True, it's a little disappointing that there were only two sets played today, but I wouldn't skimp on an opening ceremony for this kind of stuff. If GSL does take off, launch day is a pretty damn big deal.

lol @ balance talk when artosis and tasteless said on stream that korea currently think pvt is frotoss favoured

I like how they said Protoss is better than Terran in Korea when the rankings show that it is clearly not. It's all Terran--everywhere.

Edit: At least most terrans actually admit there is an imbalance, but some clearly don't. obviously maka was the better player, but focus isn't some random scrub, he's also very good if he qualified for the GSL. It's just sad to see that maka could win with massing 1 t1 unit, and even a t3 unit (collosus) couldn't do much vs terran's versatility. It's pretty easy for them to swap to just about any tech, ie swap starport to the reactor, you are instantly producing 2x vikings, etc.
It's sad that people expect to win games just because they have higher tech units, when they're being shit micro'd after the other race gets some high tech direct counter units.

so any gonna have free vods up ? Thx for the restreams btw

They did a good job. Tasteless was a little rusty but that is to be expected since it has been a while.
Tasteless and Artosis they have really good chemistry. They will just have to iron out the details in the first few casts. But they are S class commentators though.

Oh, I do have a modest request, though. Can we cut the damn balance talk in the fucking stream thread please?

We had only 2 games since it was opening day, other days will have 5 games on them.

Toss probably rallied the sentry to the zealot, which is why it was way out of position. Mistake. Also, I think making a sentry second is probably suboptimal; zealot, stalker, sentry is the way to go, you get the stalker when you're getting warpgate (or robo in this kind of fast colossus build) because you're strapped for gas then, and you get the sentry after that because your second assim is operating now and you're short on minerals due to adding on gates. Sure, getting the sentry out one production cycle earlier gives you more energy for repeated forcefields, but then you lose to reaper and other harass.

Seeing IdrA beat terrans that easily always gives me hope for my future as a zerg player

Thank god finally someone has the balls to request people stop talking about balance. Finally it will all end thanks to this fine man.

I'm excited to see how all of this develops. I will probably buy the HQ stream for the next tournament if Gom deals with all of the issues. Not great games, lots of problems, but overall fun to watch.

agree. after some starting problems and the 2 bigger crashes it went perfectly fine. quality was nice for free, commentary great etc. imho a pretty good start.

Anyone that thinks balance played a factor in those games didn't watch them. Idra and Makka were just leaps and bounds better then their opponents.
|
The games weren't great but not terrible, casting was great but the stream of course needs sorting out a bit. As i said before it wasn't that laggy but i was forced to watch the restreams, because the Gom player, crashed like 10 times. Ill carry on watching tho and ill maybe buy the HQ stream if they sort the crashes out.

One-sided games but fantastic to see IdrA on form. Loved the nuke rush, shame it wasn't really cost effective.
|
I woke up at 5am for those games? Ugh, at least idra destroyed someone.
|
Both games were sooo one-sided. However this is what we want in the early rounds. Clearly we would not like to see Idra vs Maka, and Focus vs Idra's opponent because then it would be the ro32 matches that would be bad. The early rounds should weed out the inferior players and preferably not eliminate any of the top 32 players. It is however sad that it seems that qualifiers were random and not based on some seeding system. While the lineup is good it's not really the top 64 (Jinro could definitely have done a much better job than Idra's opponent, and so do I suspect Nazgul could).
