Series is over. All Cups done

Yes indeed! The German ESL Pro Series is about to start and we will see epic epic matches! Although it is an national Cup, there are some foreigners heading to the EPS Germany. (You are allowed to participate, if your place of residence (in law) is in germany.) Already qualified are:

Socke (P), Hasuobs (P), TLO (T/Z), Demuslim (T), Insolence (P), DarK.FoRcE (Z), Inuh (T), Andead (T), GoOdy (T), Xlord (P), Rine (P), Cloud (T), OgerTob (P), RoC (T), Eloids (T), Naniwa (P) (in that order of qualification)

The first three qualified in an invite tournament (would be Cup #0), there were seven Qualification Tournaments open to anybody who wanted to take the chance!

All Qualification Cups were covered by ESL-Radio!

I added a poll to my page! Click on the pagelink and scroll to the footer!

First three (Socke, HasuObs & TLO) qualified from an invitational cup. Grid can be found here: http://www.esl.eu/de/sc2/1on1/eps17_invite_qualifier/rankings/

The last two (DeMusliM & iNSoLeNCE) qualified from the first open cup. Grid can be found here: http://www.esl.eu/de/sc2/1on1/eps_quali_cup_1/rankings/

There are another six public qualification cups to come. The second one being held tonight with shoutcast from Forsti.

If you think it's too hard there are solutions other than asking for a nerf, getting better is the first that comes to mind.

well terran got behind in midgame but stayed alive playing defensive.
zerg could not kill him having a huge lead, so terran comes back, but terran, finally attacking, losing all ground units, now ultralist with mass healing slowly entering the last base...

Zerg can easily win.
1. Attack with muta and if it takes damage go back and transfuse.
2. Go back to 1
3. Win

yeah but he wont be able to attack with the muta because of:

1. viking range > muta range
2. seek missiles

i dont know why they are discussing about zerg win... it's clearly a draw

with that many queens with transfusions, there's no way the T can beat this, and now without the muta zerg can't do anything either, really don't see why they just won't call a draw :o

A player who can't destroy those buildings doesn't deserve the win. Its the same like having a pylon on an island when there is no transportation capability and air units anymore.

Though I play zerg, I do think lifting buildings is a perfectly valid thing to do. It's a game mechanic, and can be seen as a tiny perk that terrans just have.

I'd only see it as BM if it's a ladder game with the T having no units at all, and forcing the other player to chase his buildings down only to prolong the game or something.

Its a game mechanic that was designed for rearranging bases, not for abusing stupid map design.

It drags the game ridiculously long and tournament rules or better map design should discourage this boring behavior.

It doesn't drag on the games if the players are smart enough to actually recognize what's possible and what isn't

so I'm supposed to keep an air army against every terran player, no matter what he plays just in case he decides to be a dick and flies away with his base?

you really can't justify this tactic, you just can't. The game wasn't meant to played on draws. It's huge design flaw that is ignored because they just trust the players not to be huge morons that would do this shit.

There should be a simple fix, just set a timer on terran's buildings flying mode. Even if it takes 5 minutes for them to run out of fuel, it would still be enough.

mardow should have just pushed him way earlier in game1. it was totally mardow's fault for not doing that, who can blame inuh for trying everything he can to stay in the game when the eps qualification is at stake. congrats to inuh for qualifying!

You do know though, that this was already possible in broodwar right?

I dont see any difference to other things that can happen, such as:

Zerg only has spine crawlers left, but i only have marines - is it imba that i cant kill him?

Protoss has only cannons left, but I only have a few zerglings - is it imba that i cant kill him?

Mardow didnt manage to kill inuh with half the minerals on the map - and then inuh even looked rly much like the winner.

Then he was mannered enough to push out and try to end it, instead of keeping his 100% draw (mardow had NO chance to kill his base with all the units in it), knowing that even if his push fails he can probably still have a draw by lifting up his buildings - this game did not end in a draw because inuh did that in the end, mardow was not the "winner" either.

Congratulations to my clanmate Inuh, awesome games, he deserved it.

Im sure mardow will qualify in one of the other cups.

€: I feel sorry for you mardow, but i think everybody would have done the same as inuh, just gotta use what the game offers you.

I thought btw. that it was stupid to use HSM on the muta, would have just used a point defense drone to be safe.

It was hard to see for me where I could attack. I always tried to scout with overlords and everything seemed defended. I didnt want to take the risk tbh :/

Didnt really know what to do at that point D: Need to improve ~~

you really deserve a manner avard for the "gg" in the last game, your patience overall and the "need to improve"

chapeau

in my opinion you shouldve went for 50 or even 500 more overlords and drop your whole army on that tank-marine-ball

yeah i agree it was good manner to gg in the last game, and as mentioned by cola.bier, there's a very high chance u will still qualify for eps. it was definately a good series imo, inuh going banshees in the last game was pretty ballsy and it was unexpected enough to give him the win.

The by far most annoying thing in these games was the permanent chatting of the spectators. Especially Imustbeemo and Cola^^

That's very distracting when watching a game

I dont know but i think the whole "EPS-Thing" looks like a cheap noname Cup. I dont know there are so many things (Spectators, laggy Obs ...) wich just doesnt seem professional. I really cant take that serious.

