It's coming! German news here
On release day there will be an Invite-Only-Cup where the best 3 of:
TheLittleOne, HasuObs, Mardow, Socke, DarK.FoRcE, GoOdy, XlorD, iNSoLeNCE, Mondragon, miou, HoRRoR, NarutO, And3ad, hanf, iNfeRnaL, S.o.K.o.L.
will get qualified for the EPS 2010.
Afterwards, there will be several Cups starting on the 29.07 until the 09.08 (7 in total) where another 13 players can qualify for the EPS!
Imho some of the invited players arguably are only there cause of their fame from WC3, for example S.o.K.o.L. and hanf. But let's see how they'll do. Kinda wondering where Demuslim is, i thought he moved to Germany cause he wanted to play EPS ~_~. But anyway if that's the case he'll just win one of the Cups afterwards!
I'm glad there will be a SC2 EPS since some peopled doubted there would be one as the ESL announced other EPS games some days ago and SC2 wasn't included, so many people thought they'd skip SC2 for one season as it's hard to make a fair qualification right now as most people haven't played SC2 yet. Anyway very happy there is one!

Great names, Mondragon is back :D
DeMusliM is not playing because he's not german? all of the other players seem to be.

Don't know, why that many wc3 players, who didnt rly play at the top in beta were invited, but I'll look forward to that tournament.

Hopefully ESL will put more effort in sc2 than in their other games because otherwise really good players will ignore ESL stuff and just play in international tournaments. And i would love a big German competetive sc2 scene
Some really big names playing. I am really curious to see how the Wc3 players like XlorD, Miou do in the tournament. TLO and Mondragon fighting!

And mods should move this thread to tournament section.
Great stuff. Excited for more things like these

GO MARDOW!!!!
OUR AOE3 HERO!!
We of course know about Ben moving to Germany
The German EPS looks like it's going to be very competitive, glad to finally have a game I'm interested in watching at the FNGs!
yes it is important if players like hanf and sokol can actually compete with tlo and socke else it is just sad for strong sc2 players who have less chances to get into the eps and it is obviously less fun to watch pure rapes too.
gotta root for sokol no matter how much of a baddie he is since he's a russian spy!
TLO is gonna have a hard time playing Socke, GoOdy and iNfernaL
Mooooooooooooooooondragooooooooon!
Finally!!!
Gonna be nice see Mondragon again even that imo just we just gonna see this time
people really are underestimating the war3 players. keep in mind the top war3 professionals havent switched over yet either.

it's more like they should play 24/7 and try to qualify later on xD

its a difference if you are a wc3 player who switched to sc2 (demuslim) or if you are a wc3 player who didnt played sc2 (sokol) or if you are a wc3 player who just sucks at sc2 (hanf rofl).
actually GOody was the best ranked player on the european server but only because TLO had to play so many Showmatches

Though it's rather curious how German players still never became any good international. Looking at football (and SC), one should think that big national leagues equal strong international performance, but this wasn't quite the case for the German Wc3 players. Well, there were mouz and atn sometimes performing in wc3l, but mouz was full of Koreans in the end.

Shame DeMusliM isn't there.
This lok sinteresting, hopefully the ex wc3 boys will do well and justify the worth!! Wonder why Demulsim isnt there???
demu hasn't moved to germany yet afaik
mondragon fighting, yeah, yeah
TLO and Socke/Andead or Goody will qualifier for the EPS for sure.
Only chance that terran get some nerfs after release and maybe some surprise happens.
so cool. hopefully there will be intresting matches.
starting in 15 minutes right?
wow, epic list.
XLorD beat MoMaN on his stream today, seem to be practicing quite a lot.
Naruto beats Mondragon in game 1, lost temple.
Mondragon came out with fast inferstors and made great fungal growths, but Naruto raped him with some MMM micro and tanks.
Game 2, metalopolis, Naruto at 5, Mondragon at 11.
Mondragon goes 12 pool it seems (sc:bw strats :D), Naruto goes fast marauders and snipes one of the overlords with marines.
Fast expand for Naruto, not sure what mondi is doing, probably massing drones from two bases.
Medivacs out for Naruto, third base for mondragon and mutalisks.
Mondragon tried with inferstors, mass banelings and burrowed roaches, denied. Lost his third base but made a hidden hatchery. Naruto expanding at bottom gold expo.
It looks very good for naruto.
Enough of the monologue.

TLO is leading 1-0 vs s.o.k.o.l (who is playing worse than our oldest brother who played maybe 50 1vs1 in total) - can't understand why he didn't turn down the invite.

They need to improve stream quality. Even for a cost-free stream this quality is not acceptable. Every amateur streamer has better quality.
I hope they will show some better players now. TLO, Goody or people like this who know how to play SC 2
Mardow lost to a wc3 player, it seems iNfernal won 2:0. not quite sure.
I think infernal lost 2:0, not sure though
iNfeRnaL lost; Mardow lost
shit, when are they gonna stream the next game, this is boring :O
ESL TV is just so horrible. Back in the days where no one was streaming on sites like livestream / ustream it was kind of OK, but nowadays it's a pain to watch...
Hopefully they'll someday improve their quality, i doubt many people will pay for more quality anymore when someone like Day[9] can get a stream up for 13000 people watching (was it even more??) while having insane quality! (I doubt more than that are watching ESL TV usually!)
edit: Oh and yeah like always; they should show more games and talk less!

i move to Germany around mid august - but the reason i couldn't take part in this invite event was that a few Germans thought it would be unfair if i was invited - despite it being based on go4sc2 appearances and points.
GOOGOGOGOGOGO NARUTO!!!

