When do I add my gateways/robo's after a forge fast expand? Or just after an expansion in general? I always seem to float 1-2k minerals before and even after the warpgate finishes even with warping in perfectly | ||

Tell us what your game plan is and we can help you (double robo 2 base push, 7gate push, blink stalker pressure, stargate harass ? ) If you don't have a precise idea of what you want to do, just get production facilities as you can afford them (don't let money get that high) | ||

A thread popped up yesterday on forge + stargate, I don't recommend it but you can check it out to see a high master player play around with phoenix harass to get some ideas. | ||

Yeah, I saw that thread, but it wasn't any good at all. What I'm trying to get at is - quite often nowadays I see with my scouting probe my opponent taking second gas and going 1g robo. What do I do, considering I usually open 3 stalker rush or 4gate? This is not on TDA. Can I immediately expand and hope I can hold him with later gates and robo, while camping outside his base? If you do, the easiest thing to do is to 4 gate him (there is a 4 gate version of the 3 stalker opening if you don't chrono your stalkers). I don't care what people say, I've never seen ANY 1 gate robo build hold off a good 4 gate. Some builds come close, some builds can with superior micro, but not of them consistently beat 4 gate. You can 3 gate expand in response if you want, especially on maps with easy to hold naturals. MC does this quite often. The only thing you need to be worried is getting enough units to hold the 2 immortal + 2 colo push afterward (or similar pushes). When early expanding in PvP, be mindful not to make too many probes. You're already ahead if you can hold and he doesn't expand, so focus on units. I usually get blink when doing this and if he pushes too early, I engage in a base trade. If you're clever there might be a build to 3 gate stargate all in him, but I haven't figured out a good timing for that. (and also, you almost never get to see the robo go down.) | ||

At diamond level of execution however it could be easier to defend with this than to actually execute the 4gate so don't do it if you can't consistently hit the 5.45 timing or get good proxy pylons down. The composition you should go for is blink stalker harass into chargelot archon immortal. It's a pretty hard matchup, I recommend you to read the guides from cecil and 4kmonk when you can. | ||

Zealots in front, stalker behind, one guardian shield and FF behind the bunker if he tries to repair it. Your question is a little vague. This is how you should do it, whether it's a good decision to bust down a bunker on top of a ramp is another question... | ||

Match his gateway count; you will have the defender's advantage and take no damage. Um ok, but this is a little vague (about non proxy 2 gate in PvP for others) Can you go gate-cyber-gate? Or do you have to match immediately? Are you behind if he suicides 2 zeals into your mineral line? Do you need to chrono your zeals, or will the rush distance make up for it? | ||
