He was also ranked #1 on the Asian ladder for a while with a 73% win ratio. Also, his name always seems to come up whenever one of the top Koreans is asked "who are the best players right now?" That's not a huge amount to go off but winning the biggest LAN to date and making the top 4 of the biggest online tournament has to put him up there. Not just the Brain Box lan but also the PGR21 tournament which had the final 8 playing offline. I have to admit Cool's play has never struck me as particularly impressive either, yet those two big wins suggest that there has to be something a bit special about him.

I also dont feel like Check is even close to no2 zerg in the world. Doesnt TLO play Sen in plu.cn in a day or two? That will reveal a lot. Definitely not. I've been following all the replays of these guys, and maka (as well as the other good korean terrans) i think are significantly better than any of the NA or euro terrans, especially in tvp, where I feel NA and euro terrans were (and still are to a large degree) clueless as to how to approach it.

You are right about TvP being the weak point of european Terrans but in TvZ and TvT I think they are pretty much on par with the asians. Actually from what i've seen, the following has happened: Asian P's don't actually resort to making HT's like Euro P's - this makes it so much easier to win for a Terran. - TvT i don't believe the better player always wins, sure the better player is more likely to win - but right now the rock paper scissor factor in tvt is incredibly volatile. I'd agree to some extent that EU terrans are on par with the vsT and vsZ matchups, as for the P, i'd say the asian protoss players just weren't playing aswell to counter the bio style that most terrans adopted.

I think it has more to do with openings. The terran openings that they have been using for a while now in korea (like 1/1/1) that are very effective against protoss were picked up WAY later by the euro/NA terrans, who were consistently still going reaper or marauder first, which really suck imo. I don't think the mid-late game differences were that major, but most terrans on NA or euro couldn't even get past the first 10 minutes. However, no offense, I think maka is a step beyond most others.
