This sounds awesome :D

I just have one question, im not too sure how these things work but will the event in NYC be open to spectators? I live literally 30-45 minutes outside nyc and would love to get the chance to see this.

You'll be able to spectate without a problem! We also reward people who travel the longest distance in order to spectate our events - show up, show us your ticket proving the distance traveled and if you're in the top 3, you get a prize. You're not that far off, but who knows...? ;-)

Honestly, until ESL pays Idra, I think people shout boycott ESL tournaments. If theres 1 thing I cannot stand its the fact that organizations don't pay out the prize money to the players. You might not personally have anything to do with this but ESL should not have any tournaments if they are having financial issues and cannot pay out prize money to the players.

These players live on this money, if you cheat them they have nowhere to go and I think ESL knows that best.

Maybe people don't boycott this because it's just not true?

According to IdrA, he has not been paid for past ESL victories.

Carmac, as representative of the IEM and ESL, should probably look into this in order to maintain the reputation of the establishment he represents.

Whether to ban IdrA or not is another topic altogether. Tournament organizers obviously have the right to exclude anyone they please.

and you base your assumption on the statement of ONE player?
Wouldn't it be kinda illogical by Idra to participate in the Event in Cologne if the ESL never paid his prize money?
It may take some time for the ESL to pay (up to one year afaik) but they do at least pay, otherwise no one would participate in their tournaments, especially not on such a global scale with all the traveling expenses involved.

I said that it's an issue Carmac should look into, which does not imply that they are in the wrong. I say this because it is an accusation IdrA has made against the ESL establishment and has already gathered strong "crowd momentum" within the TL community as a strike against ESL's reputation. Consequently, it needs to be addressed if the ESL is to preserve its credibility with many people here, which I'm sure they desire since TL is, after all, the biggest community for professional SC/SC 2.

Also, it's not like unpaid winnings are that rare in eSports. Last I checked, the ESWC has still yet to pay Ted for performances over a year ago.

Considering he's a member of CJ Entus I'll base my assumption on IdrA's word and the reason he's going is because he's a member of CJ Entus. He gets paid based of the fact he plays for the team. The money is a bonus.

And you do believe that CJ Entus would pay his travel to Germany if ESL doesn't pay his prize money?

Only ESL's people in charge can clear this up, but you can't make these random accusations.

Are you guys IdrA's attorneys? Great job filling this thread with nonsense.

I do not know of any outstanding prize money for IdrA, but I am not in the posision to know those details either (he has not won any money in the Intel Extreme Masters so far).

Having said that, if he comes over to me in Cologne and mentions any outstanding prize money with the ESL, then I will gladly help him out to the best of my ability.

I LOVE YOU CARMAC, on a side note is the SC tourney going to be overlapping with the QL tourney? because if so that sucks but I guess cannot be avoided. However if the semis/finals for each tourney overlap I for one will be severely dissapointed.

Too bad they don't have CS1.6 there this time. Would love to see another awkward Get_Right interview.

Still, I can't fucking wait. 5 days of SC2 and QL. Aaaahh...
