That clutch scan probably won the game for Demuslim. Ret, seeing the scan, stopped his troops from moving south to kill T's third, and instead went to confront T's army.
His army was scanned, and he walked into this ambush by DeMuslim and really got overconfident I think. Definitely wanted to hang out until broodlords or something imo.
I'd also like to add that Demuslim completely out microed Ret. His macro was a bit behind, but his micro was in another league (sniping off banelings, that beautiful concave formation) and it proved to win the day.

ret would've won that SO EASILY if he'd just waited for demuslim to attack. his army was much, MUCH bigger. all he needed was a really basic flank outside the high yield.
its not like there's ever any threat of terran just playing passive expansion style and growing too big when any number of units loses to brood lords
