Hey. Im a platinum league Zerg player who obviously has room for improvement.
Ive played a good 200 ladder games now and two times have I come across a player who as Terran does an insane amount of turtling and then goes full BCS.. rushes in an wins.. Were talking 20+ Turrets in his main here and tanks to defend his natural choke.
I tried to do a nydus network, I tried to harass with mutas (before I saw his turrets...), I tried rushing full on with roaches who usually withstand a good amount of beating from tanks. I kept him on 1/2 bases for the majority of this 40(!) minute fight.
Besides the two obvious: Not letting him get that island expanse and doing some early aggression, how could I have better countered the enevitable BC stampede? This time around I did mass mutas, but they had little effect. I also tried Neural parasiting half of them and using yamamato cannon on eachother, no offect.. In a previous game I tried corrupters which still proved near worthless..
Heres the replay: http://www.sc2replays.dk/?show=replays_show&replay_id=862&lang=da_DK
So my question is: Besides early agression and spotting his early island expanse - what could I have done?

Haven't watched the replay but I don't understand how turtling > BC's can be a problem for Zerg. Corruptors own BCs so hard. Don't think I ever lost to a Terran who's gone BC.. such a huge investment and you have plenty of time to macro and counter.
|
once you see him turtling so hard on so few bases, take the map. Literally. Cover it in creep, have every base covered.
Tech to corrupter/brood lord to break those entrenched positions, and corrupters dominate BCs. If you were even just 1 base ahead going corrupter/brood lord, you would walk all over a BC turtling terran.

Make drones. Practice your macro, for a good portion of the game you were at the same harvester count as the Terran even though you were under no pressure whatsoever! ;o
Playing zerg is all about getting away with making drones, if you can make a drone instead of a unit and be safe, do it! He turtled up inside his base, you had him contained, you should have expanded all over the place. There is no need to attack if you have him contained since the advantage of a contain is that he can't expand, while you can.

BCs generally suck vs air-to-air units. Their air dmg is low + shoot often, which means they do way less dmg to armored air units.
Simple strategy, if somebody turtles + expands + techs you take 2+ expos. Corruptors with corruption should also kills BCs very easily. Then just get broodlords and finish the game.

If opponent turtles, just expand and tech up.

you need way more drones... and you could have done more damage with those mutas on start
