I don't understand why it seems that half the posts in this thread have nothing to do with the matches in the post's tournament.

O.o Its not fun trying to sift through all the pages and see that most of the pages aren't about the King of the Beta.

Can't wait to watch the casts on my birthday though!

did all you guys miss Idra's changeling which scouted the first 2 colossi?
It's not Idra's fault that 4 Colossi totally can turn the tides and you have them out that quickly from 2 chronboosted robos. He had little time to react. He could have assumed Colossi, surely, and could have menaged that battle better, but it's not like he played blindly w/out scouting, Tester prepared for that timing attack well.

Uhh.. Yea when your opponent hard counters your army and you don't respond it's your fault.

You're implying imbalance is the issue I guess... either way.

There are some good games, but these invitationals for beta 'king' are so stupid since people like Masq has been beating the crap out of all these players lately but didnt get an invite to be 'king'.

LOL, that doesn't mean anything, did your "Masq" achieve anything in open tournaments like Go4SC2 or Zotac ?
Ladder games don't mean sh*t

http://www.youtube.com/user/HDstarcraft

Hes beating white-ra and idra, def should be considered for an invitational. I odnt know if he has won any tourny's, probably not invitationals since all those use the same old tired players, but im excited to see some new faces stick it to the older dusty 'pros'.

Ladder games don't mean anything. If you're going to watch videos like that, do it purely for entertainment.

IF that's the case then past SC1 results should not mean anything in terms of SC2 skill and free invites to tourneys. It's a different game.

That is not the case since invitationals aren't only based on skill. If there were no other factors or limitations there wouldn't make much sense to have an invite tournament.

I can't wait to see TLO vs whitera again. I love QXC but it looked like he got outclassed badly by whitera last night.

I loved seeing TLO 4-0 Whitera on husky's chan vods. Amazing counters to the voidray cheese whitera favors

So..... since Day[9] keeps telling us the loser picks the map and both players are allowed to download one map, any player would become my new fav if they forced a game on Shrinkage.

I just wanted to add that especially in Game 2 of idrA vs Tester, it became clear why Day might need a co-caster. That or he needs to increase his words per minute a little bit. He kinda fell behind towards the end and had to queue things. Once was while talking about some Robo Facilities then had to cut immediately to new action. Then later he was in the midst of talking about the battle and missed the GG by a couple seconds because he had to finish this sentence.

It's not terrible. It's just a minor nitpick taken hopefully in the spirit of a loyal viewer who would love to see Day be even better than he is now. I just feel that having another person to take some of the pressure off of him and catch some of the big things he can't notice immediately would be a huge help.

Also, I think it would help because it would obscure some of his bouncing around and "boxing" of units that he does during the cast. It would also give him perhaps a more stable camera so that he can bounce around during the game without making viewers noxious.

EDIT: Damn, meant to post this in the D9 thread on SC2 general, not the tournament thread. My bad.

WTH, where is MASQ? Masq owned Indra 2 times and defeated WhiteRa. I think he deserves to be in this tourney. The only reason he isn't in most of the major tournaments is the fact that he didn't get invited.

Why don't SC2 players utilize drops the way Korean BW players do? Even at the higher levels, I see so many players leaving relatively defenseless mains or expansions unpunished by easy drops.

For instance, in tester vs idra game 2, tester had little to no D in his main. If idra had done a couple drops or a nydus worm, he would have done significant damage.

You don't get invited to high level tournaments just for winning a few ladder matches.

JayDee I think on how small the maps are right now, it is very hard to utilize drops when armies can move back to their main base really fast. Also, on a map like scrap station I think it is pretty standard to have anti drop defense since the air distance is so short

Noo, tons of people do drops. Watch more White-Ra games on sc2win.com. Or watch any Maka game.

Idra is not representative of sc2 players. He's just a single scrub with a bizarre play-style. Idra never does drops -- he just macros a ball and loses.

idra did scout the collosi and dual robo facility BUT, not sure if you guys failed to see that tester literally pushed out like immidiately after he killed the changeling... not sure on how you think you can build a counter to collosus in 30 - 45 seconds when your army is maxxed... his maxxed army wasn't a great composition imo why go mass hydra?? throw in some roach/infestor/muta anything...

To add some hype, let's predict the winners of Day 3. In Group A, we have the Ukrainian derby:
Poll: Day 3: Dimaga vs White-rA

White-rA (P) (51)

74%

Dimaga (Z) (18)

26%

69 total votes

Your vote: Day 3: Dimaga vs White-rA

(Vote): Dimaga (Z)
(Vote): White-rA (P)

And in Group B - the macro war of the US ladder top:
Poll: Day 3: Idra vs Huk

Idra (Z) (45)

57%

Huk (P) (34)

43%

79 total votes

Your vote: Day 3: Idra vs Huk

(Vote): Idra (Z)
(Vote): Huk (P)

so far predicts IdrA vs HuK would be a closer match than White-Ra vs Dimaga.

Yes, he scouted wayyyy late (Tester switched tech trees), then lost to the obvious unit everybody should have known was coming.

If you want to argue a point at least get your facts straight. I've seen several matches were Idra has done drops. And I fail to see how a heavy macro style is bizarre.

Could you link those games please? I don't remember Idra doing any drops ever. I'd be convinced by even just 2 replays.

His style is bizarre because he does the exact same thing every single tournament game. (FE into hydra/roach).
