Congrats on making Google Partnership! Getting #1 & #2 for the day of all of Youtube doesn't hurt either!
Thank God and gunrun.

I really enjoyed the entire tournament, though I feel it lost some steam towards the end because of the huge delay between games, especially the VOD uploads, but I'm sure you guys have already got a ton of suggestions for how to deal with those. Hopefully, the actual game will be a bit more stable than the Beta.

I've gotta disagree with people dissing on HD and Huskies commentary style...you may find their enthusiasm fake but that's only because you haven't heard someone experienced nerd chills before

Seriously though, they seem really into the game and never once have tried to come off like they're "pro" players. They're style is very play by play and, yes, some of the vets might be irritated at their SHOCK and AWE at the new units coming out of X production building but vets already KNOW the game; they don't need commentary.,,and for everyone else, a know-all jaded we've-seen-it-all-before commentary would be unspeakably dreary.

Day9 is a great analyst and you learn a lot from him but I've always been more entertained by HDH; they honestly are one of the reasons I got into SC2. They're into SC2 because its fun (you have to love the game; you honestly think they're making that much money/anything from this at this point?) and you need people who love the game but lack the exclusionary elitism.

So congrats HDH, congrats Whitera and Idra and Nony and TLO (but you broke my heart TLO, you just plain broke my heart....j/k).

ONE minor thing I'd like to criticize though...I agree with those posters who point out that you kinda seemed to have it in for Idra, though he was on his best behavior throughout the finals (almost). And calling a ragequit when he GGd? Lol, not cool.

Thanks for hosting such a great tournament! The players you guys invited were top notch, and provided for some really entertaining games that had some pretty orgasmic moments. Thanks for all the hard work!

One question, though: will you guys be posting the replays up before beta closes?

I think you can watch the replays even after the beta ends. And yes, they have said they'll release a replay pack, but not when.

I was upset about TLO also, great player, but he likes to play around wayyy too much. Whatever keeps the game interesting I guess

Who doesn't have it out for Idra? He is a cocky mofo, and rightly so. Those kind of people usually have everyone going against them, not to mention he was expected to win it all. People usually go for the underdogs when the big dog is known as a cocky sore loser.

Anyways, amazing tourney. I can't wait for the next one.

This tournament was truly amazing. I watched every single VOD and I must say it was inspirational. Idra's amazing macro, White-Ra's awesome unit combinations and balances and FF micro, and TLO's awesome Random run where the 3/3 Protoss against White-Ra could've changed the outcome of everything had he gotten either Terran or Zerg those games.

Thank you Husky and HD for getting this up and running and providing great commentary and VOD's for everyone to watch. I can't wait for HDH2!!

So, the presentation of the high five... will that be televised? are you gonna travel to where Nony is directly or is he going to head out your way for the event?

really cool tournament watched all of the games, though i had to take a few breaks in the finals and Idra games in general, because he is just so boring to watch. always playing like a machine (except for the doom drop asia style ofc)

I was REALLY excited for these matchups and yet even with all my enthusiasm it became somewhat tedious clicking through 20 different youtube videos to watch a single matchup.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really thankful for all the hard work that went into HDH I just want to see things get even better. I want be able to tell my friends "Hey guys check this shit out, go www.blahblah.com and watch these matches that are about to start up" and then be able to have us all watch a single well put together broadcast.

Present it UFC style. If you're worried about cheating, put it on a 30 minute delay. Have the smaller events first and build up the main event.

The way things are right now its hard for anyone but a hardcore fan to get into this, I think we really need to work on reducing the barrier of entry. HD and Husky are great commentators for this as well, as its been mentioned a few times a super technically intensive broadcast would only be interesting to high level elite players.

Would you want to watch a Football game (U.S.) where the entire broadcast was some grizzled coach talking about pros and cons of a nickle formaton? It would get really, really dry.

As I look over this post and take context into account maybe I should qualify that these aren't really gripes or something I expect but more of a dream for how things could be one day. THANK YOU HDH for all the work you already put into this I think with just a bit more infrastructure you could really take it to the next level.

Of course, then Blizz might take you to court >.<

EDIT - Apparently blahblah.com is a real site. Go figure.

I feel like it's unfair to assume that technical commentary is always boring. I would assume that you are referring to Day[9] here, and, honestly, Day[9] never fails to make a game entertaining, as well as educational.

The turning point in TLO/Nony was that moment in game 4 when TLO was inside Nony's base and instead of going in for the easy kill, chose to morph a shit-ton of banelings. Toying with an opponent like that is a bad idea. That's why Nony ragequit, and from that point on he came back focused and aggressive. What's more, I think TLO knew he acted poorly by drawing out that game, and it threw him off his own game, evidenced by the many errors he made in later games. TLO, I love your play, but I think you need to develop more killer instinct, and also respect your opponents a little more than you did in that game.

Maybe I'm wrong, and TLO truly thought he needed those banelings, but I very much doubt it.

I'll give a simple answer to this:

+ Show Spoiler +
I think it had more to do with the fact that TLO didn't spawn random as Zerg enough for the rest of the games. Had he, I think he would have won. Win's and loses in that series were far too correlated with weather TLO was Zerg. Except for Steppes which is a Zerg slaughterhouse. I agree NonY is top notch, and would probably deal differently now- but at the time, TLO Zerg seemed to be giving him various types of hell.

My thoughts about this ending

+ Show Spoiler +
TLO deserved to get in the finals This triple protoss spawn against whitera was really silly.

Then again whitera deserved his win in the end, I was bit pissed that he won to TLO just cause of this triple protoss spawn from TLO (I'm still convinced TLO would win hands down if it wasn't for having to face whitera in a PvP 3 times in a row), but his series against IdrA changed my mind a bit about it, he really really completely outplayed him and even took him at his own macro game on metalopolis, and IdrA felt totally in WhiteRa's mindgame.

Looking forward to see how TLO evolves really, this guy is sooo entertaining to watch playing and is such a genius, I can't see him not come to the top in the end

Annoying that everyone keeps cheering for TLO and sort of semi-dissing on NonY while at it (saying TLO only lost because of this and that, etc. etc.). Well, I agree that TLO is a pretty good, entertaining player.

However, NonY is a beast, and deserved all the wins he got.

And you can't blame TLO's losses simply on what race he randomed as. The dude picked random, so he must/should have mastered all races. If he hasn't, then it is TLO's fault that he lost. That comes with picking random. You can't say "oh, he lost because he got Protoss". If he can't play Protoss on a pro level he is destined to lose at least 1/3 of his games, so that basically means he sucks.

lol that means he sucks? Yeah you're right, his protoss is only like 2100 rated probably while his other two races are above 2300. Damn, he just sucks so bad. Can't say someone sucks when they have such a following and great understanding of this game (as you can see by listening to the state of the beta podcasts). But in reality, I hear he switched to Terran permanently making him someone to watch out for next tournaments. He's full time now baby!