Imustbeemo aka Rob ist just the biggest cry baby of all time "terra imba terra imba" etc., just cant read all that and not respond ^_^

German streams for today's cup:
ESL Radio (Videostream): http://www.own3d.tv/livestream/45
ESL TV (Videostream ~): http://tv.esl.eu/de/esltv_stream/stream/55-flv-free

Mondi just beat KnowMe, commentators nearly went crazy about his play, but they aren't exactly knowledgeable. Anyways, here's hope he qualifies and continues his rule (or at least becomes a prolific international player [again] :> ).

edit: Noooo Mondi Thrown out of the tourney by Alternate's BrainBug.

I'm watching the ESL Radio Stream.
They're more competent than the ESL TV guys and are streaming and commentating games contrary to them.
The ESL TV guys are only talking and not showing games for about 30 minutes now. :/

Btw: OgerTob for the win

As far as I know there isn't anybody around that casts with a delay. It's either live with no delay or cast from replays, maybe that is what you would like?

Tomorrow there will be no tourney, and the last tourney will see only the winner qualifying; also, I think you need to have played in some or all of the other cups, to be allowed to play in the last cup (the so called "Last Chance Cup").

it is quite toss/terran heavy.

edit: or maybe 5 more zergs??

Big thanks to you Forsti for your great contribution. With your cast the audience is more international, it would be a shame if such a big tournament goes comepletely unnoticed.

About today's qualifier: again the zergs were not able to reach the top 2 spots. Hopefully they will have a good outbreak for the last 5 spots. There are so many talented and good zergs like Mondragon, Mardow, Brainbug or OgerEli.

They MUST qualify, otherwise this ESL Season will be very boring for the audience (too much TvT and PvP) so it would be a very bad start for SC 2 in the ESL Pro Series.

NaNiwa brutally losing the early game, only reason he didn't lose is the Zerg stockpiled 1.2k minerals.

wow, is the EPS really that lucrative that its worth relocating for? if you win the season maybe, but other than that i doubt it.

Germany is the european Korea, esports wise.

Or at least it will be in the future.

the very very small brother of korea considering esports.

i highly doubt sallary of clan and prize money make up for a living.

maybe if your clan pays your flats rent, and pays for living, the prize moneys are so low, you still earn nearly nothing...

but lets see, hope for good, maybe cloud our naniwa will enlighten us.

OH, and of course people flaming them are sore losers, ignore them. people you dont crush on their beloved games use to be very nice here.

UPDATE: seems like MYM will set up a EPS house in germany so members will be able to play in the german eps with very good conditions, nearly like korean pro houses. just a bit smaller. european size like you know.. less crowd

hey i just wonder why a high skill event like this is not covered on the events at tl??

with streams and coverage at all, there might be english casting if this is more openly spread.

at least i could cast it in english since my speaking english is not that bad and i have everything ready to pull it. even international appearance is really nice. rock it. what ever.

maybe the next one.

Yes, there is the so called Alpen-EPS for Austria and Switzerland.

For the German EPS, there were two further players qualifying today, Eloids (beat kAra 2-1 in the decisive bo3) and RoC. Both play Terran and are apparently former WC3 players, but not on a level that allowed them to play German WC3 EPS. On Monday, the last participant will be decided through the "last chance cup".

kAra beat NaNiwa today (NaNiwa: I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CHEESED ME), yet none of them made it, so the last chance cup will likely come down to a showdown between both of them. As far as the Zergs are concerned, things are looking grim. Mardow showed abysmal performance today, again not reaching round 4 (like in the last two cups). Seems like he is heavily on tilt or something, I don't know. Mondragon and BrainBug lost to third-row Terrans, seppL was defeated by GrunZ, a new Zerg hope emerging from the readmore.de forums. GrunZ lost the next round to RoC though, when the Nydus entrance in his base was scouted a few seconds too early, allowing his opponent to find and shoot down the emerging worm.

That's pretty much it. Now we've got eight Terrans, six Protoss and one Zerg in the EPS. Have fun everyone, watching Proleague tomorrow, that's the pinnacle of eSports right there.

I will give my best on monday, watch out naniwa and mardow !

PS: dont forget that TLO also plays zerg, probably better than any other german does.
I also had the pleasure of watching Socke play zerg yesterday, he is also quite good with 'em.

I dont think this statistics says anything about the balance, i think there just are not that many goody players that picked zerg for their race in germany.

just look at guys like Sen, IdrA etc. ... or just TLO and dark.force.

Last one starting soon. Only one more spot, god i wish another Zerg can qualify. But i highly doubt it, given there are still many good terrans like NarutO and Miou, and, of course Naniwa who is favoured to win this.

EPS Germany is for Germany
EPS Alpen is for Alpen
EPS UK is for UK
etc

Our league structure is identical to real sports, with national sections in most (European) countries so far that cater to players and teams in their respective countries

Because TLO is moving to korea he can't participate in the EPS, so an invite cup has been announced for tomorrow, here is the grid:

http://www.esl.eu/eu/#/de/sc2/1on1/eps_17_invite_nachruecker_cup/rankings/

all matches bo3, final bo5 i think.