GOOGOGOGOGOGO NARUTO!!!
Omg. But well you have multiple chances to qualify in the next non-invite tournaments.
list of results thus far, who's played who, etc
TLO 1-0 insolence .. 2nd map now. HasuOBs got pc problems .. thats why they are not playing right now.. and I'm waiting for the winner of hanf/hasuobs

The first tourney is an Invite Tourney for Germans, thats what I was told. It doesn't matter, ben will win the first qualifier he playes I'm pretty sure.
We could meet if I beat Hasu today Dario

That's a baller proxy rax.

that was insane rine micro by tlo

BCBCBC aleeeeeert! :D

I think TLO is making a nuke, and the casters did not notice it.
Yay Mondie is back, so happy.
XlorD 0:2 GoOdy
HasuObs 2:0 Hanf
coming: NarutO vs HasuObs
go HasuObs, don't wanna see only terrans advancing!

i agree.
EDIT: HasuObs 1:0 Naruto
Good pressure by Naruto, but he didn't scout the Starport. HasuObs made 2 void rays and raped him, fazing ftw.
I suck vs Protoss, plain and simple. Hopefully HasuObs can make it into EPS.
![[image loading]](http://i27.tinypic.com/4rf7zn.png)
Top3 will participate in the EPS
GoOdy vs Socke, good game.
lol poor socke, steam rolled by like 200/200 tanks

Yup. Probably the main reason I don't enjoy ESL casts. You end up listening to them talking more than watching games....

TLO as zerg, I've missed that!

HasuObs' average APM 193, that's pretty impressive
omg HasuObs plays insanely good!

that was pretty nice, perfect positioning and storm placement.

Oh wow, still not over. What a crazy game... a must see! TvP late game seems to be well balanced

lol @ hasu what a reaction! well played sir a bit sloppy by tlo though

Agreed. A great game nonetheless! If anybody gets a hold of the replay, please post!
i would have preffered void rays over carriers tough
Oh my god this last game was epic. What an insane comeback by HasuObs
Well played by Hasuobs.
I'm confused though, he's sitting in the same studio as the casters(you could hear Hasu cough between the games), he must have heard everything they said, or?
Bosnia-Herzegovina31 Posts
Ridiculous fucking stuff, crazy game there from both. SC2 getting more exciting every minute.
Hasu doesnt hear a single word the casters say. He wears some special headphones also used by helicopter pilots, you don't hear anything with these one.

he wears soundproof headsets.

i have no idea how TLO lose it, sometime he just want make this games too much entertaining. but anyway SICK game ! ggs
Yeah game was absolutely amazing. HasuObs played it so well with his templars and i also liekd the early game single phoenix + (blink) stalkers. Great play that will be a source of inspiration for me .
P.S. I wouldve loved to see some voidrays.. arent they supposed to be the counter to battleships?
On July 28 2010 06:01 Artistic wrote: P.S. I wouldve loved to see some voidrays.. arent they supposed to be the counter to battleships?
In the post-game interview he said that he personally dislikes void rays and that it took a while for him to realize that carriers hardly damage fully upgrades battlecruisers.
Any link to brackets? For some reason I have always found it hard to navigate ESL site.
haha - TLO 1:0 already ^^
rofl - 1 hellion 12 or 13 scv kills ?!? :D tlo 1:0 goody
epic game gj hasuobs, wp both players
i think tlo's hellions can fly
haha and his Thors have wings. didnt know that collectors editions units can have different models :D
grats to demuslim for taking a spot in the upcoming EPS season.
Ok to sum todays tournament up:
DeMusliM and iNsoleNCe (last dude is a ex-wc3 player, playing protoss) qualified.
So now:
DeMusliM, iNsoleNCe, HasuObs, TheLittleOne and Socke are qualified. That makes two terrans and 3 protoss. I wonder if any Zerg will make it !
still 11 slots available... maybe mardow and mondi have time for another qualifier cup during the next days
On July 30 2010 05:43 rtsAlaran wrote: still 11 slots available... maybe mardow and mondi have time for another qualifier cup during the next days Actually i'd like to know if Mondragon really cares about the EPS or wether he just got invited to play the invite-tournament... cause if i remember correctly he said that he doesn't like SC2 too much. So if that's right i don't think he'll do it.
Mardow can indeed do it... he's the only decent german Zerg i know of. aTn|BrainBug has a known clan, but i didn't hear much of him yet!
edit: damn forgot Dark.Force ^^
mardow and darkforce should manage to make it, if mondragon is active currently he should be able to make it as well.
can't really think of any other german zerg who could do it right now. TLO still is playing lots of Zerg though and from what I remember of WC3 EPS, the rules are very easy on race picking / switching etc.
oh and DieHilde has a chance as well I think. I mean its still 11 spots left^^.
So he didn't fully switch to terran yet? That's good to hear!
Oh and yeah race picking is really not a matter in the EPS, atleast not in WC3. From what i remember players even could switch on countdown in WC3...
