Hello All,
Get Better Fast League Tournament 1 will be casted this Wednesday at 7:00pm EST. The Finals are a best of 5 match, they will be casted by DJwheat and Martijn.
Grand Finals VOD!
About The Tournament + Show Spoiler +The GBFL T1 was available to players in the Silver to Copper League only. This created a place for people, new to the game and new to the competitive scene, to get a chance to see whats its its like to play in a tournament and to make friends that are around their same skill level.
So over the weeks we have been able to watch the players in the tournament grow in skill and knowledge of the game, with proof of this as our 2 finalist have been prompted to Gold and Platnium Leagues.
So we hope you have all enjoyed the Tournament and enjoy the matches!
We also have GBFL Tournament 2 just entering the Semi Finals, so go check that you if you want to see whos dominating.
Once that is completed we will be putting all Tournaments on hold until the game is released. At that time we will be launching a GBFL Tournament open to All SC2 Leagues. So checked back July 27th for the sign up thread.

No point really other then to bash noobies and win a casted tournament. It's like smurfing, but better.
|
Yea, heh. The winner of game 1 definitely looked like a smurfer.
|
I like the idea of this tournament, but I feel like people could easily smurf on these kinds of events... There has to be an easier way to tell if someone is doing this or not
|
Lol nevermind, that proxy multitasking I thought was pretty good, but nevermind! Maybe he is just good at cheesing!

Centrin was Silver 1655 back in the end of March, and Tronn was Silver 1407 at that time. I was at a similar rating level too back then and now I'm top ten ranked gold in my division and I think I might just be able to get into platinum before the first phase of the beta ends. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them are platinum at the moment.

Yea I am not so good at all... but I am platinum like rank 25 atm and all I know is 1 base protss all-in strats and still go like 60% win in platinum.

OPsaid maybe chill but uhhh if I was Chill I'd quickly be clarifying that im not casting because these casters are blatent non-SCers, djwheat+?.

The person that is not DJ Wheat seems to know what he's talking about in a general sense. DJ Wheat is entertaining but he doesn't understand SC2 at the same level as most casters we're spoiled by (Day9, Joseki, JP, etc.) so take what he says with a grain of salt.

+ Show Spoiler +I think Tronn should have proximined until he got enough to make a Nexus on that last game instead of going all in. Also I noticed that Centrin was focus firing those immortals all the time, so I think Tronn should have microed them away whenever they were being focused, maybe this way he could get in some free shots on those stalkers.
I missed the first game but did get to see the rest. Thanks for casting, and gg's.
|
I probably should have... but I figuered by the time i got a nexus up and running, he would have so many units he could just over run me... If i had controlled better.. it might have been better...

Chill was out of town, I volunteered to step in last minute because I just happened to be around. Considering the amount of casting I do, I like to think at least I have a decent sense of what's going on.
I've known Wheat for years online, he's one of the best if not the best commentator that has casted multiple games. It's just a matter of time before he becomes serious competition for some of the big-name sc2 casters and he has more experience casting in general and doing event coverage than most commentators our community has to offer combined. The guy's a legend, trust me, he's only just getting warmed up. I'm sure the people that have been around competitive gaming will vouch for him without question or hesitation.
That's also why he calls me by my nickname Mumbles instead of my real name which I go by more these days. (Note my name on ustream being MartijnMumbles for example) I imagine (or hope more so) a good number of people have at least been exposed to my commentary for h2ktv/bescene tournament and more prominently for glhf.tv/razer/zotac/craftcup.

Thanks to all that turned in.
Vod will be posted up in the GBFL Offical thread and on the wiki page.
To all those worrying about someone smurfing the tournaments, we do have things in place for the silver - cooper tournaments to help prevent this. Although if someone has no life i guess they could do this. But really whats the point. So far in both tournaments we haven't really had that issue.
To those who cannot read... it was DJwheat and Martijn from GLHF casting. They both did a great job, and Wheat has never claimed to have pro knowledge of SC2, he does however have a massive back ground in casting games and alot of that talent can transfer to different game types. Thanks again Wheat for taking the time out of your busy schedule to cast our little tournament
Look forward to doing this all again real soon!

I think it's awesome what you've done H4rvey. I find the best way to recruit my friends into the realm of StarCraft is to show them the competitiveness - so I link them casted matches and all sorts of stuff that display the amount of thinking that goes into this game. Having a tournament like this for newer players is awesome to expand the scene into what I hope is huge with the release of SC2.
|
Grats to Centrin for winning, and h4vey for putting this tournament on. I'm a big fan of things that build community and more important help funnel new players into a competitive atmosphere. It's easy to sit back and be content with all the tournaments featuring high-level players, but don't forget that it's just important to be fueling the budding talent who could one day be at the top.
As for the casting, haters gonna hate I love SC2, yes I'm still learning, but my lack of knowledge won't stop me from being passionate and making content.
