He only agreed to a $500 showmatch... and thats all he's playing like. I don't see that he owes any of the people backing him any favours at all. They are just betting on him like he was a horse... so they shouldn't be granted any special access especially if it will violate the rules that both players agreed to.

You guys seriously haven't been following this thread? This is a GRUDGE match. Idra is not going to be nice (if he ever is) to the people who he's GRUDGING against. Fayth is in this, if I'm not mistaken, for the lulz and also to contribute to the community (props to Fayth for that). But you can't expect Idra to care about that since he's not playing for the community, he's playing for his nerd honor and if people didn't back him for $5k, he'd just assume Smuft dodged and that he won by default.
Having said that, Smuft asked for no observers. Since he's putting in $5k of his own money, I think he should decide.

dude no obs is absolutely reasonable considering how many players have complained of obs lag in important matches.
Maybe something like Day[9] private cast for you 4 that later will be released to general public is a bit more sensible.

heh well I don't recall ever lagging when I obsed a game, except the 1st game of smuft's tourney where Heaven was trying to cast but failed and thus was lagging game out by alt tabbing
mez doesn't lag either, lag usually involves streaming

Theoretically, one could easily make a deal with the other player to offset your 1k bet :p Im not really serious and dont think anyone would actually do it in this case, but since its a possibility, best to keep it obs free so that there can be no excuses of lag, cheating/collusion, etc.

But there are plenty of casters with lagless track record.
All i'm saying is Idra is still playing for a lot of his own money, and he knows, and i know, and everybody else knows that a small lag spike can easily send him into a fit of rage.

In a way they are doing you a favor, you want this match to happen so you can beat Smuft and double your money. Smuft is only playing with a $5000 MINIMUM. This match wouldn't even happen if these backers hadn't put their own money so YOU could meet that minimum. They contributed money so you could ALL potentially gain, not just them, so they are doing you favor because without them this match wouldnt even happen.

Assuming you get to obs, could easily feed information to other player, and make a deal to get x$ if they win, thus offsetting or even making money off your original bet of $1k. Again, not saying anyone here would do such a thing, but just the possibility of it should be taken into consideration when this much pride/$$ is on the line.

Okay, I've tolerated a good amount of trash talk in this thread, mainly from Idra and Smuft because they are in a grudge match and a certain amount of back-and-forth rope is allowable.
But you are a third party who is simply betting on it. You were even warned, via a long MSN conversation with me, about how you would improve your posting and wouldn't act like a douche on the forums. You and Idra clearly don't like each other, but you guys (both) acting like douches is not productive for this forum.
Idra gets 1 week you get 30 days given your history and the prior warning. Cheers.
