In what is essentially the first major Korean tournament since the SC II release, PlayXP (one of the major, if not the biggest SC II site in the competitive Korean community) and Garimto (legendary ex-SC1 pro, and now SC2 pro) have teamed up to hold a tournament: WTA Takedown!
After an online preliminary, the surviving 16 players will compete in a tournament for a first place prize of 300,000 won (a modest sum, but think of the prestige!) beginning on August 2nd. The games will be broadcast on Garimto's GOMTV channel, making it accessible to all.
Update! The preliminaries have concluded, and we have our sixteen finalists and brackets! Any additional info on the competitors would be welcome! All ladder ranks pulled from http://www.playxp.com/sc2/ladder/1v1/kr.php at the time of writing. These are OVERALL ladder ranks, compiled from the entire Korean ladder.
허준과침Zenith(Roughly, Hu Jun and Accupuncture Needles, Terran, 63rd) vs oGsGon(T, 8th)
Hmm, I followed the link and tried to check out one of the videos, but unfortunately, something popped up, and not reading Korean, I have no idea what I was asked and declined to select either option.
Am I right in thinking that GOM matches are usually available afterward in VODs? I know the BW events were, and I seem to recall watching some SC2 VODs from GOM.
Anyway, can't stay up so late anymore with work, so I'll have to catch this later.
seriously those tiny, 5s footway base-to-base blizzard maps are utterly shit. creating a shitload of imbalance and destroying spectatorwise amazing plays (what was that for a shit game on blistering? please come on)

painuser was kind of casting it this morning on Tump's stream :O
is there an archived way to watch these for those who can't use GomTV? Youtube, Youku, blip.tv archive, actual replays themselves, someone streaming then recording them, etc?
Quality is bad, vod emself were bad. And if i translated correctly - zERO said that such quality is some sort of mistake, and next games VOD's will be pretty much same quality as stream. And the original GomTV stream is reeaaaaly good (1280-720 HD and stuff).
yeah, thanks zergporn! im looking for these replays since i thinking about making a youtube channel and these series has lots of interesting stuff i wana talk about :D...

Some guy came into the channel trying to convince people SC2 sucked. When his arguments were shot down he spent the next 20 mins raging and spamming the channel. Quite funny, actually More entertaining than the games, anyway, which were fucking awful.
I don't get how they selected players for this tournament. Some of them are amongst the best in Korea (Ensnare, ThesTc, Anypro) and some of them just seem completely fucking useless.

Like, in what way? Was it all just one-base aggression?
If it was anything like day 1 of the Ro16, then yes. But in pretty much every case the aggressor or defender made HUGE mental missteps that should not have been made by any player, and cost them the game.
:WTA Takedown! has been made with results and whatnot. We also managed to get an explanation (Thanks to MrHoon) for what the hell happened with the 2-2 result.
This tournament is so confusing it's hard to watch.
To anyone who saw that, could they explain to me why STC abandoned the gold expo?
He seemed to want to take the bottom-left main, but Ensnare read him and put Marauders there, so he in effect took himself down a base for no gain other than not having an OC landed in need of defense.

So annoyed TT
This all started when I reset my router one day...I bet I'll fix it sometime :[
Haha good luck with that. I too used to be able to watch GOM perfectly months back until one day it just became unwatchable and has been ever since.
I was so happy when you were streaming it because that was the only way I could see it live. Now I've got to settle for watching the VODs later. ;(

Anyone knows what this is?
Clearly a zerg player is hacking and sent a Viking into your mineral line via a Nydus worm.
Seriously though, I'll look it up. Second.
Edit:
Are you using BitDefender? If so this could be a false positive.

I just clicked the live link on page 8 and some popup came up, I pressed the left option (which I guess was "Yes I want to download this" and the d/l started.

This is what I did. Now I am listening to Garimto sighing!

You may be missing some codecs, I think there's 2 that are specific to Gom player. Try reinstalling? It's kind of silly, they give you an option to install the codecs when they are necessary...
