the first time I did it I thought of it on the spot. that was the replay which was in the pimpest plays thing. and after that I've done it like 10 different times now, won every game, but I never got to block two gateways like that and kill all the goons before, normally I just trap the first goon and then kill probes/disrupt mining for a long enough time to give me an economic advantage that I can't lose.

Pylon prison is a cool name. I hope it will be used in OGN and the commentators will say. OMG REACH IS DOING A PYLON PRISON. And then they have a little chit chat about drone.

mainly verse terrans to block in tanks, though i did see one game verse protoss, but its next to pointless verse good protoss's because they get zealots and even if it was attempted just stick probes to block the exit point or something else.

its like a lot of the coolest looking strategies, they are great when you outclass your opponent but you can't use them when you are of equal skill or less.

well

I remember I did it against a terran when goon rushing him once, like 3 years ago im sure, and I won, and I was like "holy shit that's really cool gotta start doing that more often" and the observers were amazed

but then I thought about the simple fact that "um wtf he could just have lifted his factory" and been okay.

AND

I only build it when I see they have no zealot building, and I always start building it right before their goons pop out. someone tried putting probes there once, which is a counter I also thought of, but I managed to kill one with my zealot and the goon was stuck anyway.

AND

that guy beat me 2-0 before this game so it's not something I can only do vs people below me in skill..

I do however think you could possibly abuse the fact that I always do it through going 1 gate goon with no zealot and then putting probes beneath your gateway but it would be very risky. the entire point of the strat is to beat people who don't build zealots, so the "because they get zealots" part doesn't really mean anything.

i just can't stop thinking about a time i blocked returning goons back up to their base at 8oclock (temple), by building 3-4 pylons from the minerals to the mountainside and then smashed them with zealots^^

how can it ever be done vs terran? i don't think i've ever had it that a probe lived for that long in my base..

if terran makes less than two marines you can always keep the probe alive until vulture or tank pops out. and many terrans dislike building marines as it doesn't give them cc or second fact or something else they're saving for fast enough.
