I meant as in not just ladder games, aka they had entered what events they could.

anyway I don't want to argue more about this, but yes it's obvious only money events (especially limited invites) should count for anything as players just screw around in the others and lose on purpose.

so your saying you would rather watch a bunch of famous noobs battle than the best players on the server ?

the h/g tournament is, afaik, the only thing with a big prize on the us server so far. 3 of the top 4 were famous sc players, the 4th was world champion on another game, and lzgamer was ro8. ladder is for practice, no one remembers ladder rankings or who wins random prizeless team leagues. they remember tournament winners. the eg guys play custom games all day, of course their ladder rankings arent that high. but you cant claim your players deserve to be invited over them when in the one big individual tournament theres been so far none of your players did better than them. get meaningful results, then you can be indignant. until then shut up.

Random team tournaments where louder, lzgamer, and pretty much all the known players enter. What have you done in SC2?

You've won a single event, a smuft team invite where the other 3 teams where easily eliminated in that "random team tournament" in the semi finals.

Team Quebec and Root Gaming have more history of doing well in actual events.

Lets see, you lost the ITL tournament, you lost MLG BO5 showmatch to cauthonluck, same showmatch Artosis lost to the same player, and only won vrs machine (with a last second race switch).

Your only impressive showing was in smuft's invite which didn't have the best teams, (root gaming / team quebec).

Name a SC2 tournament you have won, besides Smufts invite?

Seriously you are delusional, bad mannered, and the only professional 12 hour a day player, who likes to talk shit to everyone else. Having only won a single SC2 event, which again didn't have the best competing against you.

I could list a lot of players who if they where going by skill I would pick over you. Please stfu and be happy you are well known for being BM. SC1 is a completely different game, and if they went by that, why not pick nony Please stop shit talking every single player as being beneath you when it is not the case by a longshot.

take 10 seconds and look at the players signed up for http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=118715

That is not a good pool of top SC2 NA players?just a random meaningless tournament? Yes you have a shot at being one of the best, if not best "NA" players, but you aren't there yet. There are a lot of players that are up there with you vying for the spot at the top.

note: this post is nothing against this tournament, I'm loving the picks so far and it's an invitational, HD starcraft and husky worked hard to set this up and I'm sure the games will be amazing.

i all killed smufts thing, im in the semi finals of the h/g tournament, and i have the highest win percentage on the ladder, with 2nd or 3rd highest elo right now. and i was in the finals of that iccup thing where i lost to, guess who, a known starcraft player. what else is there for us server? besides the meaningless little team leagues that i dont play in.
ya you did better than eg in that. congrats. they did better than your players in the tournament that has a reward for winning. that makes them more accomplished. theres limited spots, they obviously take precedence when assigning those spots.

Thats whats up~

I appreciate HD and Husky setting this up and respect their invite decision but, I might have a solution to all this. Go ahead and invite those you initially wanted to invite and those spots that are free just set up a small preliminary tourney Bo3 of 4/8 people in this thread that feel they deserve to be invited. You have some time before the Ro16 starts. If you only have one spot free then give only one spot, two spots, two and so on. Think of them like wildcard spots.

This would not only settle a couple of the complaints but, it should also produce some competitive games. Players that have yet to "prove" themselves will be able to and then whoever wins will have a chance in the HDH Invitational. If they suck they shouldn't win the prize anyways, but if they own it up they at least get to shut everybody who doubted them in this thread.

Hope all goes well. Always great to see new tournaments pop up.

I think next time you should just invite 16 EU players at least you won't have this much complaining and ego boosting going on.

edit

btw idra, your all kill against team aus in the finals of smuft's invite, was copied the next day by nkdcoke of team quebec, who performed the same all kill against the same players. Although they probably where not trying obviously. I'm not saying you arent a top player, but there are a lot of players up there with you with much less recognition. You shouldn't BM them saying "you have to prove yourself in an invite only tournament like I did, that you wheren't invited to"

note: I have no interest of being invited, I'm pretty bad at SC2 and only have 20-ish games post wipe, 250 pre wipe (1800 plat), I'm not a member of root gaming or team quebec etc. I was just responding to Idra's attitude to other top NA players such as drewbie who honestly have as much claim to being a top player as Idra.

also "random team leagues", look at SC in korea, the biggest event is the pro league.

Seriously. The time some of these guys spent whining could have been better spent practicing so they could be invited next time.

Lookin' forward to watching this and other SC2 tourneys. Thanks to the sponsors, casters, and players for making this possible!

We were prepared for this. Many people don't understand that there are limited slots and we do our best to accommodate everyone. We expect the negativity to die down once the 16 players have been solidified.

I think the list of invited players so far is pretty solid. Orb is bad, but whatever people like watching his stream so not a big deal. All other invites are good. Only 16 can be invited and there are more then 16 that are deserving. And I would rather watch people that have been popular in the community that ?MAYBE? have done slightly worse in SC2 then some new kids on the block. If the new people continue to prove themselves then they will be invited to invitationals.

Husky and HD how come you guys didn't invite yourselves!
(wonder if its possible to invite blizzard staff like David Kim)

Have Dustin Browder commentate on blizzard staff playing in the tourney with you guys!

Plus you didn't take any of my suggestion for the name of the invitational

We've looked into the opportunity just to make sure what our options were for TLI's and they are not allowed to play tournaments due to Blizzard rules. Not that I think if they were allowed they should be invited though.

Invite only EU players. I hate to say it but from watching reps they are a few steps ahead of non-EUs. Considering I've only played about 12 1v1s since reset I shouldn't be watching these invitational replays thinking I can take every player in a game.

Thanks for the information. They are not allowed to play but are they allowed to commentate and give us their opinion on the tournament or the game?
Ex. A specific strat they never saw before?
Players using units a way they never thought of?
Any possible balances they need to fix
etc?
