P.S. Another key strategy of Tester was his fast Collosi. As Day[9] noted, Tester wasn't doing much with his double Robotics Bay when it just finished but later on, when he transitioned to Collosus, he started spamming his saved-up Chronoboosts so it was quick to move from 0 collosus to 2 to 4 (with upgrades).
Why not just build the colossus immediately? Serisouly, if any other player than Tester, everybody would have critized his lack of macro. Because this save of energy had no benefits. Why does he have 150 energy early game on his nexus. He should have CB his probes, but he actually decided to wait a few mins before chronoboosting the nexuses.

can anyone tell me please how they will play it on the 23th of july when beta is down ?
|
Gonna watch the reps now, cause last night it was a slideshow @ day9 :p

Idra was the test , now buff zerg...

Tester does a delayed 1-1-1 build for Protoss, with the saved up chrono and warp-in this gives him enormous flexibility. I definately like how he played this!

The first Idra vs Tester game was really great, i auctally thought Tester's going to go for some kind of weird air build when he misplaced that second cybernetics core haha .
I know this isn't really on topic, but has Idra ever raged against a Korean? It seems to me only does against foreigners.

I wonder why Idra doesn't have broodlords for the end game. He's lost all kinds of battles with maxed out hydra/roach/lings by now.

According to upcoming events those games are completely wrong.
Best of 3 Huk vs Tester Dimaga vs White-rA

Man, Idra got dismantled that second game. Superior economy, larger army, all wiped out by a great timing, unit mix, and usage of those units. Idra is excellent macro player but his weaker strategic skills will always hold him back against the best of the best who can match is macro and also outthink him.

Idra rages when he loses to people he thinks are not as good as him, and since he thinks koreans are the best he doesnt rage when he losses to them.

Best of 3 Huk vs Tester Dimaga vs White-rA Seems the Upcoming events entry is wrong, as it says: Day 3: Huk vs Tester, Dimaga vs White-rA Day 4: Huk vs Tester, White-rA vs IntoTheRainbow while the OP of this thread says:

Group Play Day 4 - July 21th 7PM PST Group A: White-rA vs IntoTheRainbow Group B: Huk vs Tester But thanks for noticing, hope someone corrects it.

Yeah, Idra sucks. Seriously, what do you force with 200/200 hydras? Think about it!
(The answer is... the counter to hydras.)
And just so you guys know, hydras are GREAT against gateway units! Absolutely awesome. What they are not great against are the counters to hydras.
So, in general, it is a bad idea to let your opponent spend 5 minutes switching tech mid-game. This is the moral of the story.

This isnt a critique, just a question:
In game 2, why didn't Idra attack once he hit 200 food? Was he wanting to build up larvae and money so he could do fast and massive reinforcements right after the first big battle? I think Tester was behind 50 food when Idra hit 196. Waiting seemed to just let Tester catch up in food AND get 9 range Colossi.

And thats what is pathetic, he almost always has an excuse prepared when he loses to an "inferior" opponent.

How much scouting had Idra done? had he even seen the double robo bay, or did he know the size of Tester's army?

There are some good games, but these invitationals for beta 'king' are so stupid since people like Masq has been beating the crap out of all these players lately but didnt get an invite to be 'king'.

Tester opened up the short path. Idra can't really attack through the short path because Force Fields would stop him, and if he went through the long way, he'd be countered by Tester's units through the short path.
Strategically Idra was bad. He had no broodlords and was maxed out but didn't do anything. He could've expanded, do a drop, build sunkens/evo chambers block to defend the short path, etc etc.
