hyped at all.

It was a very big tournament but it was put together in a very short period of time and was done so with a very limited amount of staff. Even though I also complained a lot, you shouldn't have expected it to be any different. We can just be happy Blizzard hosted this for us.
